Looking at the altar being erected outside the main hall, Qingyang narrowed his eyes and coldly asked, "How much longer until it's completed?"
Yang Wei said respectfully, "Your Majesty, it will take about five more days."
"Too slow! Go out of the city immediately to recruit workers and make sure the job is completed in three days!" Qingyang said coldly.
"Yes!" Yang Wei nodded in agreement.
Li Jin, who was standing to the side, rolled his eyes and said, "Your Majesty, I think it would be better to send someone to monitor Princess Qingge. If she leaves, our plan will fall through."
Hearing Li Jin's words, Qingyang nodded. "Minister Li is right, but Qingge is a cautious person. I really don't know who would be more suitable to send. Does Minister Li have anyone to recommend?"
Li Jin smiled and said, "Your Majesty may not know this, but before I entered the palace, I had several encounters with Princess Qingge, including with Mo Han and Mo Chen."
Qingyang raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
"But Your Majesty, rest assured, I am not on the same path as them. On the contrary, we have had several conflicts..." Seeing Qingyang's suspicious gaze, Li Jin hurriedly explained.
Hearing Li Jin's words, Qingyang breathed a sigh of relief and said, "In that case, Minister Li, you shall keep an eye on Qingge for me!"
Li Jin's lips curled slightly upwards. "Yes!"
Looking at the altar that had been built, Qingyang said with a satisfied expression, "If this matter succeeds, I will give you a satisfactory position!"
Li Jin's face lit up with joy. "Thank you, Your Majesty!"
Li Jin stayed with Qingyang until the very end before leaving. Through a whole day of conversation, Qingyang trusted Li Jin more and more, and Li Jin wore a smug look on her face.
Upon returning to the Imperial Physician's Office, he saw Li Erniang pacing back and forth at the entrance. His expression immediately changed, and he walked up to her with a gentle demeanor, calling out, "Erniang."
Upon hearing Li Jin's voice, Li Erniang stepped forward with a smile, "Jin'er, you're back."
Li Jin nodded and asked with some confusion, "Second Aunt, why are you here so late?"
"It's all because of that woman Qingge, she actually gave my room to Lan Ying!" Li Erniang said angrily. "If it weren't for Gu Liyan's sake, I would have slapped her!"
Li Jin's expression changed and she said, "Second Madam, don't worry about accommodation. You can stay at the Imperial Physician's Inn tonight."
Li Erniang nodded, "Then I'll trouble you."
The two entered the Imperial Physician's Office, and Li Erniang asked curiously, "Are you living here alone now?"
Li Jin nodded. "Yes, His Majesty has entrusted me with all matters concerning the Imperial Physician's Office."
Li Erniang patted Li Jin on the shoulder and said, "Work hard! Erniang has high hopes for you!"
Li Jin smiled and nodded, then suddenly remembered something and said, "Second Madam, I have some Red Dust Wine that the King bestowed upon me. Shall we have a drink together?"
Li Erniang's eyes lit up immediately. "Great!"
But the next second he waved his hand and said, "Never mind, I've already quit drinking."
Li Jin nodded. "In that case, I'll make you some tea."
As she spoke, Li Jin went to boil water. Looking at the empty imperial physician's office, Li Erniang realized something was wrong. "Jin'er, tell me, is it because that king is treating you badly?"
Li Jin was slightly taken aback, then smiled awkwardly, "How could that be? Second Aunt, you're overthinking it."
Li Erniang frowned. "I wasn't overthinking it! If he really appreciated you, why would such a large imperial physician's clinic only have you as the sole patient, instead of having several maids and guards?"
Li Jin stopped what she was doing and looked at Li Erniang, saying, "Erniang, the King and I both know that I lack prestige right now. If I am too flamboyant, I'm afraid I won't be able to gain a foothold in the palace."
Li Erniang then nodded in realization, "Oh, I see!"
Looking at Li Jin, Li Erniang said with some heartache, "It's really been hard on you. I thought that once you entered the palace, you could gain wealth and power with your own talents. I never expected that you would be drawn into an invisible vortex of power..."
“Second Mother, this is the path Jin’er chose herself, Second Mother, you don’t need to blame yourself.” Li Jin said, “Jin’er has always remembered Second Mother’s words, only by becoming a superior person can one have the right to decide one’s own destiny!”
Upon hearing Li Jin's words, Li Erniang was stunned. Looking at Li Jin's serious expression, she could hardly believe that the person in front of her was the innocent boy she had once raised!
A sudden flutter of emotion stirred within her, but she quickly concealed it. "Yes, I believe in you because of your abilities. Alright, you've been busy all day, so take a rest."
Li Jin glanced at the flustered Li Erniang, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. "Wait, Erniang. I heard today that General Cheng actually attempted to assassinate Princess Qingge. How about you take me to pay him a visit tomorrow?"
Li Erniang looked at Li Jin with some curiosity and asked, "Why are you going to see her?"
"After all, I am now the manager of the Imperial Medical Institute, so I should always be concerned about Princess Qingge's health."
Li Erniang nodded upon hearing this, "That's right, alright then, you can come with me tomorrow! I'll also take a look at Gu Liyan..."
Upon hearing the name Gu Liyan, Li Jin narrowed her eyes and asked, "Jin'er really doesn't understand why Second Mother is so concerned about that Gu Liyan. Could it be...?"
Li Jin smiled and asked, "Second Madam has developed feelings for Gu Liyan?"
Li Erniang glared at Li Jin and said irritably, "I don't like that sly fox at all! If it weren't for his connection with that person, I would have..."
At this point, Li Erniang stopped herself from continuing, saying, "Never mind, it's better that you don't know about him."
Li Jin nodded, not asking any further questions. However, she had obtained information—Gu Liyan was a fox?!
The next morning, beneath the walls of the palace...
