Chapter 45 "My back is fine."
Zhou Zhan's smile was strained.
If he had the guts to bring this up in front of Shang Chen, he wouldn't have come to talk to Wen Xi in private.
Wenxi wiped her sweat with a towel and took a business card out of her bag, placing it on the table.
"Young Master Zhou, this is my business card. If you ever want to clarify the relationship between the lawyer representing the plaintiff, you can come to me."
"I'll teach you for free."
After leaving her business card, Wenxi left briskly.
Although Wenxi had only recently switched to litigation and didn't have much experience, she had seen many veteran lawyers around her being threatened, so she didn't take it to heart at all.
Just as Wenxi left, Tang Shao returned. "Where's your sister-in-law?"
Zhou Zhan: "I'm gone."
Tang Shao, with his sharp eyes, noticed the business card on the round table and picked it up curiously: "Did your sister-in-law leave her business card behind?"
Zhou Zhan smiled and said, "It wasn't left behind, it was left for me."
"Leave it to you?"
"Yes, it gave me the opportunity to attend classes at her law firm and spread legal knowledge."
Tang Shao chuckled: "You can go there more often. I heard that your sister-in-law is quite famous in the Beijing legal circle. Maybe you can even run into Brother Shen."
Zhou Zhan remained noncommittal.
When Wenxi arrived at the pond, Shang Shen was sitting upright in a chair, looking relaxed, with his fishing rod motionless beside him.
He had a mature and composed demeanor.
In a daze, Wenxi could picture him with white hair, sitting upright by the pond, staring at his fishing rod.
This man exuded an aura of composure and steadiness from the inside out.
Wenxi dragged a small stool over and sat down next to him.
Shang Chen turned around upon hearing the voice: "Why didn't you ride for a little longer?"
Wenxi is returning to the capital and will be very busy with work, so she will probably have few opportunities to ride horses.
"I'm a little tired."
Shang Chen put down his fishing rod: "Shall we go back and rest?"
Wenxi: "No, you keep fishing. I'll just watch over you and get some rest."
Shang Chen: "..."
What kind of rest is this?
Wenxi added, "I'm just curious whether you'll actually catch any fish today."
Shang Chen: "..."
It seems a bit embarrassing if you can't catch a single fish.
Shang Chen quickly suppressed the thought.
Dark clouds loomed overhead, threatening a downpour, but nothing happened for a long time; instead, the mountain wind stirred up the winds everywhere.
Feeling comfortable in the breeze, Wenxi simply leaned against Shang Chen's back for a short rest.
As she drifted off to sleep, Wenxi let out a soft sigh.
This man exuded an air of rigidity from head to toe. Even when fishing, he sat so upright, his back ramrod straight.
Don't you know it's uncomfortable to lean like that?
Unbeknownst to her, because she was leaning against him, Shang Chen was deliberately sitting upright and motionless.
I was afraid that even the slightest movement would wake her.
The already straight spine became even more stiff.
Wenxi felt a sense of security as she smelled the cool yet deep scent emanating from Shang Chen.
In this moment, time is peaceful and the world is vast.
However, after only dozing off for a little over half an hour, it started raining.
Wenxi was awakened by the noisy rain. She lazily opened her eyes and subconsciously looked at Shang Chen's straight back.
Shang Chen: "Awake?"
Wenxi avoided answering, but asked curiously, "Have you been sitting like this all morning?"
Her gaze fell on Shang Chen's waist, and she noticed that his waist was quite slender.
Unfortunately, both times it happened at night, and Wenxi didn't get a good look at it.
Shang Chen must have a great figure, right?
Her question seemed rather odd, so Shang replied in a deep voice, "You could say that."
"Your back is fine."
After Wenxi finished speaking, she saw Shang Chen's dark eyes staring at her.
Wen Xi remained calm. "I was just praising you. Don't overthink it."
Shang Chen: "I didn't think much of it. What did you overthink?"
Wenxi: "..."
They were outmaneuvered.
Wenxi looked up at the sky. "The rain is getting heavier. Let's go back."
Anyway, you can't catch any fish.
Shang Chen responded and had just stood up when Shang Zhe wandered over from who-knows-where.
"Brother and sister-in-law, are you going back?"
Wen Xi stared at Shang Zhe's dark circles and curled her lips into a smile. "Did you do something like that last night?"
Shang Zhe: "I watched movies all night last night."
What movie is so good?
My eyes are so tired from staying up all night, I look like I've aged ten years.
Shang Zhe said meaningfully, "It's the movie my older brother likes."
Wenxi looked up at Shang Chen.
Shang Chen remained silent.
Their eyes met, and Wenxi suddenly thought of the movie on the private jet.
She said without changing her expression, "It's raining now, why don't you go back and catch up on some sleep?"
Shang Zhe waved his hand, "Big brother and sister-in-law, you should go and rest too. My mom said you should come home for dinner next time."
"Tell my aunt that I will definitely go when I have time."
Back at the villa, Wenxi asked Shang Chen, "Did you lend your private jet to Shang Zhe?"
Shang Chen stuck the umbrella into the leaky bucket. "Hmm."
Wenxi: "The flavor is truly unique."
Shang Chen, expressionless, said to the dark-skinned Shang Zhe: "He just likes this flavor."
Wenxi thought of how Shang Zhe had watched porn all night, and her expression became somewhat complicated.
Indeed, excessive indulgence in sex is harmful to health.
Wenxi walked to the water dispenser and asked Shang Chen, "Would you like some water?"
Shang Chen didn't stand on ceremony, "Yes."
Wenxi poured two glasses of water and noticed a box of red dates and a box of goji berries on the shelf next to her.
She slowly poured some goji berries out of the box.
Shang Chen took a towel and wiped his shoulders.
He just came over with an umbrella, and his shoulders were a little wet.
Seeing that Wenxi had been pouring water for a long time without any reaction, Shang Chen casually raised his eyes.
From his position, he could only see Wenxi's back and had no idea what Wenxi was fiddling with with her head down.
By the time Shang Chen looked away, Wen Xi had already brought over the water.
"Be careful, it's a little hot."
Shang Chen's dark, ink-black eyes stared at the red goji berries floating in the cup, and he slowly raised his eyes.
"Wenxi".
Wen Xi was also looking at Shang Chen, and asked in confusion, "Hmm?"
"I don't like goji berries."
"Drink a little; it's good for your health."
"Don't you know whether I'm healthy or not?"
Wenxi stood there, holding her water glass, stunned.
Her first reaction was, "So even the serious and meticulous Shang Chen from ancient times can talk nonsense?"
Wenxi said calmly, "You're in good health, and I'm actually looking to take some tonics."
She switched her water with Shang Chen's water.
Shang Chen took the water, his dark eyes still fixed on Wen Xi. "It's raining. I'm afraid we won't be able to go out this afternoon."
Wenxi: "The rainy scenery in Jiangnan is also beautiful. It's a good opportunity to enjoy it at home."
Shang Chen: "Would you like some red wine?"
Wenxi almost slipped while holding the water glass.
Every time she and Shang Shen talked about red wine, there was a subtle, ambiguous undertone.
Only then did she realize the implication behind Shang Shen's earlier statement that he couldn't leave the house that afternoon.
Wenxi's throat went hoarse when she thought of the six-pack.
Shang Chen added, "The temperature is just right today, so we shouldn't sweat too much."
Wenxi stared at Shang Chen for a few seconds, refusing to believe it.
How could he say something so inappropriate with such a serious face?
But thinking about it, it makes sense.
It has been more than a month since the last time.
Adult men and women have normal needs, especially since they are a legally married couple.
No matter what you do, you must be certified to work.
Wenxi: "..."
Their eyes met, and Shang Chen's aura grew increasingly powerful, invisibly enveloping Wen Xi.
Wenxi thought about it seriously for a moment, then said, "Should I go take a shower first?"
Shang Chen: "No rush, let's have lunch first."
Wenxi: "...You're right too."
There's no reason to work on an empty stomach.
But those words make it sound like she's in a hurry?
Wen Xi, who was usually calm and rational, was at a loss when faced with a man like Shang Chen, who was even calmer, more rational, and more methodical.
Wenxi ate the meal absentmindedly.
I doubt anyone who schedules sex as a task after lunch would be able to eat in peace.
After finishing their meal, Wenxi and Shang Chen looked at each other, and there was an awkward silence in the air.
Although this wasn't the first time for the two of them, the previous two times were at night.
At night, many things tend to fall into place more naturally.
A single glance between them was more ambiguous and open than during the day.
The same arrangement seemed to become even more awkward during the day.
