The rich scent of ink, from Bai Chen's study, continued to spread as he ground ink and added fragrance.
With black ink on white paper, the scent of ink lingering on the entire page, Bai Chen finally stopped writing. Looking at the contents of the letter, he frowned slightly, then turned and handed it to his personal servant.
"Ayan, set off immediately and make sure to deliver this letter to Aunt Xue of Qingge Hall in the Imperial City," Bai Chen said solemnly.
The servant paused for a moment, then hurriedly took the letter, nodded, and said, "Yes, young master."
Bai Chen sat blankly at the table. "Was what I did right or wrong...? I never imagined that the final outcome of this gamble of fate would fall into Gu Liyan's hands. Everything depends on tomorrow's results..."
Nightfall
The Wen family members who were stationed at the various exits of Qingge Hall spent the whole night keeping watch, but apart from Bai Chen's personal servant, they did not find anyone else leaving, let alone Gu Liyan, whom they had specifically instructed to keep an eye on.
Upon hearing this news, Wenhao frowned and looked at his personal bodyguard Wenren, asking, "Are you sure that apart from Ayan, who's with Bai Chen, no one else has gone out?"
“That’s right. Our spies in Qingge Hall also reported that Bai Chen only gave his room to that young master Gu so that he could conserve his energy and prepare to defeat you tomorrow.” Wen Ren said with his head down and an indifferent expression.
Upon hearing Wenren's words, Wenhao immediately sneered with displeasure, "Hmph! That overconfident fellow has no spiritual power at all yet he dares to challenge me? Why should I bother with him?!"
Wenhao coldly replied, "If I weren't afraid he would run away under the cover of darkness, I wouldn't have paid any attention to him at all."
“But young master, the master is still unaware of the incident involving disrupting the event because he is in seclusion. Moreover… the date for that event is approaching. I think it would be better for you to be more cautious, young master,” Wenren hurriedly reminded him.
"I know what's important, I don't need you to remind me!" Wenhao narrowed his eyes and gave Wenren a cold look. "You just need to do your job well!"
Upon seeing this, Wenren's expression darkened, and he remained silent.
Wenhao glared at Wenren and said, "Go down and call Awei in."
Wenren nodded and left.
As he stepped outside, the guard captain, Awei, was standing at the door. Seeing Wen Ren's dejected appearance, Awei walked over with a smug look on his face. "Oh, Second Young Master Wen, were you bullied by the eldest son of the Wen family again?"
Wenren glanced at Awei but said nothing.
Seeing that Wenren didn't speak, Awei became even more arrogant. "That makes sense. You're only good at handling intelligence, but in terms of strength, you're worlds apart from the young master!"
Wenren raised his eyes and gave Awei a cold look. "Young Master is waiting for you. Don't keep him waiting."
After saying that, Wen Ren turned and left without looking back. Just then, he heard Awei's mocking voice behind him: "Pah! You still think you're some young master? The Wen family has always only had one young master! You lost the inheritance competition, so you'll be a slave to the Wen family forever!"
Wen Ren's gaze was cold, his fists clenched, but he held back and left without saying a word.
Ah Wei scoffed and spat at his retreating figure...
——
The morning sunlight streamed into the room, and birdsong drifted in from outside the window.
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Gu Liyan turned over, frowned slightly, but didn't wake up; instead, she continued to sleep...
Bai Chen and the others at the door heard a slight noise, but then there was no more sound. He immediately raised his hand and knocked on the door again, asking, "Xiao Li, are you in the room?"
Mo Chen woke up in the contract space and heard Bai Chen's words outside the door. He then transmitted his voice to Gu Liyan, "Hey! You stinky fox, wake up! That guy has come knocking on our door! Get up now!"
Gu Liyan squinted, whether awake or still half asleep, and complained, "Ugh, so annoying, stop bothering me!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Gu Liyan waved his hand, and a powerful gust of wind swept towards Bai Chen outside the door.
Sensing the powerful aura of the strong wind, Bai Chen outside the door immediately dodged to the side, only to see that wherever the strong wind passed, the earth crumbled and the place was in ruins.
Bai Chen walked to the door and stared in astonishment at the mess on the floor, a cold sweat breaking out on his back.
With a mere gesture, they managed to break down the room door and damage most of the walls, which was truly astonishing.
"This..." Bai Chen looked at Gu Liyan in astonishment. This power was comparable to the fourth level of the Astounding Swan!
Bai Chen stood there dumbfounded. Just how powerful was Gu Liyan's talent? He had actually reached such a level of cultivation overnight! It was truly astonishing!
However, while Bai Chen was in shock, he observed the spiritual energy in Gu Liyan's room. The density of the energy was only the same as when he first guided spiritual energy to help Gu Liyan open the first stage of spiritual energy. This was somewhat consistent with the amount of time he had spent cultivating at this moment.
"Gu Liyan... he's clearly only at the first level of the Astounding Cloud Realm, yet he possesses the abilities of the fourth level." Bai Chen stared in shock at Gu Liyan lying on the bed, lost in thought. "He's truly a monster..."
Bai Chen turned his head away and stood at the door, a sudden tension rising in his heart. "If Gu Liyan really has such talent, then I..."
"Huh? Brother Bai, you're here? Is it already dawn?" Bai Chen, whose mind was in turmoil, suddenly heard Gu Liyan's lazy voice.
She snapped out of her daze, nodded at Gu Liyan who had already sat up, and said, "Ah...yes, it's almost time for the duel, so I came to see you."
Gu Liyan looked at the mess at the door with a surprised expression, and said apologetically, "This, did I do this? I'm so sorry..."
Bai Chen paused for a moment, then smiled wryly. "Yes, Xiao Li, you didn't control the force of your roll just now, but it's okay, it's nothing serious."
