Chapter 50 Imprisonment

Chapter 50 Imprisonment

Wenxi was taken aback: "Is there something wrong with your focus?"

Shang Chen was actually worried that Wen Xi would be wronged, but he still followed up with Wen Xi's question and asked, "So you bought it?"

“I definitely didn’t buy it.” Wen Xi wasn’t out of her mind. “I called Lu Jinghuai and asked him if the Lu family was going to go through a tough time, I could buy the wedding ring for charity, since you donate so much to charity every year anyway.”

Shang Chen curled his lips: "All my money is in your hands, and you can do whatever you want with it."

"You can go on your business trip to Jiangnan without worry. I'll handle this matter."

Wenxi: "I called to let you know that the Lu family is probably making a scene right now, and they might drag you into it."

"Why should you be the one to solve the mess between the Lu and Wen families?"

Shang Chen paused, then said in a deep voice, "Wenxi, are you protecting me?"

Wen Xi said seriously, "You are my husband. If I don't protect you, who will I protect?"

"Um."

Shang Chen took a small sip of the water on the table.

After hanging up the phone, Shang Chen finally faced his own feelings.

He liked Wenxi's protection of him.

As soon as Wen Xi hung up the phone, Bai Wei asked in horror, "Wen Lu, what wedding ring?"

No wonder Lu Zhi didn't reply to the message; it turns out Yan Zhao and Lu Jinghuai had another argument.

Yan Zhao and Lu Jinghuai had a fight over a wedding ring, and in the end, Yan Zhao made Wen Lu buy the ring back?!

Bai Wei vaguely guessed that this wedding ring might be prepared for Wen Xi and Lu Jinghuai.

But what kind of crazy move is this?!

Wen Xi said without changing her expression, "Kid, don't ask so many questions."

Bai Wei: "..."

I want to eat melon seeds (gossip/spoiler), I'm frantically craving them!

When they arrived at the Jiangnan District Court, there was still half an hour before closing time, so Wenxi took Baiwei to the court first.

After gathering the information, she contacted Zhou Yuan's lawyer for a detailed discussion, but the lawyer was not very cooperative.

Bai Wei sighed: "Last time, Director Huang made a special trip to Jiangnan, only to be turned away. Zhou Yuan's side is too powerful and refuses to talk to us at all. A lot of the due diligence information on assets is also incomplete."

"The courts in Gangnam District are always playing games and have no intention of helping us..."

Wen Xi calmly replied, "It was expected."

"Mrs. Zhou has been staying in the capital all this time and refuses to return to Jiangnan. Can you guess why?"

Bai Wei: "It's hard for the poor to get divorced, but it's even harder for the rich. Cherish life and stay away from marriage."

Wenxi smiled but didn't say anything.

Based on her work experience, she agreed with Bai Wei's words, but based on her personal experience, she was already married and couldn't offer a fair opinion.

After leaving the court, Wenxi told Bai Wei to go back to the hotel first, and the two went their separate ways.

Wenxi's car was halfway there when it was suddenly stopped by two black cars, a BMW and a Bentley.

A familiar person stepped out of the Bentley.

Zhou Zhan knocked on the glass window, "Sister-in-law, my second uncle wants to talk to you."

Wen Xi said without changing her expression, "I also want to meet Mr. Zhou Yuan."

Half an hour later, Wenxi met Zhou Yuan.

Zhou Yuan exuded the demeanor of a successful person, as well as the arrogance of someone in a superior position. "You're Shang Chen's wife?"

Wen Xi quietly observed Zhou Yuan for a moment, then said, "Hello Mr. Zhou, I am Wen Xi, Ms. Lin's lawyer."

Zhou Yuan frowned.

Wenxi ignored his words and instead brought up her profession, which was very tactless.

Since Wenxi was oblivious to the situation, Zhou Yuan didn't stand on ceremony.

"I heard you came to Jiangnan this time to investigate me?"

Wenxi: "You're joking. I'm in a divorce case, not a criminal case."

"You haven't committed a crime, so why would I investigate you?"

Zhou Yuan gave Wen Xi a deep look: "So, did you find anything on this trip?"

"We have indeed gained some insights."

I've heard at least a few stories about Zhou Yuan's romantic escapades.

The news we hear in Jiangnan is even more exciting than anything we hear online.

Zhou Yuan smiled, his eyes deep and sharp, like an eagle eyeing its prey. "Even if your husband Shang Chen came, he wouldn't dare to investigate me. You've got some nerve."

Wenxi glanced at him.

“My husband isn’t a lawyer, so of course he doesn’t need to investigate the Zhou family’s assets.” Wen Xi smiled slightly. “But if he wanted to, it would only be a matter of a word.”

"You're incredibly arrogant."

After saying that, Zhou Yuan left with his men.

The door was locked from the inside, and Wenxi was trapped in the Zhou family's house.

To be more precise, it was an illegal restriction of personal freedom, commonly known as imprisonment.

For three hours, the water and electricity were cut off, and the house was pitch black.

The room was soundproofed, completely silent except for Wenxi's breathing.

Midway through, Zhou Zhan came over and said, "Lawyer Wen, my second uncle also wants to resolve this peacefully with you. As long as you can persuade my second aunt to withdraw the lawsuit or refuse to take on this case, we can agree on anything you want."

After Zhou Zhan finished speaking, there was not a sound around him.

If it weren't for the surveillance cameras, he would have suspected that something had happened to Wenxi.

Wenxi was perfectly fine; she was just thinking about how to proceed with the divorce case.

She didn't have many clues at first, but after talking to Shang Chen, he reminded her that the Central Inspection Team was coming to Jiangnan.

Wenxi quickly came up with a perfect idea.

She wasn't flustered at all because she had the support of the merchants and the Yan family.

Wenxi was certain that the Zhou family wouldn't dare to do anything to her.

Sure enough, fifteen minutes later, the door was opened.

She was a little surprised.

It was too early; she thought the Zhou family would lock her up for at least four or five hours.

As soon as Wenxi opened her eyes, she saw a tall and steady figure approaching from afar.

The man exuded a deep aura and walked with a steady gait. Approaching against the light, he resembled a majestic mountain peak collapsing.

When Wenxi saw his face clearly, her expression was full of surprise: "Why are you here?"

Shang Chen's gaze fell on Wen Xi, and he calmly and quickly took off his coat and draped it over Wen Xi's shoulders.

The man's voice was low and slow, "I saw the news that the temperature in Jiangnan was dropping, and I was afraid you'd forgotten to put on more clothes again."

Wen Xi's heart skipped a beat, and she chuckled, "So you came all this way to bring me a coat?"

"Um."

Before he could finish speaking, Wenxi took his hand and asked, "Shall we go home?"

Shang Chen: "Return."

Shang Chen's appearance here at this time suggests he likely flew here overnight.

As soon as Wenxi stepped outside, she saw Zhou Zhan rushing over.

Zhou Yuan did not show up.

Zhou Zhan: "Brother Chen..."

Shang Chen merely glanced at him and said indifferently, "Don't rush, we can settle the score slowly."

Zhou Zhan's expression immediately changed.

Wen Xi didn't rush to leave, but looked at Zhou Zhan and said, "Young Master Zhou, could you please pass on a message to your second uncle?"

Zhou Zhan became much more polite: "Please go ahead."

"I heard the Central Inspection Team is coming to Jiangnan?" Wenxi laughed. "I'd rather file for divorce than a criminal case."

What do you think?

Zhou Zhan smiled ingratiatingly: "Of course."

Shang Chen opened the car door, helped Wen Xi into the car, and then went around to the other side to get in his car.
