The proprietress talked a lot.
The Xuanyu Sect was incredibly prosperous, and the surrounding area was an excellent place for business.
To earn a living, about half of the vendors on this street come from all over the country. Some come with their whole families, including their children, but most come as a couple or alone.
"During the Lunar New Year, regardless of whether people have family around or not, they like to get together, chat about everyday things, and give each other warmth. This has always been a tradition."
"Family Gathering" is the name of the event.
The proprietress's voice was very gentle. When the topic of activities came up, she immediately thought of family gatherings, and her eyes lit up.
Also one of the event organizers
"A family gathering? When?" Xi Yun asked hurriedly.
She was clearly very interested in these kinds of activities.
"It will start at 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve."
Xi Yun tugged at Sui Xin's sleeve, "Sui Xin, I want to go."
"Okay, since we don't have anything important to do anyway, let's just relax a bit."
It's the 26th now, and there are exactly four days left until the New Year. Since we don't need to go to the Divine Realm, we have plenty of time.
"Um"
Xi Yun chatted with the proprietress for a while longer. After the clothes were finished and brought out, she had no intention of leaving.
I don't really care; as long as she's happy, that's all that matters.
When leaving.
"Aunt Jun, wait for us on the 30th!" Xi Yun said to the landlady.
The proprietress's name is Junlan, she is thirty-five years old, and she is currently the only one doing business here. Her parents have passed away, and she has never been married.
They got along very well and started addressing each other by name after only a few words, which made it seem less awkward.
Junlan naturally adored Xiyun; after all, who could resist a lively and spirited girl?
Sui Xin watched from the side, occasionally chiming in with a few words. Seeing Xi Yun so happy made him quite pleased as well.
“Okay, then you two can just come to me,” Junlan replied.
"Okay, Aunt Jun, we'll be leaving now. Goodbye."
Sui Xin picked up the clothes, said goodbye to Junlan, and walked out. They had already seen the clothes; the name embroidered on the chest was very elegant, and Xi Yun liked it very much.
Junlan watched the two leave, and a slight pang of reluctance stirred within her heart.
"If only I had a daughter like Xiyun," Junlan thought to herself, feeling a void in her heart.
I've been away from home for seven or eight years and have always been alone. Although I've thought about finding a partner, I haven't found the right one and I don't want to compromise myself, so I've stayed away until now.
Thinking back, I must feel a bit lonely, because apart from serving customers, I don't even have anyone to talk to.
...
"Hehe, whatever you want to eat, I'll make it for you," Xi Yun said with a smile as she walked out.
Sui Xin turned her head, somewhat doubtful, "Is it edible? Maybe we should just pick any place..."
He was about to suggest finding a restaurant, but Xi Yun interrupted him, saying with a haughty look, "Of course we can, just tell me what you want to eat."
"Okay, I want boiled pork and fresh fish soup, I want the taste of Mom's cooking. How about it, can you make it?" Sui Xin said with a smile. These were the two dishes that Lu Yeling usually made for them the most.
"Cough cough, yes, I can. I've watched Mom cook before, so I can do it."
Xi Yun stroked her chin, shaking her head, as if to say, "I guess I can probably do it."
"Let's go buy groceries first," Xiyun said, pulling Suixin toward the vegetable market on the left before he could even speak.
I bought a fish, a pound of meat, some perilla leaves, some green vegetables, some scallions, ginger, and garlic; I still have seasonings at home.
Sui Xin followed behind Xi Yun.
To be honest, they were quite adept at it, and they would haggle from time to time. But in the end, they would always give at least one star stone because they didn't have those small denomination banknotes, so they had no choice but to do it this way.
The vendors initially didn't want to accept the money, saying that there wasn't much of it anyway, and since it was almost Chinese New Year, they might as well give it to them.
However, Xi Yun was very generous and simply handed it to them, saying "Wishing you prosperity."
And so, before the vegetables were even bought, the person became famous. Word spread quickly, and everyone said that a kind-hearted girl had come.
Xi Yun didn't pay much attention to it; it was just a small matter.
By the time the two finished shopping for groceries and came out, it was already getting dark; it gets dark early in winter.
"Time to go home"
They put all their belongings in storage bags, and the two held hands, each lost in their own thoughts.
Xi Yun was thinking about what to cook later, not wanting Sui Xin to look down on her.
As she thought about what happened that morning, she felt that her dream was a bit blurry. She couldn't even remember the reason for the loss of her life force. She only knew that she had a strange dream.
"Yun'er, do you remember the dream I told you about this morning? I can't seem to remember it."
"Hmm? Now that you mention it, I don't seem to remember either," Xi Yun thought for a while and felt a little strange. She clearly remembered it this morning, so how could she have forgotten it now?
"All I know is that you became like that because of me."
Some things are hard to forget...
Something's not right. There's definitely something wrong here. It seems like this happened last time too.
Sui Xin thought to herself, but didn't say it aloud, afraid of spoiling Xi Yun's interest.
"Suixin? What's wrong?" Xiyun asked, looking at Suixin who was deep in thought.
"Oh, it's nothing, go home now."
Xi Yun didn't think much of it; her mind was full of cooking.
…
As soon as she got home, Xiyun seemed impatient. She had been simulating for a long time on the way home and couldn't wait to take action. She was determined to give Suixin a big surprise.
"Suixin, help me tie this apron," Xiyun said, handing two aprons to Suixin.
