Gu Liyan sensed the resentment emanating from Lei Dong directed at her. She quickly circulated her internal energy to heal herself for a few cycles, regaining some of her offensive power before getting up.
He looked up at the setting sun, approached Lei Dong, removed the icicle from his lips, and asked gently:
"Hey, do you know why your master keeps trying to kill me?"
"Hmph!" Lei Dong rolled his eyes and didn't bother to explain the question Gu Liyan had raised.
Seeing that Lei Dong did not answer, Gu Liyan was not angry, but patiently continued to ask:
"So, are all three of you wandering souls from the Netherworld?"
Upon hearing this, Lei Dong rolled his eyes again and completely ignored Gu Liyan.
Seeing this, Gu Liyan couldn't help but smile bitterly, realizing that he wouldn't be able to get anything out of her.
Immediately, a jade flute appeared in his hand, and he used it to cut through the ice shards binding Lei Dong, the shattered ice crystals dazzling.
Gu Liyan simply waved his hand and said, "You can leave now!"
Upon hearing Gu Liyan's words, Lei Dong stared at her in disbelief. "You, what did you say?"
Is there something wrong with his ears, or did Gu Liyan say something wrong?
“I said you can leave now,” Gu Liyan said again.
"Why did you let me go? Aren't you afraid I'll go back and tell my master where you are? And, didn't you capture me just to get revenge on me?" Lei Dong stared blankly at Gu Liyan. He and Lei Li had clearly beaten him before, so why didn't he retaliate?
What is this fox demon thinking? Why isn't she playing by the rules?!
Gu Liyan blinked and smiled, "I've already cut off your left ear as revenge. As for worrying that you'll go back and tell on me... I really didn't think of that just now..."
Lei Dong was speechless: Damn it, can you be any more casual?
Seeing Lei Dong's expression, Gu Liyan shrugged and still smiled as he said, "But since I said I'd let you go, I can't go back on my word. You can leave now!"
With that, Gu Liyan turned and left.
Watching Gu Liyan walk away without looking back, Lei Dong stood there blankly, "What, what's going on?"
Lei Dong scratched his head and decided to go back first.
Gu Liyan, who hadn't gone far, secretly peeked back at Lei Dong's back and silently followed him.
Lei Li continued deeper into the forest and soon encountered Lei Dong, who was covering his ears as he emerged. He thought he was seeing things, but after rubbing his eyes and looking closely, he realized it really was Lei Dong!
"Lei Li, what are you standing there for? Come and help me up!" Lei Dong said wearily.
"Huh? Oh!" Lei Li walked over and helped Lei Dong up, asking with a curious look, "Weren't you captured by that fox demon? How did you escape?"
"Don't even mention it, I don't know what happened either, let's go back and talk about it later!" Lei Dong said with a frown.
The two walked towards the edge of the forest, unaware that a small white fox was following them.
Just as the three of them left, the masked man and Little Tiger arrived in the forest.
"Let's do it here. I'll set up the formation, and you keep an eye on things. Let me know in advance if anything happens!" Xiao Hu said, hands on his hips, looking at the open plain.
"Alright, set up the formation." The masked man took a few steps back and hid to the side.
Little Tiger sat cross-legged and closed his eyes. Suddenly, he could see a huge thing growing out of his back at a speed visible to the naked eye. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a giant peach tree!
In the blink of an eye, the peach trees burst into bloom, and countless peach blossoms fell with the wind, drifting and scattering into the depths of the forest, landing in every corner of this woodland—
A petal drifted into the dark, cold cave, devoid of any sign of life. Just as the petal was about to leave, a massive ice coffin caught its attention:
Inside the human-shaped ice coffin lay a beautiful woman, her eyes closed as if she were asleep. However, her face stirred up long-buried memories in "Little Tiger's" heart!
"She, she is..." Looking at the woman sleeping in the ice coffin, Xiao Hu became dazed. Suddenly, the petals scattered, and the peach tree that had been conjured collapsed...
The masked man's heart tightened when he saw the peach tree suddenly collapse. He rushed to Xiao Hu's side and asked, "Ah Tao, what happened?"
Xiao Hu suddenly opened his eyes, a pink light flashing in them. "It's her? How could it be her? How did she get here?"
"Ah Tao, what exactly happened?" the masked man asked, frowning. "Have you found that fox demon?"
Atao squinted at the masked man and coldly said, "Aye, I'm sorry, I can't help you with this! I have something to confirm now, you should go back first!"
After saying that, Xiao Hu walked towards the cave.
Watching Xiao Hu leave, the masked man frowned, wondering what had happened to him.
Meanwhile, Lei Dong and Lei Li had already returned to the pavilion.
Seeing that the masked man was not there, Lei Li first bandaged Lei Dong's wounds, while Gu Liyan hid by the window waiting for the masked man to return.
However, just then, a familiar voice suddenly came from the second floor of the pavilion:
"Now that you're here, why are you sneaking around and refusing to come out?"
Upon hearing this voice, Gu Liyan trembled.
Upon hearing this man's words, Lei Dong and Lei Li immediately stopped what they were doing, knelt down on the ground, and said in unison, "Greetings, Grand Strategist! We were unaware that you were here and have failed to greet you properly!"
Da da da—
The footsteps grew closer, and a handsome young man dressed in white with flowing silver hair gracefully descended from the second-floor pavilion.
