Gu Liyan understood Mo Chen's meaning and smiled slightly, "It has nothing to do with showing off. As a member of the demon race, if I cannot gain the trust of my fellow demons, then I have no place in this world. Moreover... as a member of the fox demon race, trust and dignity are more important than life itself!"
Gu Yan, who was walking ahead, paused upon hearing Gu Liyan's words. A strange light flashed in his eyes, and he turned to look at Gu Liyan, his gaze returning to its cold indifference. "What are you dawdling for! Hurry up and catch up!"
Gu Liyan said to Mo Chen and Mo Bai, "Don't worry, nothing will happen. Wait for me, I'll be right back!"
After saying that, without giving Mo Chen and Mo Bai a chance to save themselves, they hurriedly caught up with Gu Yan.
Watching the two of them enter the mountain, Mo Bai had a strange, bad feeling—
There was no wind in the forest, but the temperature was getting lower and lower. Gu Liyan, who was already soaked and cold, was now so cold that his teeth started to chatter and his steps gradually became slow and stiff.
Gu Yan walked ahead silently, his steps quick. Hearing Gu Liyan's footsteps growing fainter, he turned around and saw that Gu Liyan had already left him far behind.
Gu Yan frowned and said irritably, "Are you trying to kill me?! Can't you hurry up?!"
Upon hearing Gu Yan's words, Gu Liyan subconsciously quickened her pace, but her body couldn't keep up with her brain's commands. She stumbled and almost fell, but luckily she managed to grab onto a nearby tree.
Gu Yan felt a pang of anxiety when she saw Gu Liyan almost fall, and cursed inwardly, "This guy must have used some kind of seductive magic on me again! He makes me uneasy whenever I see him!"
Gu Yan gave Gu Liyan a chance to catch his breath while leaning against the tree. In just a few seconds, Gu Liyan slowly stood up and walked towards him.
Seeing Gu Liyan's heavy steps, dry and cracked lips with visible blood vessels, Gu Yan frowned and sneered, "How come you're already unable to walk after only an hour?"
Gu Liyan pursed his lips, which ached, and said in a hoarse, weak voice, "I'm fine, I can do it!"
Upon hearing Gu Liyan's voice, Gu Yan felt as if that hoarse and grating voice was a thorn that had pierced deep into his heart!
"Do you think I'd pity you? It's best if you die here!" Gu Yan sneered, then turned and continued walking deeper into the forest.
Hearing Gu Yan's heartless words, Gu Liyan felt extremely depressed. Just as he was about to follow, he suddenly felt a burning sensation in his nose and a stream of blood flowed out.
Gu Liyan was taken aback, then quickly wiped her eyes with her sleeve. Seeing that Gu Yan wasn't paying attention to her, she followed him nonchalantly.
