Chapter Four: Immortal? Demon?

The newcomer was gentle and refined, exceptionally handsome, with a sculpted face and distinct features. His angular face was exceptionally beautiful, and the undisguised smile in his eyes was like the warm spring sun, as if all worries could be swept away.

Looking closely, it seems that his eyebrows and eyes bear some resemblance to mine.

I was so stunned that I didn't even notice when he pulled off my blanket. Sure enough, when you get old, you can't resist these beautiful temptations. What if he really was a lecherous playboy sent by Ji Ruchen to torment me? I would be his meal by now.

Although it doesn't seem to be much better now.

The strangest thing was that I actually wanted to throw myself into his arms and cry my heart out. That familiar warmth was something I craved and couldn't help but feel. It was a feeling I had never had before, not even when facing my beloved father or Ji Ruchen, whom I was obsessed with all my life.

"Have we met somewhere before?"

The man didn't answer, but carefully helped me sit up, his eyes fixed on my empty legs, his hands trembling slightly, his eyes bloodshot, as if someone had ripped out his heart.

This scene did not last long; almost instantly, all emotions were suppressed, and upon closer inspection, he remained as gentle and refined as jade, and as handsome as an unparalleled beauty.

The look in his eyes that seemed like a demon had descended was just an illusion.

After I sat down against the wall, the person carefully covered me with a blanket and then fed me porridge spoonful by spoonful. I ate it all without even thinking.

I, Luo Qingyi, have lived for twenty-two years and have never been cared for so meticulously.

My mother died in childbirth when I was born. My father was very good to me when I was little, but he never took such meticulous care of me. At most, he made sure I had enough to eat and wear. Later, after he married a second wife, he gradually became distant from me.

Later, after my second aunt gave birth to my second and third brothers, I became an outsider in the family, not even as good as the servants. After I came of age, I simply moved out and lived on my own.

Later, I encountered Ji Qingji Ruchen, the crown prince of the Wing Kingdom, who was being hunted down.

He was also a handsome man, and I fell in love with him at first sight.

At that time, he had a sword wound on his shoulder and was thrown off a cliff. I don't know what he used to cushion the fall, but he was still alive after falling from such a high cliff. Although he survived, it was worse than death. Except for his eyes, there was no part of his body that was unharmed.

It was just a few days before the spring hunt, so I went to the mountains a day early to lie in wait, thinking I could pull off a big heist. There were a lot of good stuff on the cliffs there that could fetch a lot of money. I had hunted a lot of mountain goods during the day and stored them on the cliffs. Why couldn't I just take them home?

That's because the officials in charge of the forest park particularly hated us hunters who wanted to strike first.

To fill my stomach, I often went into the mountains early, which made me the target of their vigilance. In order not to arouse suspicion, I had to pretend to go back to Luofengtang every year, against my conscience.

There was a fairly large cave on that cliff, with its entrance overgrown with wormwood, making it very well hidden. I would temporarily store the prey I caught in those few days in the cave.

That night, as usual, I went to the cave to store my prey. Just as I finished putting things away and picked up two rabbits to find a place to satisfy my hunger, something whistled past the cave entrance, bringing with it a gust of cold wind.

Upon closer inspection, the stone gate was stained with a lot of blood; could it be that someone else had also discovered this place?

My alarm bells rang, and I found a secluded spot to take aim.
