Chapter Twenty-Four: I'll count to three, two, one, and you're off!

As I stepped out of Liangrenju's gate, a magnificent and exquisite carriage stood ready, clearly indicating that its owner was determined to get rid of me.

Unfortunately, I can agree to everything else, but not this one.

He can never get rid of me in this lifetime; it's just a temporary weariness. I'll just stay away from him for now.

"It really is you! Why are you back?" Xiao Qing also arrived.

Why can't I come back?

This is really strange. Everyone is surprised when they see me. Although I don't know why I have such a face that could bring ruin to a country, I made ample preparations yesterday and wore a veil, so no one should have been able to tell.

Something must have happened that I don't know about; we must find out the truth as soon as possible.

"Yes, but Xiaoqing thinks it's better for Miss to stay in Minchuan."

Xiao Qing's gaze was noticeably evasive, as if she knew something but didn't intend to tell me.

"Oh, where do you mean that?"

I asked her why, but she couldn't answer. When I asked again, she simply shut up and remained silent.

It seems impossible to get anything out of Xiao Qing; we'll have to find another way.

Since she didn't answer, I didn't ask any more questions. They were all acquaintances, and I couldn't make things too difficult for her.

I gave Mu Bai a long and earnest lecture, telling him to take good care of that heartless Ji Ruchen while I was away, and to also settle his own marriage, so that he wouldn't forget he was still a male bird just because he was always pretending to be a woman.

Then, reluctantly, they boarded the carriage, only to find that Xiao Qing also wanted to get on.

This Ji Ruchen is truly spoiled rotten; he dared to openly send someone to spy on me, and that was my most trusted maid.

"I'll count to three, two, one, then get off!"

“Miss, why get angry? Young Master just wants Xiao Qing to be by your side to protect you. The capital is very different now than before; it’s dangerous.”

She spoke in a cryptic and incoherent way, which was quite annoying. I didn't answer her; I just stared at her.

"Why does Miss dislike Xiao Qing so much? Xiao Qing has never wronged Miss."

Perhaps thinking of my past glory, she reluctantly went down, and before leaving, she couldn't help but shed tears, which was quite an eyesore.

I urged Mu Bai to hurry up and ignored her. Knowing my temper, she didn't dare to argue with me anymore and slunk away.

I asked Mu Bai where Ji Ruchen wanted him to send me to so he could feel at ease, and he said at least Guantai Prefecture.

Therefore, I must find a way to get away as soon as possible. When the carriage reached the city, I excused myself to go to the toilet and got off the carriage.

It happened to be market day, and there were many pedestrians on the road. I spotted a house called Baihualou and ran away. Mu Bai followed closely behind. At the critical moment, I had no choice but to tear open my collar, remove my veil, and pretend to put one of my arms under her blade. I lied and said that Mu Bai had not only seduced my husband, which I had discovered, but also, relying on her power and influence, she wanted to kill me in the street.

As expected, the crowd was indignant, and I succeeded. Mu Bai was cornered and unable to move, and a kind young hero even rescued me from dire straits.

I was filled with boundless gratitude and was about to properly thank him when I saw the wicked man's rosy cheeks.

Despite being incredibly flustered inside, I calmly thanked him on the surface.

"Luo Qingyi, it's been years since I last saw you. Your acting skills have become more and more superb. I admire you more and more as a big... big sister."

The moment that scoundrel opened his mouth, I knew it was all over; the man I'd been supporting for four years was gone.
