Chapter 22 Necklace
Mia was deeply impressed by Wenxi when they first met five years ago.
She is beautiful, aloof, highly professional, and exudes arrogance.
Her client recanted his testimony in court and even accused her of instigating the other party to extort money from the Shang family.
Wenxi didn't even flinch. With clear thinking and rigorous logic, she found the loopholes in the other person's words and politely "scolded" the other person until they were utterly ashamed.
Mia became interested in Wenxi at the time, especially after learning that Wenxi was a new lawyer, and she decided to recruit her into the Shang family business.
However, after encountering several setbacks, Mia forgot about Wenxi.
A young female secretary knocked on the door, placed a glass of water in front of Manager Mi, and couldn't help but compliment her, "Manager Mi, your necklace is really beautiful."
Mia tucked her well-maintained curly hair behind her ear and smiled calmly and leisurely: "It's really not bad."
"I heard that President Shang personally picked it out for you?"
Mia glanced at her with a smile: "What nonsense are you talking about?"
The secretary gave her a knowing look and slowly withdrew.
Upon hearing the words "President Shang," Wen Xi's gaze fell on Mia's neck.
Her neck was very white and slender, and she wore a purple diamond necklace that accentuated her best features.
Wenxi just felt that the necklace around her neck looked familiar.
After looking at it for a while, I finally remembered why it looked familiar.
Mia's necklace appears to be from the same designer as her bracelet.
It might still be from a set of jewelry?
Wenxi went to the restroom and leaned against the wall of the secretary's office to check her bracelet.
Unsurprisingly, Mia's necklace and her bracelet were a set.
The entire jewelry set is called "Heart of the Purple Rose," and includes a necklace, a bracelet, a pair of purple diamond earrings, and a bangle.
I could hear the conversation between the young women in the secretarial office.
"I just saw Manager Mi's diamond necklace, it's so beautiful, it must be worth at least tens of millions! I heard it was a gift from President Shang when she went on a business trip with him last time?"
"I just asked, and although Manager Mi didn't admit it, he hinted at it."

Back in the meeting room, as soon as Wenxi sat down, Mia noticed her bracelet.
She raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Wen Lu, your bracelet is very pretty."
"After not seeing you for several years, Wen Lu's career is booming, and he can wear a bracelet worth tens of millions of yuan without hesitation."
“Manager Mi is also very capable. She has risen through the ranks in the past two years, from the branch office to the headquarters.” Wen Xi glanced at the necklace around her neck: “Your necklace is also very beautiful. It probably wasn’t cheap.”

Wenxi: "Your boyfriend gave it to you?"

He made a gesture of invitation.
Wen Xi nodded slightly and stood up to leave with Assistant Wu.
Mia was taken aback when she heard Wu address him as Assistant Wu: "Assistant Wu, and who is this?"
Assistant Wu introduced her as "Mr. Shang's wife."
Mia's expression stiffened slightly.
Meeting Wen Xi's gaze, she suddenly laughed and said, "I had heard that President Shang was newly married, but I never expected that Attorney Wen would be President Shang's new wife."
Assistant Wu: "Does Manager Mi know his wife?"
Wenxi didn't mention the past, and spoke first before Mia: "I just saw that Manager Mi's necklace was nice, so we chatted for a bit."
Assistant Wu hadn't noticed Mia's necklace before, but when Wen Xi mentioned it, his gaze unconsciously fell on Mia's neck.
Wu, the assistant, is able to get close to Shang Chen; his intelligence and emotional intelligence are both top-notch.
He immediately recognized that Mia's necklace and Wenxi's bracelet were from the same jewelry set.
A cold sweat broke out on his back. Assistant Wu smiled calmly and said, "It does look familiar."
“I think I saw this necklace when Mr. Shang was picking out a gift for his wife during his last business trip.”
"Manager Mi was there at the time and said he could give some advice." Assistant Wu looked like he suddenly realized something. "President Shang wanted to give his wife a bracelet, so he bought the bracelet separately. I didn't expect that Manager Mi would also buy the necklace from the set."
As Shang Chen's special assistant, all of Shang Chen's business trips and gift-giving matters had to go through Assistant Wu's hands.
I'm afraid even Shang Chen didn't understand Mia's little scheme.
Assistant Wu explained the origin of the necklace around Mia's neck in just a few words, thus clearing Shang Chen's name.
Mia's smile faltered, and she seemed a little flustered.
She wanted to curry favor with Shang Chen, so she often spread rumors in the company that seemed plausible, making people think she was one of Shang Chen's people and that she could use Shang Chen's influence to get ahead in the company.
Last time she went on a business trip with Shang Chen, she saw that Shang Chen bought a bracelet for his newlywed wife. Before returning to China, she specially spent money to buy a necklace from the same set, and rumors spread that it was a gift from Shang Chen.
When others asked, she would of course not admit it, but that didn't stop others from thinking that she had climbed up to Shang Chen and benefited from his influence.
Mia was very careful and didn't leave any evidence. Even if someone told Shang Chen about it, she could clear herself of all charges.
After all, she didn't say anything; it was all just people making wild guesses.
She never expected to meet Shang Chen's newlywed wife.
If Wenxi were to confront Shang Chen and make a scene, her future at the Shang family would likely be difficult.
Mia quickly adjusted her mindset and said with a smile, "Last time I accompanied President Shang to look at jewelry, I really liked this necklace, but it was too expensive. I couldn't raise that much money in a short time, so I went to raise the money first and then bought it later."
Wen Xi smiled and said, "So you bought it yourself. Didn't Manager Mi just say it was a gift from someone else?"
Mia smiled and said, "Everyone has a bit of vanity."
Wen Xi said calmly, "Manager Mi has risen from branch manager to group manager in five years, which goes without saying. I think it's more admirable to hear that you bought it yourself than to hear that it was a gift from someone else."
Mia was slightly taken aback; she hadn't expected Wenxi to say that.
“Wenlu is right, my perspective is not broad enough.”
Once outside, Assistant Wu could no longer remain calm. "Madam, there seems to be a misunderstanding."
Wenxi: "You don't need to worry, I know what I'm doing."
"I wouldn't distrust my husband just because of some rumors."
Assistant Wu wiped his sweat: "I accompanied Mr. Wu to buy your bracelet. He only chose the bracelet and definitely didn't buy anything else!"
Assistant Wu didn't dare to say anything either.
If he hadn't reminded him, Shang Chen probably wouldn't have even bought the bracelet.
