"Uh..." Gu Liyan groaned, seemingly aggravating a wound on one of his bodies.
"Don't move!" Gu Yan saw Gu Liyan's pained expression from a distance, and rushed to Gu Liyan's side, picked him up and laid him flat on his lap.
Gu Liyan was at a loss for words because of Gu Yan's behavior. "Military, strategist, you..."
Gu Yan didn't speak immediately, but instead reached out and touched Gu Liyan's head, looking puzzled. "Strange, his body temperature has gone down, so why is he still sweating?"
Gu Liyan broke out in a cold sweat. Was this still the same Gu Yan, the strategist he knew who wanted to kill him?
Gu Liyan lay on Gu Yan's lap, his body stiff and unable to move, his emotions churning and he didn't know how to speak.
Because Gu Yan did something that Gu Liyan couldn't believe: he gently wiped the sweat from Gu Liyan's forehead with his sleeve and asked with concern, "Are you feeling any better? Does the wound still hurt?"
Gu Liyan was terrified by Gu Yan's words, wondering if this was the first step in Gu Yan's plan to torture her? First, polite treatment, then harsher punishment, followed by further treatment, and so on...
Gu Liyan was so frightened that she trembled all over, not daring to look at Gu Yan or answer his question.
"What's wrong? Where does it hurt? Tell me, I..."
As Gu Yan spoke, she reached out to touch Gu Liyan's hand, but Gu Liyan suddenly cried out in fear, "Don't hit me! Please don't hit me! I'll tell you everything! Don't hit me!"
Gu Yan stared at the terrified Gu Liyan, his hand frozen in mid-air. He hadn't expected Gu Liyan to be so afraid of him.
"Are you that afraid of me?" Gu Yan asked, frowning.
Gu Liyan caught a glimpse of Gu Yan's furrowed brows out of the corner of her eye, and was so frightened that she sat up and retreated several meters, her chest heaving as she gasped for breath, "No, don't hit me, please don't hit me..."
Seeing Gu Liyan's flustered appearance, Gu Yan couldn't bear it and said, "I won't hurt you. I believe in you, and you believe in me too, okay?"
"You, you believe me?" Gu Liyan looked up at Gu Yan with a wronged expression, her eyes glistening with tears.
Seeing Gu Liyan's eyes filled with tears, Gu Yan nodded without hesitation, "I believe you, and I will never doubt you again!"
Gu Liyan's tears fell to the ground, but a smile appeared on her face. "Thank you..."
Gu Yan sighed and walked up to Gu Liyan. This time, he was neither afraid nor backed down. Instead, he sat there with his knees drawn up to his chest, looking up at Gu Yan.
Gu Yan knelt down and, to Gu Liyan's surprise, hugged him and said softly, "Good child, I misunderstood you. Can you forgive me?"
Gu Liyan was startled and didn't know how to speak for a moment.
