As the morning sunlight streamed through the window, Qingge opened her eyes and stretched, only to find her side empty. Looking down, she realized the cute yet timid fox from yesterday was gone.
"Strange, where did that little guy go?" Qingge wondered to herself, then looked up at the open window and paused for a moment. "Looks like he's already gone. He's just like a child, always hiding..."
Suddenly, Qingge had an idea and smiled. "I've got it! Rather than letting them fight to the death, it's better to use a peaceful method. A true sage would know how to protect himself."
Qingge smiled slightly and wrote three words on the paper: "Use this one!"
Seeing Qingge looking radiant, the white fox standing in the distant pavilion gazed at her intently, then turned and left after taking a deep look at that figure.
As for Qingyang's matter, Gu Liyan planned to explain it to Qingge when the time was right. If he said it now, he didn't know if it would cause internal strife in the Weilong Kingdom...
Gu Liyan returned to her room, and the other Gu Liyan sensed it. After they smiled at each other, the other Gu Liyan returned to Gu Liyan's body.
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Li Erniang outside called out loudly, "Gu Liyan, are you awake?"
Gu Liyan hurriedly lay down, muttering: "You're so loud, even those who don't want to wake up are awake!"
He then said, "You're awake, come in."
Li Erniang pushed open the door and walked in. Seeing that Gu Liyan was still lying down, she smiled and said, "Gu Liyan, shall I take you out for a walk?"
Gu Liyan said irritably, "I'm tired, I'm not going!"
"You've been lying down all day and you're still tired?" Li Erniang said irritably.
"I'm tired because I've been lying down all day!"
"Alright, come on, let's go, I'll take you out for some exercise!" Li Erniang said, preparing to push the wheelchair.
Gu Liyan waved his hand, "Go by yourself."
"Hey! Are you saying you don't want to be with me because you think I'm ugly?!"
“No…” Gu Liyan hesitated for a moment, “I’m afraid you’ll feel inferior.”
"You... Fine! Gu Liyan, our friendship is over!" Li Erniang said angrily. "Since that's the case, I don't need to tell you the topic of the second round of the Sage's Contest."
They were about to leave following Li Erniang.
Gu Liyan smiled wryly and called out to her, "Tell me, what's the second round?"
Li Erniang grinned wickedly, "If you tell me to say it and I just say it, wouldn't I lose face?"
"Whatever makes you happy, I'm going to take another nap." Gu Liyan said, and then went back to sleep.
Li Erniang said irritably, "I really can't do anything with you! Alright, wake up, I'm telling you, okay? The second competition is hide-and-seek!"
Gu Liyan was slightly taken aback, then couldn't help but chuckle. It turned out that Qingge had been inspired by him, which was why she came up with this competition method.
"Aren't you curious about the content of this competition?" Li Erniang asked, puzzled.
"Hehe, the Kingdom of Weilong is currently in dire need of manpower, so Qingqing is naturally thinking about how to ensure the smooth progress of the sages' competition and minimize casualties. However, don't underestimate this game that even children can play; there are many intricacies involved!" Gu Liyan analyzed with a smile.
"Anyway, I can't participate, so I don't care! By the way, Gu Liyan, it seems your senior brothers won't be able to make it back in time, so...?" Li Erniang secretly glanced at Gu Liyan, "...could you go in their place?"
Gu Liyan was taken aback, then smiled bitterly and said, "I'm not only blind now, but also bedridden. This game of hide-and-seek isn't suitable for me."
"So what are your plans to help your little lover?" Li Erniang asked irritably.
Gu Liyan coughed lightly and said, "Well, I might be able to get help from someone else."
Li Erniang suddenly narrowed her eyes and said slyly, "Since that's the case, what do you think of Li Jin? How about using him to help your little lover?"
Gu Liyan was slightly taken aback, and looked deeply at Li Erniang. "You seem to trust that Li Jin a lot?"
Li Erniang chuckled, "I've watched Li Jin grow up since he was a child. He's been exceptionally talented since childhood, excelling in both literature and martial arts. It's just that the Li family is too complicated, so I left early. This kid is also ambitious, and he actually managed to gain a foothold in the Li family... Gu Liyan, I really think he's the most suitable."
Gu Liyan frowned, shook his head slightly, and said, "Li Jin is indeed outstanding, but he won the championship last time because of his fame, and everyone knows him. If I were to ask him for help, it would be too obvious and simply not suitable!"
Hearing Gu Liyan's words, Li Erniang said somewhat angrily, "This won't work, that won't work either. Oh! I know, you're not afraid that Li Jin is too outstanding and will steal your thunder, and eventually have a chance to trick your little lover into your hands, are you?"
"What are you thinking? If I were worried about this, I wouldn't be here recuperating! I would have gone to Qingqing's side long ago, to be closer to her!" Gu Liyan glared at Li Erniang and said irritably.
Li Erniang glared at Gu Liyan and said, "Alright, alright, I won't force you anymore. Let Li Jin fend for himself! You just stay here and rest."
Just as Li Erniang was about to turn and leave, Gu Liyan called out to her, "Hey, aren't you going back to check on the rats?"
Li Erniang paused, "That child Haozi is too dependent on me. If I keep him by my side, I'm afraid he'll never grow up..."
“You’re right, but there’s something you must remember: it’s better to raise a child than to give birth to one,” Gu Liyan said.
Li Erniang was startled. She glanced at Gu Liyan, pursed her lips, said nothing, and hurriedly left.
Seeing Li Erniang leave, Gu Liyan narrowed his eyes slightly. "How could a proud woman like Li Erniang lower herself to beg me for the sake of Li Jin?"
