Standing on the city wall of the royal city, looking at the bright lights of thousands of homes, Mo Li felt an indescribable emotion welling up in his heart.
Just then, Mo Chen stepped forward and stopped beside him, smiling as he asked, "Are you slowly starting to like this city?"
Mo Li smiled and nodded. "Yes, there's just not enough room here."
Mo Chen raised his hand, pointed to the neat rows of red lanterns, and said, "These lanterns will stay lit from dusk till dawn. Because of them, the royal city is known as the City That Never Sleeps. Also because of them, every household can leave their doors and windows open at night, so there's no need to worry about theft."
Mo Li's eyes lit up; he hadn't expected that the security of the royal city would change because of this.
"This was Xiao Kun's idea, didn't expect that, did you?" Mo Chen chuckled and said.
Mo Li was slightly taken aback. "This guy is truly brave and resourceful."
Mo Chen nodded, but narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at the bustling royal city. "However, there are still some people who haven't realized his intentions and instead believe that the lamp oil is just a heretical offering to the gods..."
"Wouldn't General Wang be very tired?"
“He’s naturally tired…” Just then, Mo Han, who had sobered up, stepped forward and looked at Mo Li with a solemn expression, saying, “But from now on, the one who will be even more tired is you, the Punisher.”
"Me?" Mo Li blinked, somewhat puzzled.
“From the moment you received this mission and came to this world, everything alive in this world is subject to your punishment. Your every word and deed can change this era, and even become part of its history!” Mo Han said with a serious expression.
Mo Li stared at him in astonishment.
“Wang Qiankun changed a city by himself, but you need to change the world by yourself! You must do it!” Mo Han said.
Mo Li swallowed hard; Mo Han's words immediately made him feel immense pressure.
"I've cured Wang Qiankun of the poison. According to the established pattern, we can no longer interfere with Wang Qiankun's fate," Mo Han said seriously. "Especially Mo Chen, you'd better not make the same mistake again, otherwise..."
Mo Han stared coldly at Mo Chen, who offered no rebuttal, only lowering his head in silence.
Mo Li looked at the two of them with suspicion, feeling that they were hiding some secret from her, and that secret was precisely related to Mo Chen...
The next morning
Hua Mulan packed her things early in the morning and knocked on Mo Li's door.
"Mulan?" Mo Li looked at Hua Mulan with a puzzled expression, a bad feeling creeping into his heart. "You, what are you doing..."
"Uh... I'm planning to go back, so I came here specifically to tell you," Mulan said.
Mo Li grew anxious. "It would be dangerous for you to go back alone. Why don't I..."
Hua Mulan shook her head. "You haven't explained yourself properly since you left last time. I'm worried you'll be criticized if you go back like this, especially since this time it's because of Cheng Jin..."
At this point, Mulan's voice lowered. Mo Li knew that Jin'erjia's betrayal had dealt a heavy blow to Mulan. Even if there were no serious consequences, he knew that Mulan truly cared for Jin'erjia.
Mo Li nodded. "In that case, I won't stop you. If anything happens, remember to send us a message by carrier pigeon."
Seeing that Mo Li understood her, Hua Mulan smiled and nodded, "Don't worry, I won't be stubborn."
Watching Mulan's departing figure, Mo Li was still somewhat worried.
"If you can't let go, then go after them! Nobody said you can't secretly follow them." Mo Chen's voice suddenly came from the tree.
"What are you doing spying on me for?!" Mo Li glared at Mo Chen and said.
"Who was spying on you? I just fell asleep while admiring the moon after you all went back last night!" Mo Chen rolled his eyes and explained.
Mo Li didn't care about Mo Chen's thoughts on appreciating the moon; she only knew that he was right, and no one was stopping her from pursuing Hua Mulan!
Mo Chen watched Mo Li run out of the tent and couldn't help but smile, "She really is a devoted fox, quite different from someone else."
"I wonder who you're referring to as 'someone'?" A sudden voice rang out from under the tree, and besides Mo Han, there was someone else who appeared silently.
Mo Chen was so startled that he staggered and fell straight off the tree. "Oh my god!"
Mo Chen looked down at Mo Chen lying on the ground and said, "Little Wild Abandoner had better watch his words and actions, or he won't even know how he died."
Mo Chen rolled his eyes, patted his butt and stood up. "You're talking about others, but you're the one without a companion!"
"you--"
"Alright, alright, I'm not going to argue with you anymore. Since you're here, I'll continue investigating that fairy. I heard she was dancing at a brothel today. Want to go check it out?" Mo Chen said with a mischievous grin.
Mo Han narrowed his eyes slightly...
A few minutes later, Mo Chen and Mo Li appeared at the brothel.
"I thought you were a gentleman who wouldn't come! Turns out you're just a womanizer!" Mo Chen said with a look of disdain.
"No one will think you're mute if you don't speak." After saying that, Mo Han coldly looked at the flamboyant and glamorous women around him.
"Hey, hey, hey, when you're out flirting with girls, don't give them that scary look!" Mo Chen was speechless. Even though they were dashing, elegant, and dressed in the most noble clothes, no girl dared to approach them!
Ultimately, it all comes down to this guy's cold gaze!
"These courtesans are all greedy and lustful. I really don't know how you and those men could like them!" Mo Han's eyes flashed with a sharp light as he couldn't help but sneer.
Mo Chen scratched his head helplessly, almost forgetting that Mo Han and Mo Li were from the same school, so they would naturally be able to observe people's hearts and deduce fate.
