Chapter 6 "Has it affected your sex life?"
During the meal, Wenxi noticed that Shang Chen's wedding ring was gone.
Just assume he was having trouble cooking and took it temporarily.
Shang Chen took a sip of water. "You eat first."
"It's so late, do you still have work to do?"
Shang Chen stared at her with his dark eyes for a while before uttering two words: "Meeting."
When Wenxi pulled Shang Chen away from the Yan family, she used his excuse that he had to attend a meeting that night.
But Wenxi made up an excuse on the spot.
Wenxi: "I didn't expect you to actually have the skills?"
Shang Chen nodded slightly, "After all, I'm a workaholic."
Wenxi clicked her tongue lightly.
It's surprising that Shang Chen holds a grudge.
She remembered him for once mentioning that he was a workaholic.
She then brought up Lu Jinghuai: "Would you mind if Lu Jinghuai told you about me?"
Putting herself in her shoes, if Yan Zhao came to tell her about Shang Chen's likes and habits, she wouldn't be happy.
Shang Chen: "I don't mind."
"I believed you when you said you didn't mind," Wen Xi added. "I didn't expect him to bring me up."
“We didn’t develop any feelings for each other, but we definitely need to be careful about the boundaries in our relationship.”
"If you have any doubts or complaints, it's best to speak them out directly to avoid leaving any potential problems."
Before her marriage, Wenxi met Shang Chen once, and Wenxi confessed her engagement to Lu Jinghuai at that time.
Her engagement to Lu Jinghuai was arranged because she couldn't stand the pressure from her family to get married, and it was done to appease both families.
The two agreed to a three-year term.
If you still don't like anyone after three years, then turn this fake relationship into a real one and spend the rest of your lives together.
If so, then dissolve the marriage and wish each other well.
Wenxi had no feelings for Lu Jinghuai and always regarded him as an older brother, which is why she gave up her engagement with Lu Jinghuai so easily.
Wenxi had also told both sets of parents about this matter.
The Lu family adored Wenxi so much that everyone thought Wenxi would have married Lu Jinghuai if Yan Zhao hadn't revealed her crush on her.
After all, a family like the Lu family is hard to find even with a lantern.
Wenxi and Lu Jinghuai grew up together, so it's much better than marrying Shang Chen, whom she's never even met.
Wenxi suddenly asked again, "Why did you agree to change your marriage partner in the first place?"
The Yan and Wen families were the ones who switched the babies, and the businesses should not have to bear the consequences for their mistake.
Wenxi never expected that Shang Chen would agree to marry her.
Shang Chen countered, "Why did you agree to marry me?"
Wenxi thought about it carefully, "It's suitable."
Shang Chen: "Me too."
Wen Xi smiled slightly, "You have good taste."
Shang Chen was taken aback, probably because it was the first time he had discovered that Wen Xi had a narcissistic side.
The room fell silent. Suddenly, Shang Chen spoke up: "You can't feel the cold. Have you been like this since you were little?"
Wenxi lowered her eyes: "More or less."
Shang Chen had never heard of this situation before, so he didn't ask too many questions.
Before going upstairs, Shang Chen mentioned his schedule: "I'm going on a business trip tomorrow and won't be home for a while."
What time is tomorrow?
"The flight departs at 5 PM."
Wenxi: "Let's go to my parents' house for lunch tomorrow."
Shang Chen remained silent, unsure which parents Wen Xi was referring to.
Wenxi realized she hadn't expressed herself clearly: "Your parents."
“I’ve just married into the family and I’m not familiar with your family yet. Let’s have a couple more meals together to build a relationship.”
Shang Chen: "I'll have my secretary arrange it."
Wenxi wanted to eat at the restaurant because she liked the family atmosphere there.
With work wrapping up at the end of the year, she anticipates being very busy and plans to take advantage of the remaining time to visit more businesses.
Shang Chen's meeting lasted quite a while; by the time he finished, it was already midnight.
When he returned to the master bedroom, Wenxi was already asleep.
The bedside lamp on his side was lit, emitting a soft halo of light; it must have been left on by Wenxi for him.
The soft light outlined Wenxi's facial features; her skin was as white as winter snow melting into cold jade.
Compared to her capable and aloof demeanor during the day, Wenxi appeared much gentler at this moment.
Wenxi's beauty is aggressive, both cold and glamorous, seemingly understated yet actually proud.
On the day they were supposed to meet before their wedding, her high heels broke on the way, and she was a few minutes late.
With a ding, the elevator doors opened.
When Shang Chen looked up, he saw Wen Xi carrying her high heels in one hand, wearing a white shirt and black trousers, walking barefoot out of the elevator.
The date was to be held at the most upscale and secluded private restaurant in Beijing, with extremely luxurious decor.
Wen Xi merely raised her eyes and calmly surveyed the entire scene, exuding arrogance and composure.
"Sorry I'm late."
"This meal is on me."
At that time, Shang Chen realized that his new fiancée and Yan Zhao were two completely different types of people.
Shang Chen's gaze fell on Wen Xi's arm that was outside.
Her skin was fair and smooth, and her wrists were slender; she was much gentler than she was.
The temperature has dropped quickly recently, and Shang Chen just learned from Lu Jinghuai that Wen Xi can't feel the cold and often gets sick when the seasons change.
He stood there for a moment and then took Wenxi's arm and tucked it into the blanket.
As I withdrew my hand, the warmth of my fingertips quietly spread.
It's like grabbing a wad of cotton and then suddenly letting go.
Even though there was nothing in my palm, it felt as if it were filled with the softness of cotton.
The next day, when Wenxi got up to go for a run, Shang Shen was having breakfast.
Her gaze unconsciously fell on Shang Chen's fingertips, where there was no ring.
Shang Chen greeted her first: "Good morning."
"Good morning." Wen Xi nodded. "You're not wearing your ring?"
"I'm not used to it." Shang Chen: "It's not very convenient at work either."
Wenxi didn't say anything and went out for a run as usual.
By the time she finished her run, Shang Chen had already finished eating and was getting ready to go to work.
Wenxi leisurely put on her makeup, and only when it was 8:30 did she close the makeup cabinet and prepare to leave.
Halfway there, she turned back, took off her wedding ring, and put it in the drawer.
As soon as Wenxi arrived at Zhongda, she saw the administrative assistant, Lehui, standing by the printer with a worried look on her face, printing documents and muttering complaints. It was unclear who she was complaining about.
Wenxi handed her a cup of coffee, saying, "You wanted the coffee I brought you."
Le Hui immediately smiled and leaned against the printer: "Thank you, beautiful Ms. Wen."
She glanced at Wenxi from head to toe. "Looks like you're enjoying your honeymoon?"
On the day Wenxi got her marriage certificate, she sent wedding candy to the entire law firm.
The ultimate luxury chocolate set sells for several thousand dollars per serving.
Everyone knew that Wenxi was the daughter of the Wen family, but they were still shocked when they received the wedding candy. They were all guessing whether the groom's family was of similar or even more wealthy than hers.
People from Zhongda Law Firm posted photos of wedding candy, successfully dominating social media feeds for an entire day.
Those in the industry who have heard of Wenxi know that she got married and have sent their congratulations.
Wenxi: "How could I not feel refreshed if I start work at nine in the morning?"
Le Hui chuckled, "I heard that Huang Yaoshi is truly ruthless. He made you work overtime until 1 a.m. on your second day of marriage, tsk tsk."
Huang Laoxie was Wenxi's master. Because of his eccentric temper and the fact that his surname was Huang, he was nicknamed Huang Laoxie in the circle.
"Has it affected your sex life?"
Wenxi: "It won't affect anything."
What can influence something that never existed in the first place?
