In the middle of the five-colored tribes, there is a great mountain.
It looks ordinary, but it is the central place of their clan, the place of worship.
Legend has it that the remains of gods are buried there, and some even believe that the gods are not dead and that if they are provided with food, they will one day awaken and lead them to the outside world.
...
After the banquet, Jianjun and the others were arranged to rest, and overall there seemed to be nothing unusual.
"We've found new offerings for the gods, and we're preparing to worship them tomorrow," the old clan chief said, stroking his beard. His voice was low and unreadable.
...
Most of the day has passed, and Sui Xin is still flying around, but still hasn't found a trace of it, marveling at the vastness of the forest.
His worry became increasingly apparent.
Suddenly, a tremendous force pulled him toward an unknown destination.
He desperately clung to a big tree, hoping to avoid being pulled away.
The gravity was so strong that I was sucked away after just a few breaths.
It can fly passively in the air at a speed dozens of times faster than when it flies on its own.
Could it be that Yun'er and the others were also taken away in the same way? Sui Xin couldn't help but wonder.
Since things have come to this, there's no point in struggling, so I started to observe my surroundings as I pleased.
But I lost interest after looking at it for a while; there was nothing there except for the woods.
...
After that, many more Sword Sect disciples who came in were captured, bringing the total to twenty, including Xi Yun and the other seven.
Xi Yun and Fei Rong lay on the same bed, having changed into new clothes.
I can't sleep. Even though I'm very sleepy, as soon as I lie down, all I can think about is his image.
She hasn't had a good night's sleep in over two months.
"Yun'er, are you asleep?" Fei Rong turned around and asked softly.
She couldn't sleep either. She was staying in someone else's house, not knowing whether they were friend or foe, so how could she possibly fall asleep?
Xi Yun shook her head.
Still worried about following your heart?
"Um",
Fei Rong looked at Xi Yun and, like an older sister, patted her hair, saying, "Sui Xin will be alright."
“He promised me he’d be back in a month,” Xi Yun said, her eyes already brimming with tears. “But it’s been two months, where has he been?”
It's not blame, it's worry.
Jianjun said that Suixin had not returned for a long time, and the sect had sent elders to investigate, but they found nothing.
“Maybe Suixin has already come back,” Fei Rong comforted him. “What we need to do is find a way out and reunite with him.”
“Hmm,” Xi Yun nodded blankly.
I hope so.
...
After breakfast the next day.
"Esteemed guests who have traveled from afar, today is our clan's ancestral worship ceremony. Would you please come with us?" the old man said with a smile.
"It is said that by worshipping the gods, one can receive guidance, and perhaps even find a way out."
The old man was a staunch believer that God was not dead, and hoped that one day God would take them out.
Looking at Jianjun and the others, the old man couldn't help but look forward to today's sacrificial ceremony.
“Alright,” Jianjun nodded. It would be good to see more of this tribe so he could better understand its situation.
“Alright, in that case, let’s go,” the old man said with a smile. “The ceremony is all ready.”
He got up and walked towards the door, with his clansmen standing on both sides, stretching all the way to the foot of the mountain in the center of the clan.
Their faces were all solemn, showing how much they valued this ceremony.
Jianjun and about twenty others followed the old man to the foot of the mountain.
"This mountain is extraordinary," Jianjun thought to himself.
At first, I didn't feel anything, but the closer I got to the mountain, the more I could feel its extraordinary nature. It seemed to have a transcendent quality, and even Jian Jun felt that his barrier was a little loose.
Keep in mind that he is a cultivator at the Divine Origin Realm, whose cultivation level can only be improved once every few decades. If he could be taken out, the effect would be unimaginable.
Stop thinking about it and keep going up.
He also learned about the sacrificial rites, but he didn't think such rites would actually be of any use.
It's mostly just speculation among the clansmen, a way to console themselves.
But when he reached the halfway point of the mountain, he changed his mind. He vaguely heard a heartbeat, which, though faint, gave him an incredibly powerful feeling.
Jianjun was startled and looked at the old man in shock. The old man also looked at him meaningfully and nodded.
The faint heartbeat is why the old man firmly believes that the gods are still alive.
However, the deities seem different today; the heartbeats that could only be heard on the mountaintop can be heard here.
"Could it be that the arrival of humans has excited the gods?" the old man wondered.
I'm increasingly looking forward to the upcoming sacrificial ceremony.
As noon approached, the group of people performing the ritual finally reached the mountaintop, their heartbeats pounding even harder.
A large, spacious square was filled with people standing neatly in their clothes, all dressed in colors that matched their body colors.
In the middle of the square is a hole from which shimmering, precious energy sprays out, mainly used for placing sacrificial offerings.
The sacrificial offerings, including fruits, cattle, and sheep, were all prepared, awaiting the arrival of the elders.
Just then, a dark shadow suddenly flew past and disappeared into the cave entrance. Even the old man and Jian Jun didn't react in time, subconsciously thinking that they were seeing things.
Only Xi Yun was taken aback. Her cultivation level was low, and she couldn't even see the shadow. She just inexplicably felt a familiar aura, the aura she had been longing for.
It disappeared again in an instant.
"As you please?" Xi Yun murmured to herself.
Then he lowered his head again. There was no such thing as following one's heart; it was all just fantasy.
A loud "boom" was heard.
The old man was taken aback, not knowing what had happened.
Fortunately, nothing further happened after that.
At noon, the sacrificial ceremony officially began.
