Chapter 34 Dawn Breaks

Su Prefecture, Jizhou

Since returning to the Su residence, Su Xian'er has been unusually cold all over and has fallen into a deep sleep. She has been lying in bed for three days and cannot be woken up. Countless doctors have come to treat her, but none of them have been able to do anything.

Having exhausted all other options, Su Hu could only contact Tianmen again for help. This time, it wasn't the Heavenly Venerable himself who came, but rather his eldest disciple, Jiang Shang. From Jiang Shang, Su Hu learned of the Heavenly Venerable's death, and immediately developed a prejudice against Gu Liyan, speaking with a furious expression:

"I never imagined that this demon race would be so ruthless, even cruelly killing its own kind! I had previously considered him my benefactor who saved my daughter and spared his life because of the Heavenly Venerable..."

Jiang Shang raised an eyebrow and said calmly, "Please rest assured, Marquis Su, that demon has been eliminated by my master. In addition, according to my guess, Miss Su may have been afflicted by demonic energy because she spent too much time near that fox demon."

Upon hearing Jiang Shang's words, Su Hu's expression changed drastically, and he hurriedly pleaded, "Grand Tutor Jiang, you must save my daughter!"

"Of course!" Jiang Shang looked at the sleeping Su Xian'er and a slight smile appeared on his lips...

——

Su Xian'er was immersed in her dream. She dreamed that she had grown up and was wearing a pink dress, nestled in the arms of a boy in white.

Before them lay an ice city, the ice city created by the white-clad youth with a wave of his hand—beautiful and proud, yet so real.

Unfortunately, Su Xian'er couldn't see the white-robed youth's face clearly; all she could feel was his gentle smile...

Over time, she found herself falling in love with this strong, handsome, gentle, and considerate young man in white. She wished the story would never end, and that she would never be separated from him.

But one day, an unnamed powerful figure arrived in this world. His appearance directly destroyed this ice city, ruthlessly shattering all its beauty.

When she came to her senses, the ice city shattered, and the white-clad boy beside her had vanished without a trace.

She wandered aimlessly through the devastated ice city, but could no longer find the white-clad boy; it was as if he had never existed in this world.

A desolate, empty city, leaving her all alone, where she struggles, unable to escape her dream—

"Where are you?" Su Xian'er called out, but she didn't know what to call him. She could only wander helplessly through every corner of the deserted city.

Su Xian'er squatted weakly on the ground, her face full of grievance, and choked up, "Where did you go? Don't you want me anymore...?"

Just then, a person appeared in the dream. Su Xian'er looked at this person, who was a handsome young man dressed in dark cloth.

"Who, who are you?" In this world, the only person she knew was the man in white. The sudden appearance of this person made Su Xian'er somewhat flustered.

"I'm here to save you, wake up, Su Xian'er! Don't get lost in your dreams, there are people in reality who are worried about you." Jiang Shang's gentle smile made Su Xian'er feel as if she had met the white-clad youth again.

"What about him? What about the boy in white who was with me?" Su Xian'er asked anxiously. "Do you know where he is? Can you take me to him? I...I want to see him!"

Jiang Shang's expression turned cold, and he said, "That person is the one who tricked you into this dream. He wants to bewitch you and then kill your father. Don't stay in the dream he created, stubbornly clinging to your delusions!"

Su Xian'er trembled all over. "It's impossible... He wouldn't hurt me!"

With such a gentle smile and such considerate care, how could he possibly harm himself?

Su Xian'er looked bewildered and couldn't believe it.

“If you don’t believe me, you’ll know when you wake up,” Jiang Shang said.

Su Xian'er stared at him blankly, her gaze unfocused—

The first rays of dawn shone on Su Xian'er's face, dispelling the darkness of her dream and waking her up.

Su Xian'er slowly opened her eyes, and Su Hu walked forward with a joyful expression. "Xian'er, you little rascal, you're finally awake!"

Su Xian'er blinked and looked at Su Hu, then looked down at her own hands. She hadn't grown up, she wasn't wearing a pink dress, and the white-clad boy wasn't beside her.

As dawn breaks and dreams fade, the first rays of sunlight appear.

But was it really a dream? Why did it feel so real? Su Xian'er was still in a daze, stunned on the spot.

"Xian'er, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Su Hu asked worriedly when he saw Su Xian'er's blank expression.

“I think Miss has just woken up and hasn’t quite distinguished between dream and reality yet. Let’s give her some time to adjust,” Jiang Shang said as he stepped forward.

Upon seeing Jiang Shang, Su Xian'er suddenly snapped out of her daze, tilted her head back, and asked in her childish voice, "Where is he? Where is he? You know him, right?"

Jiang Shang looked at Su Xian'er with a solemn expression. "Do you still remember what happened on the snow mountain?"

Su Xian'er was taken aback, somewhat puzzled. "Snow Mountain? Have I ever been to a snow mountain? I only remember secretly getting Father drunk, and then..."

Su Xian'er's expression changed, her face turning deathly pale. She stammered in frustration, "I...I forgot! Strange, how could I forget...Father, sob sob, I forgot..."

Su Hu hugged Su Xian'er tightly with a look of heartache, saying, "It's alright, it's alright, you'll remember eventually."

Jiang Shang put his hands behind his back, breathed a sigh of relief, and said, "It's alright, it's better for you to forget that painful memory."

Su Xian'er raised her small face and looked at Jiang Shang again, asking, "Do you know him?"

Jiang Shang was stunned. Faced with Su Xian'er's clear gaze, he didn't know how to speak. Finally, he calmed himself down, shook his head, and said with a serious face, "That fox demon is no ordinary person. It is ruthless. You are still young. Do not be deceived by that demon."

Looking at Jiang Shang's expression, Su Xian'er immediately realized that he knew the white-robed youth. Seeing Su Hu's solemn expression, the clever girl nodded gently, "I understand. I will definitely not be bewitched by the monster."
