Gu Changzhou cried his heart out, but he didn't rush over again. Gradually, I became less afraid.
Finally, driven by curiosity, I managed to ask, "Who is he?"
He stopped crying and quickly wiped the blood and tears off his face.
Seemingly pleased that I didn't know who he was, he even smiled and murmured:
"You've forgotten him too, that's good, very good."
He turned and smiled at me again.
"Nobody. You just need to know that you are my master and I am your disciple. He is an insignificant person, yes, he is insignificant."
This doesn't sound like it was meant for me. It seems wrong from every angle. Maybe they're taking advantage of my lack of education and that I'm not very bright.
If he is an insignificant person, why would "I" rather abandon my own disciple than let go of an insignificant "him"?
There's clearly something fishy going on here.
I guess that person must have been someone very close to me in a past life, otherwise, why would they do that?
But since he was unwilling to mention that person, I had no choice but to suppress the burning gossip fire in my chest.
Who knows, if I ask again, Gu Changzhou might go crazy again.
Recently, I've discovered that since descending to the mortal realm, I've become incredibly weak. Looking around, there's no one I can afford to offend, a stark contrast to the demon princess who once roamed the six realms and whom no one dared to provoke.
It's truly a case of divine retribution being clear and justice being served; it's not that retribution won't come, it's just that the time hasn't arrived yet.
Having lost his spiritual power, Mo Han's strength was far inferior to before. The dignified war god of the Celestial Clan could not even keep up with the cultivation speed of Yu Xuan, a mere gatekeeper.
"Alright then, whatever you say goes. Now that you've acknowledged your master and I've accepted you as my disciple, kowtow and take your leave. I'm tired and need to rest. Come and pay your respects again tomorrow."
This was my first time taking on an apprentice, and I had no experience. But at this crucial moment, all the storybooks I'd read over the years came in handy.
I'm just not sure if this is the right thing to say, but I don't think there's a single word wrong with it.
"I told you to stop watching that nonsense, but you wouldn't listen. Do you think you can just take on any disciple? And you're even kowtowing and begging for forgiveness? Do you really think you're performing a grand opera?"
Thunder rumbled overhead, another sharp thud on the head, it hurt like hell.
That damned Mo Han, why is he always picking on me? I just wanted to get rid of him, does it matter what words I use?
Also, is this disciple someone I wanted to take on? It was someone I took on in my past life. Now that they've come knocking on our door, and we can't beat them, what else can we do but accept them without hesitation?
What's wrong with having a disciple who is powerful and incredibly beautiful? Men's hearts are truly unfathomable, like needles at the bottom of the sea. I just can't understand them.
"Don't hurt her, or don't blame me for being impolite."
I was about to retort when Gu Changzhou interrupted me.
"Fight if you want, I'm not afraid of you."
Mo Han didn't dare to show weakness either, looking ready to fight at any time.
But I knew he was almost at his limit. He had been expending his spiritual energy to heal me for the past few months, and his spiritual energy was nearly depleted.
He was a primordial god who cultivated the path of slaughter. He lacked merit and had no continuous source of spiritual power to replenish him. Facing an opponent of unknown cultivation level, he had no chance of fighting at all.
Is this still Mo Han with such a fiery temper?
I sighed inwardly, then silently stepped forward to shield Mo Han behind me, just like before.
