Tick-tock—
A tear inexplicably slid down Hua Xiaoxiao's face and landed crisply on the floor.
Zi Xin looked at Hua Xiaoxiao and burst into tears, and Justice 5 was stunned. Mo Shang was even more confused.
Hua Xiaoxiao finally understood why Gu Liyan would protect that peach tree.

Gu Liyan returned to his woodshed, the drunkenness in his eyes vanished, replaced only by melancholy.
After standing there in a daze for an unknown amount of time, the fat man rushed in with a panicked expression. He closed the door, panting heavily, and stared at the doorway in terror. When he saw that the people chasing him had not followed, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Gu Liyan stared at the fat man in confusion. "What are you doing?"
"Shh—" The fat man tensed up, his large, fat head involuntarily glancing out the window. Seeing that everything was alright, he breathed a sigh of relief and whispered, "Sir, keep your voice down, don't get me in trouble!"
Gu Liyan looked at him in confusion, feeling bewildered. "Have you been infected by the killer and are you being hunted down too?"
The fat man looked embarrassed: You were right!
"Do you want me to help you with this?"
As he spoke, Gu Liyan stood up and stretched his limbs: he wanted to fight!
The fat man was startled and quickly grabbed him, saying, "No need, no need, it's nothing serious!"
Gu Liyan was even more puzzled: Being chased and killed wasn't a big deal? Then what would be a big deal?
The fat man realized that his words were contradictory and had aroused Gu Liyan's suspicion, so he said awkwardly, "Well, you should get some rest."
After saying that, the fat man lay down on the bed and pretended to sleep.
Gu Liyan was completely baffled: "Is he being chased by a woman? Something seems so wrong."
Gu Liyan figured this fat man was unusual all along, so she didn't pry into his private affairs, figuring she'd find out sooner or later anyway.
The fat man was in no mood to sleep. He tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. He was a little excited, but he didn't know whether he should be excited or not. The main problem was that "Young Master Murong," and he really didn't know how to face him!
The chubby man, preoccupied with his thoughts, had fallen asleep sometime during the night, and, oblivious to everything else, he even started snoring.
Gu Liyan shook her head helplessly. She really didn't know what was wrong with this fat man. Gu Liyan felt that for the sake of the mission, it would be better to find out what was going on in the fat man's mind.
They did not interact again that night, and Gu Liyan fell into a deep sleep.
The light outside the window wasn't sunlight; it was neon lights that had been on all night, and even now, in broad daylight, they showed no sign of going out.
When Gu Liyan woke up and opened her eyes, she saw the neon lights still flashing and then she recalled the memory of the city being locked down.
"If this goes on for too long, I'm afraid we'll really lose our sleep schedule!" Gu Liyan stood up and stretched, only to realize that the fat man was no longer in the room.
Before he could even ask the fat man what had happened, the guy had vanished. Was he trying to run away?
Gu Liyan didn't think much of it and went straight out the door to find Fatty Duxiu!
The streets were bustling as another day began, but it was obvious that there were far fewer stalls than yesterday, and the flow of people was not as dense.
Is it because it's too early? Or is it because it's dark and people have lost their sense of time?
Gu Liyan still had too many questions about Central City. Right now, he just wanted to find Fatty and get to the bottom of things.
Suddenly, Gu Liyan saw a figure from behind. The woman looked very much like someone he knew, like... Mu Qing!
Yes, it's her!
Mu Qing, whom he had taken in as his adopted sister!
Gu Liyan was a little excited. It had been a long time since they last met, so seeing her here was like meeting an old friend in a foreign land!
Gu Liyan walked towards that familiar figure.
Dressed in red, Mu Qing stood in the middle of the road with her back to Gu Liyan, looking around.
As they drew closer, Gu Liyan smiled and patted her shoulder. "Long time no see!"
Murong Xiaoxiao was startled by Gu Liyan's sudden pat. She turned to look at him, wanting to curse, but when she saw Gu Liyan dressed in white and wearing a mask, she froze...
Murong Xiaoxiao slowly lowered her head, and saw that she was holding a compass in her hand. For some reason, the compass suddenly started spinning and then stopped behind her, pointing at Gu Liyan behind her!
Murong Xiaoxiao's eyes lit up instantly, and she suddenly revealed a fierce look, pointing at Gu Liyan and shouting, "Fox demon! Don't run away!"
Gu Liyan was startled by her angry shout: Girl, you're funny. Don't you know you're a fox too?
Gu Liyan didn't run away, because the Murong Xiaoxiao in front of him was Mu Qing, and their appearances were exactly the same. So he didn't need to leave and obediently stood in place, blinking his eyes and looking at her.
Seeing that Gu Liyan hadn't run away, Murong Xiaoxiao was at a loss. Pointing at Gu Liyan, she stammered, "You, why aren't you running away?"
She had been learning to catch demons for a while. Every time her master told her how to chase after a demon, he taught her all sorts of strange and wonderful methods. But when she actually found a demon, she never expected that the demon in front of her would be so obedient and not move at all!
Gu Liyan was amused by her question, "Didn't you say you wouldn't let me leave?"
