After escorting Gu Liyan back to his room, Yan Muxue frantically paced back and forth, looking at Gu Liyan lying on the bed, pale-faced and seemingly lifeless. "Gu Liyan, you silly fox, how could you suddenly faint? Please, please don't let anything happen to you..."
Taking Gu Liyan's hand, Yan Muxue's expression changed slightly upon touching it. "Why is it so cold? Did you really catch typhoid fever last night?"
Yan Muxue covered Gu Liyan with the blanket. Just then, the door was suddenly pushed open, and Gu Yan and Gu Li walked in from outside with gloomy faces and furrowed brows.
When Yan Muxue saw Gu Yan enter, she hurriedly got up and stepped aside, lowering her head and not daring to say anything. After all, in Gu Yan's eyes, she was just a dispensable slave!
Gu Yan glanced at Yan Muxue but didn't say anything. Instead, he focused his gaze on Gu Liyan, and Yan Muxue secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Gu Li went straight to Gu Liyan, glanced at the pale-faced Gu Liyan, examined his body, his expression changed slightly, and he turned to look at Gu Yan in surprise and said, "It really is a severed meridian!"
He glared at Gu Yan and accused, "I told you to be nicer to Xiao Li before, but you wouldn't listen! Now look what's happened, Xiao Li has a blocked meridian, let's see how you cry now!"
Upon hearing this, Yan Muxue asked Gu Yan in confusion, "What is 'absence of pulse'? Isn't Gu Liyan suffering from typhoid fever?"
“How could someone in this condition have typhoid fever? That’s a severed pulse…” Before Gu Li could finish speaking, Gu Yan glared at Yan Muxue and interrupted her impatiently:
"This is none of your business. Go outside and keep watch!"
Yan Muxue glanced at Gu Yan reluctantly, but was helpless against the imposing aura emanating from him, and could only obediently leave the room.
Gu Yan glared at Gu Li and said, "Why are you talking about this with an outsider?"
Gu Li rolled her eyes. "Didn't you see that this girl's marriage line is connected to Xiao Li's?"
"Hmph, a half-demon with no ability dares to dream of being included in the genealogy of my Thousand Absolute Mountain? What a pipe dream!" Gu Yan sneered.
"How can you be so materialistic now!" Gu Li pointed at Gu Yan and accused him, "Not only are you materialistic, you don't even act like a master! Look at Xiao Li, he's been with you since he was little, and apart from being covered in injuries, what have you taught him!"
"Who said I didn't teach him! For a warmonger like you who only knows how to fight and kill all day long, how could you possibly understand the field I taught him!" Gu Yan said irritably.
"Anyway, it's your fault for not taking good care of Xiao Li!" Gu Li plopped down in a chair, fuming with anger, and snorted coldly, refusing to look at Gu Yan again.
Gu Li's appearance shows that he is very angry. If he is made unhappy again, he will kill someone!
Seeing this, Gu Yan did not argue with him, but turned to look at Gu Liyan, whose small body was now covered in injuries.
Gu Yan couldn't help but recall how he had slapped Gu Liyan away, sending him crashing heavily into a tree... and how he had punished Gu Liyan by making him kneel in the ancestral hall all night, only to be dragged out by Yan Muxue. His heart felt like it was being torn apart.
Gu Yan sighed, looking guilty, and said, "I admit it's my fault as his master for not taking good care of Xiao Li. I shouldn't have been so strict and harsh with him..."
When Gu Li heard Gu Yan admit his mistake, his expression softened. He couldn't help but sigh, "A body with severed meridians! Its life force is cut off, and it is not recognized by the Heavenly Dao."
"However, it's worth noting that Xiao Li hasn't yet transformed into a human and condensed his demon core, so he won't suffer any backlash from the Heavenly Dao." Gu Yan sat down in front of Gu Li Yan, gently stroking his head, and said softly, "Let's keep this from Xiao Li for now. I was too harsh on him before, but now... I'll change!"
Gu Li looked at Gu Yan and saw a rare tenderness in his eyes. He smiled slightly and said nothing.
—Outside the door
Yan Muxue stood guard at the door, constantly peering inside. "How come the soundproofing is so good? What are they talking about?"
"Huh? What are you doing here?"
A "Huh?" sounded behind her, startling Yan Muxue. She turned around and saw Gu Changyuan standing behind her.
"You, I, I, I..." Yan Muxue was so frightened that she stammered and couldn't speak.
Gu Changyuan smiled, glanced at Gu Liyan's room, and asked, "Did Xiao Li take you up the mountain?"
"Yes!" Yan Muxue nodded.
"You were outside the door, were you kicked out?" Gu Changyuan asked with a smile.
“Yes, yes!” Yan Muxue nodded again.
Gu Changyuan was both amused and exasperated. He looked at Yan Muxue and said, "As long as you don't lie, don't betray, and treat others with courtesy in Qianjue Mountain, you won't be disliked by any of the people or animals there."
Yan Muxue was slightly taken aback, not understanding what the scope of "humans and animals" included in Gu Changyuan's words.
Gu Changyuan didn't say anything more, but pushed open Gu Liyan's door and went in. As soon as he entered the room, Gu Changyuan was stunned. He didn't expect Gu Yan and Gu Li to be there. He hurriedly bowed respectfully and said, "Greetings, Master and Uncle."
Seeing the two of them there, Gu Changyuan felt uneasy and lowered his head, not daring to look up. Their presence meant they must know about his trip down the mountain; if his work at the brothel were exposed, things would likely...
"It's good that you're back." Gu Yan nodded to Gu Changyuan.
Gu Changyuan was slightly taken aback. Gu Yan's voice was really different from before. He looked up and saw that Gu Yan's brows had relaxed, a departure from his usual dignified appearance, which surprised Gu Changyuan.
Gu Li sighed and said, "Chang Yuan, take good care of your junior brother these next few days, then you don't need to go down the mountain to train."
Gu Changyuan opened his mouth as if to say something, and Gu Yan also spoke up, "By the way, let that girl outside do any chores these days. If your junior brother wants to eat or use anything, just go and buy it for him."
Gu Changyuan looked at the two of them strangely, then noticed Gu Liyan's pale face on the bed, and suddenly realized. Only when Gu Liyan was sick would Gu Yan show a hint of gentleness. Out of concern for Gu Liyan, he asked, "Little Li... what's wrong?"
