Chapter 402 Became a Drama Queen

The next morning

Gu Changyuan arrived at Gu Liyan's door early in the morning and knocked on it. "Xiao Li, are you awake? I'm coming in."

Gu Liyan opened her eyes groggily, still half asleep, looking drowsy from just before dawn last night.

The door was pushed open by Gu Changyuan, and the bright sunlight shone on his rosy face. He subconsciously shielded his eyes and asked, "Senior brother, what are you doing here so early?"

Seeing Gu Liyan's hair standing on end and his sleepy look, Gu Changyuan couldn't help but laugh and said with a slight upturn of his lips, "You little fox, you went to bed so early last night, why aren't you awake yet?"

Gu Liyan scratched his head: I had too many things on my mind to sleep, and then I overheard your late-night conversation, so I didn't sleep a wink all night! I finally managed to fall asleep, but then I was woken up... This is so hard!

Gu Liyan sighed, "It's already dawn..."

Gu Liyan: But this fox doesn't want to get out of bed at all!

Gu Changyuan smiled and nodded. "Yes, it's already dawn. How are you? Does your leg still hurt? How about... you wait until your leg is healed before going down the mountain?"

Gu Liyan immediately perked up. "No! My leg is fine now! Let's go down the mountain now!"

Seeing Gu Liyan's impatient look, Gu Changyuan couldn't help but smile and said, "Alright, but let's agree on three rules."

Before Gu Liyan could refuse, Gu Changyuan spoke up: "First, you must not interfere in the affairs of mortals. Second, you must not reveal any information about Thousand Absolute Mountain. Third, listen to your senior brother!"

"Alright, alright! Whatever you say, Senior Brother!" Gu Liyan nodded in agreement without hesitation. After tidying his appearance, he limped over to Gu Changyuan. "Senior Brother, please transform!"

Seeing Gu Liyan's adorable appearance, Gu Changyuan was both amused and exasperated. With a wave of his hand, Gu Liyan's fox tail and ears disappeared completely.

"Thank you, Senior Brother!" Gu Liyan said with a smile as he saw that he was no different from a mortal.

“You still have an injury on your leg. For your safety, I will take you down the mountain on horseback,” Gu Changyuan said, picking up Gu Liyan.

Gu Liyan blushed instantly as Gu Changyuan hugged her. "Senior brother, I'm all grown up now, I don't need you to carry me anymore!"

"How can that be? With your limping pace, who knows how long it will take you to climb the mountain?" Gu Changyuan said with a look of disgust.

Gu Liyan suddenly chuckled and said, "Hehe, to be honest, senior brother, did you bring me down the mountain because your old flame is down there?"

Gu Changyuan's expression changed slightly, a hint of red appearing on his face. He said with a forced smile, "If you don't want to go, we don't have to!"

After saying that, he prepared to put Gu Liyan down.

Gu Liyan hurriedly called out:

"Oh my god—"

...The two rode down the mountain and arrived at the town at the foot of the mountain around noon. The town was named "Qianjue Town" after Qianjue Mountain.

Although it's only about ten streets, it's unusually lively. The shouts of vendors are loudest at noon, with the most common being for freshly baked sesame cakes and steamed buns.

Gu Changyuan led the white horse, with Gu Liyan sitting on its back, as they walked along the narrow path.

Looking at the hawking sounds around him, Gu Liyan's eyes suddenly lit up, and his gaze fixed on a blind old woman with white hair at the entrance of the alley.

He remembered the last time he ate the blind old woman's steamed buns; it was many years ago. It wasn't that he didn't have the chance to go down the mountain to eat them, but rather that things had changed, and some things had gradually grown old and died, making it impossible to taste their former flavor again...

Gu Liyan watched the blind old woman busily working at her stall, took a deep breath to suppress her emotions, pointed to the blind old woman selling steamed buns at the alley entrance, and said to Gu Changyuan, "Senior brother, senior brother, I want to eat the blind old woman's steamed buns!"

Gu Changyuan looked at Gu Liyan with suspicion. "How do you know about the blind old woman's steamed buns? Did someone take you down the mountain to eat them before?"

Gu Liyan descended the mountain very few times. Each time, he was only taken out by Gu Changyuan or Gu Yan to meet the people at the foot of the mountain, and then they would go back.

Gu Changyuan didn't remember ever taking Gu Liyan to eat the blind old woman's buns. He only knew that the blind old woman had a tragic fate, but even so, he had never eaten the blind old woman's buns.

Because they don't need to eat human food at all!

Gu Liyan then realized what was happening and hurriedly said, "I... I heard it from Uncle-Master Gu Li..."

Gu Changyuan frowned, a hint of doubt in his eyes, but he didn't dwell on it and nodded indulgently, "Wait here, I'll go buy it for you right away!"

Gu Liyan nodded and obediently sat on the horse to wait for Gu Changyuan.

Gu Changyuan approached the blind old woman and said, "Grandma, give me a steamed bun."

The blind old woman smiled as she heard Gu Changyuan's voice and said, "Young man, I don't sell my buns individually. If you want to buy some, buy two and I can charge you for one bun."

Gu Changyuan looked at the blind old woman with a puzzled expression. "What's the special feature of your steamed buns? Why don't you sell them separately?"

The blind old woman smiled and said, "There are fox spirits in Thousand Absolutes Mountain. They bring blessings to our Thousand Absolutes Town and bestow good marriages upon each of us. I am one of them, so I sell my steamed buns in pairs!"

Gu Changyuan was slightly taken aback; he hadn't expected the blind old woman's steamed buns to have such a unique feature. Without a word, he took the buns, placed the money for both portions in the blind old woman's hand, and turned to leave.

Since the topic concerned Qianjue Mountain, he couldn't interrupt.

Returning to Gu Liyan, she handed him the steamed bun, saying, "Eat!"

Gu Liyan took a steamed bun and handed the other one to Gu Changyuan, saying, "Senior brother, you should also try the blind old woman's steamed buns, they're absolutely delicious!"

Gu Changyuan frowned, looking at Gu Liyan with some curiosity, "Did you already know that the blind old woman's buns were sold in pairs?"
