Chapter Twenty: The Ultimate Killer Move – "Leave it to Fate" (Let's learn about it)

"Who goes there? How dare you trespass on a respectable person's property? Don't you have a death wish?" Finally, someone spoke, and it was terrifying.

Judging from the voice, it sounds like Butler Fei.

"It's me, Uncle Fei. Where has everyone else gone? Why are you all alone? Where are Xiao Qing and the others?"

"You little rascal, how dare you come here? Get out of here right now!"

It was indeed Butler Fei. I finally felt relieved, but he seemed to dislike me.

Could it be that Ji Ruchen is really angry with me this time and doesn't want me anymore? Actually, I can explain.

"Uncle Fei, you haven't answered my question yet. Where have all the people here gone?"

But for some reason, as soon as Butler Fei came in front of me, his eyes were fixed on my legs, and he kept muttering things like "How is this possible? Impossible. It doesn't make sense."

“What? How is that possible?” I asked him.

"Your legs... your legs..." For some reason, he was stammering today. Could it be that people get stuttering as they get older?

"What's wrong with my leg...? Is there something wrong?" The old man was hard of hearing, so I almost shouted as I spoke, and even turned around a few times to show him.

He seemed to remember something and kept urging me to hurry up. When I asked him why, he couldn't give a clear answer. He just kept urging me on, as if he was in a hurry.

There was nothing I could do but leave. Once I left Liangrenju, I thought I'd find a place nearby to rest.

But the surrounding area was so desolate that I couldn't find an inn to rest in, or even a place to eat. What on earth had happened here? If it weren't for the fact that we were under the emperor's nose, I would have suspected that we had been robbed by bandits.

Just as I was lost in thought, someone on horseback flashed past me. Judging from the back view, it looked a lot like Ji Ruchen. I tried calling out to him.

The man returned, and upon closer inspection, it really was him.

"Who are you and why are you here? Didn't we tell you not to come near here? It seems some people are still too curious."

The first thing he asked me when he saw me was who I was, which was really going too far.

"Ji Ruchen, have you taken the wrong medicine? You don't even recognize your wife? Do you want me to help you remember?"

"Who are you, and what are your intentions?" To my surprise, he became enraged and grabbed my neck.

I tried desperately to knock his hand away, but he gripped it tighter and tighter. Finally, I was so scared that I had no choice but to use my ultimate move: "Leave it to fate."

Seeing that I stopped struggling, he released me instead.

The first thing I wanted to do when I was free was to curse, but I held back because I remembered my gentle and virtuous image.

"This humble woman, Luo Qingyi, greets Your Highness the Crown Prince." I reluctantly bowed to him.

He seemed to laugh in extreme anger, but spoke in a gentle and refined tone:

“You’re joking, young lady. Although she does resemble you in some ways, she is definitely not you. I could not possibly be mistaken. I doubt there is another woman as beautiful as you in the entire Kingdom of Yi.”

This is strange. I just can't remember some things, so why does everyone say I look like them but it's not me? It's understandable that Huo Shui Di doesn't recognize me, since we haven't seen each other for many years. In his eyes, I look a bit different. But there's no reason why Lian Ji Ru Chen wouldn't recognize me. Although he's busy with official duties and can't see me every day, we can still see each other once every month or two. No matter how much I've changed, there's no way he wouldn't recognize me. What happened?
