Chapter 144 Human Demon

Upon hearing the voice, Sui Xin was startled, her eyes filled with disbelief, for there was no one there when she had just looked.

Xiao Yu did the same; the two exchanged a glance and looked behind them.

A man in black robes sat on the throne. He had delicate features, but his face was deathly pale, devoid of any color.

What's even more striking are his hands; his fingers are pale and long, with nails that are about ten centimeters long, making them look somewhat frightening.

The man in black robes looked at the two men with a mocking expression and asked again, "What brings you two here?"

"You, are you a human or a ghost?" Sui Xin shouted, trying to hide his fear, his face equally pale.

Xiao Yu, who was standing next to him, remained relatively calm and drew a long sword from behind her, holding it horizontally in front of her chest.

"Haha, I probably prefer the name 'ghost' to 'human,'" the man in black robes laughed, rising from his throne and walking toward the two. "Don't worry, I have no ill intentions toward you."

Seeing the man's smile, Sui Xin became even more frightened and tried to back away, but found that she couldn't move her body.

"What a handsome young man," the man said, his fingernails scraping against Sui Xin's face.

Sui Xin felt a chill run down her spine, unsure of what this person wanted to do, and asked, "Since you have no ill intentions towards us, why don't you let us leave?"

"Let you go? It's not impossible, but you took my things, shouldn't you return them first?" the man in black robes said with a smile, and then walked up to Xiao Yu.

Upon hearing this, Sui Xin immediately asked, "What is it?"

"My origin".

"What? When did we take your essence?" Sui Xin asked, puzzled.

"What's inside the coffin lid, and what's in the pool below, is my essence," the man in black said.

Walking back to Suixin, she whispered, "Your eyes are really beautiful."

The man's face was not far in front of her, and Sui Xin looked at him with disgust, "You did all this inn? Wasn't it supposed to be a cemetery?"

Regarding the so-called spiritual energy, I had a rough idea in my mind that it must be that I absorbed his essence and was then controlled by him, unable to use my own cultivation.

"A cemetery? Not really. I was resting here, and you insisted on disturbing me, so I can only give you a little punishment," the man said casually.

"Then who are you? Are you a demon?"

The sheer amount of demonic energy here makes it easy to associate him with the demon race.

"Hahaha, hahaha," the man in black robes looked at Sui Xin and laughed loudly. After a while, he leaned close to Sui Xin's ear and said, "Aren't you one? Hahaha."

Sui Xin was taken aback, looking at the man's interested expression, she was full of helplessness, "Tell me, how can you let us leave?"

"If I told you that only one of you could go, what would you choose?" the man said, taking a few steps back and looking at the two of them.

Sui Xin and Xiao Yu have regained their mobility, but they cannot use their cultivation.

Do I have to choose one of the two?

Hearing the man's words, Sui Xin subconsciously looked at Xiao Yu, who was also looking at him. "Didn't you say you wouldn't make things difficult for us? Why won't you let us all leave?"

“Really? This is my territory, I can do whatever I want,” the man replied.

“You…” Sui Xin lost her temper. Isn’t that how it is? There’s nothing she can do about him.

"What will happen to those who stay behind? Will they die?"

"Not necessarily. If you stay, I guarantee you won't die; if she stays, then I can only have a taste first, and kill her when I'm disgusted with her," the man licked his lips, looking alluring and captivating.

Xiao Yu felt very uncomfortable under his gaze, and her hair stood on end.

"So, you mean you want me to stay?" Sui Xin said through gritted teeth.

"Hmm, it's so easy to talk to smart people. As long as you stay, don't worry, I definitely won't make things difficult for her," the man said with a smile.

"Alright, let her go."

"Junior Brother Ye..." Xiao Yu called out, but didn't know how to begin, her voice filled with guilt.

At this point, she didn't know what to do. Compared to her, keeping Suixin was clearly the right choice, but in her view, it was no different from sacrificing one's life to save another.

After all, once it falls into his hands, everything has to be done his way, and who knows what the outcome will be.

Sui Xin forced a smile, "Senior Sister Xiao, don't worry, didn't he say he wouldn't kill me?"

"I just need you to do me a favor after you leave," Sui Xin continued, glancing at the man behind her. "Don't eavesdrop."

The man smiled, said nothing more, and walked to the throne to sit down.

"If I haven't returned in twenty days, please go to Senior Jianjun's bamboo forest and find a girl named Ye Xiyun. Tell her..."

The thought that he might not be able to go back for the time being naturally brought to mind the image of Xi Yun, as if he could imagine her sitting by the bed looking worried.

Yun'er, I'm afraid I have to apologize this time.

After thinking for a while, he said with a touch of sadness, "Yun'er, stay home and wait for me to come back."

Xiao Yu was taken aback. The last sentence was spoken in a much gentler tone, carrying helplessness and apology.

"Is that all?" Xiao Yu asked.

"Oh, and don't tell her I'm here."

He glanced behind him randomly and said, "You promised me you'd see her off."

“No problem, but you’ll have to wait a little longer. I’ll also help you modify some of your memories of this place. I don’t want you to send people to ambush me,” the man laughed, raising his hand and a beam of light entered Xiao Xue’s brow. Then her figure disappeared before his eyes.

But there's nothing we can do; once they discover that Suixin is missing, they'll definitely send someone over.

If someone were to come, he could resolve the situation as long as their cultivation level was below the Divine Origin Realm.
