Only Gu Yixian's voice echoed in the cave, along with the faint light from the oil lamp in her hand.
Gu Yixian used an oil lamp to light her way, her face growing paler as she looked at the bloodstains on the ground. Gu Liyan was no longer waiting for her; now that he was blind and injured, she had no idea where he had gone…
Suddenly, Gu Yixian remembered that the vines at the door hadn't moved. The only possibility was that Gu Liyan had gone deeper into the cave, so she immediately decided to search there.
Following the trail of blood in the cave, Gu Yixian heard the sound of flowing water at the end. Realizing that Gu Liyan might have taken this path to find water, she quickened her pace.
The cave's depths led to a more open and spacious area. Gu Yixian, holding an oil lamp, cautiously made her way forward, calling out, "Gu Liyan, where are you? It's me, Gu Yixian!"
Gu Yixian's voice echoed through the cave, but no one responded. Anxious, Gu Yixian called out again, "Gu Liyan! You're there..."
Before she could finish speaking, she suddenly saw a white figure lying on the ground not far away. Gu Yixian's heart leaped with joy, and she rushed forward, "Gu Liyan, are you alright...?"
She came to Gu Liyan's side, helped him up and held him in her arms. The oil lamp shone on his handsome and fair face, but his eyes were closed and there was blood at the corner of his mouth. What shocked Gu Yixian even more was that he had a pair of fox ears and many tails. Upon closer inspection, she found that he had nine tails!
Startled, Gu Yixian hastily retreated, accidentally throwing Gu Liyan to the ground. "Ahhhhh—a monster—!"
"Uh..." Gu Liyan groaned, instantly waking up. Looking at the dim light before him, his teeth chattered. "Is it...is it you...Gu...Gu Yi...Xian..."
Gu Yixian was stunned, looking at Gu Liyan with astonishment and exclaiming, "You, you are... Gu Liyan?!"
Gu Liyan nodded and struggled to his feet. Just as he was about to walk towards Gu Yixian, Gu Yixian suddenly exclaimed, "No, don't come any closer!"
Gu Liyan was taken aback and looked in her direction with a puzzled expression.
"You, you are a monster...you, don't come any closer!" Gu Yixian was so frightened that her face turned pale and her whole body trembled.
Gu Liyan was startled and subconsciously twitched his ears. The different feeling made him realize that he had actually returned to his original appearance!
Gu Liyan immediately understood why Gu Yixian was avoiding him, and hurriedly began to explain:
"Gu Yixian, you, you don't need to be afraid, let me explain..."
"Don't come any closer! You monster!" Gu Yixian was so frightened that she kicked over the oil lamp, plunging the cave into darkness. At that moment, Gu Yixian screamed, "Ahhh—!"
Gu Liyan hurriedly said, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid! I, I'm a good demon, I won't hurt you! Please believe me!"
Hearing Gu Liyan's words, Gu Yixian stopped shouting. In the pitch-black cave, only their breathing could be heard. Her voice gradually softened, but Gu Liyan's voice became more and more rapid.
Gu Yixian was so frightened that her legs went weak and she knelt down. Gu Liyan couldn't see her, but he could hear the terrified movements she made.
Before Gu Yixian could speak, Gu Liyan sighed and said, "Don't worry, I... I'll leave right away."
With that, he turned around and walked away with his back to Gu Yixian.
"Hey, wait a minute..." Gu Yixian was about to stop Gu Liyan when she heard a "plop"...
"There's a pool ahead—" Gu Yixian finally finished speaking. At that moment, Gu Liyan plunged straight into the pool, instantly becoming soaking wet!
The icy water made Gu Liyan shiver. He suddenly stood up from the pool, which was up to his belly. His nine tails drooped on the surface like deflated balloons, and his wet ears also drooped, making him look extremely cute!
Seeing Gu Liyan's handsome face, yet revealing a helpless yet adorable expression, Gu Yixian couldn't help but point at Gu Liyan with one finger and burst into laughter while clutching her stomach with the other:
"Ha ha ha ha……"
Gu Liyan turned his head to look in Gu Yixian's direction, but he couldn't see anything, so he could only give a helpless bitter smile.
Gu Yixian suppressed a laugh, and her heart softened when she saw Gu Liyan's pitiful face. She stood up and slowly approached Gu Liyan, extending her hand. "Hurry up and get on, the water down there must be very cold, right?"
Gu Liyan looked in the direction of Gu Yixian's voice with a puzzled expression. "You...you're not afraid of me anymore?"
Gu Yixian pursed her lips and smiled, "This is the first time I've met such a foolish fox demon. A foolish fox, do you think I, Gu Yixian, would be afraid?"
Gu Liyan couldn't help but smile wryly as he walked towards Gu Yixian. Seeing Gu Liyan getting further and further away from the shore, Gu Yixian's face darkened. Without thinking, she jumped into the pool as well, and the icy water made her shiver violently.
Hearing the sound, Gu Liyan asked with concern, "You, did you fall? Let me help you!"
As he spoke, he headed towards Gu Yixian, while Gu Yixian walked towards Gu Liyan, saying, "No need, I'll go over there..."
Before Gu Yixian could finish speaking, the two collided head-on. Gu Yixian immediately tumbled towards the icy water. Gu Liyan seemed to realize something, turned around, and caught Gu Yixian's chest with both hands...
Thump—
Gu Liyan fell into the pool again, used his tail to pull himself up, and hurriedly asked, "Gu Yixian, are you alright?"
Gu Yixian looked down at the two hands touching her chest and suddenly screamed, "Aaaaaah—you pervert—!"
