The empty room was lifeless; the only thing that seemed "vivid" was the still-steaming food.
However, in Liu Changxian's eyes, even the most delicious food tasted bland.
After putting down her chopsticks, Liu Changxian had no appetite left and sighed, having lost all desire to eat.
“Young Master has been very busy with work lately, so it would be better for him to eat more for his health,” said Butler Lin, who was waiting nearby, with a smile.
Liu Changxian shook her head wearily and said, "No need, I really have no appetite right now, take it away."
"Yes!" Butler Lin responded and stepped forward to clear the dishes.
Liu Changxian suddenly remembered something and asked, "By the way, Steward Lin, have you informed Lord Wang that the potion is ready?"
Butler Lin smiled and said, "Not yet. I plan to go to the Prince's mansion after breakfast and deliver the antidote."
Liu Changxian nodded, yawned, and said, "Okay, then I'll leave this to you. Ugh... I didn't sleep a wink last night, I'm going to get some rest."
After Liu Changxian left, Butler Lin smiled slightly, his eyes narrowing as he watched her retreating figure. He then returned to his room after handling the aftermath. Entering the secret room where Gu Liyan was imprisoned through a hidden door, he saw Gu Liyan lying on the ground, barely alive, leaning weakly against the wall. He smiled slightly, walked over, and spoke in his natural voice:
"Little brother, you look a bit tired. Here, your sister brought you some food. Try it!"
Bai Chuan picked up the bowl and handed it to Gu Liyan, but Gu Liyan pushed it away forcefully, causing the bowl and chopsticks to fall to the ground.
"Hmph, ungrateful!" Bai Chuan stepped on Gu Liyan's injured shoulder.
Gu Liyan groaned and his body went limp.
Bai Chuan narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "I know you want me to give you a quick death, but the more you think that way, the more I want to torture you!"
As he spoke, he kicked Gu Liyan to the ground again. After Gu Liyan fell to the ground, Baichuan did not let her go. Instead, he kicked Gu Liyan in the stomach several times.
"Pfft—" Gu Liyan spat out a mouthful of blood mist and collapsed weakly to the ground.
Seeing that Gu Liyan was extremely weak, Baichuan lifted his foot and said with satisfaction, "Don't let me see any dissatisfaction in your eyes, otherwise I'm afraid I won't be able to resist doing something terrible to you."
Gu Liyan's eyes were lifeless. Now, any movement would aggravate all the wounds on his body. The culprit for all of this was the Hundred Rivers Snake Man who impersonated Steward Lin!
Seeing Gu Liyan's cold gaze, Butler Lin smiled and said, "I told you not to look at me like that. I was just afraid you would run away! Don't worry, once my snake people conquer the royal city, I will definitely send you on your way in peace!"
Hearing Bai Chuan's words, Gu Liyan said weakly, "Since you wanted to kill me, why did you keep me alive until now?"
"It's all because of your unparalleled beauty, little brother, that I couldn't resist..." Bai Chuan smiled and pressed down on Gu Liyan.
"Uh..." Gu Liyan winced in pain.
"Ouch, sorry, I touched your wound." Bai Chuan covered her mouth and laughed, but she didn't move away. Instead, she raised her hand and pinched Gu Liyan's shoulder, saying sarcastically, "Look, you've lost so much blood, it really hurts my heart!"
"Ah..." Gu Liyan cried out in pain.
Bai Chuan slowly exerted force, and Gu Liyan was in so much pain that she broke out in a cold sweat, clenching her gums tightly until blood flowed from her mouth.
Bai Chuan was overjoyed by Gu Liyan's frail appearance. He laughed heartily, released her hand, stood up, and looked at Gu Liyan, saying, "Don't worry, I won't actually kill you. After all, your blood is a great tonic for my snake clan! I will offer you to our great Snake King, and he will decide your fate personally. Whether you live or die then will be beyond my control!"
Gu Liyan collapsed to the ground, powerless. The coldness, pain, and fear in his body made him tremble uncontrollably.
Bai Chuan sneered, turned to the snakes beside him and said, "You've trained him very well. Today, I'll take you out to see the world!"
After saying that, the dense swarm of snakes followed Bai Chuan and sped away.
After Baichuan left, Gu Liyan fell into a deep sleep. In his dream, the terrible nightmare reappeared. This time, however, the woman in his dream was Liu Changxian, but she was also a woman with a human head and a snake's body. Her face was indistinct, and she was devouring his body from bottom to top until the moment of his death...
Gu Liyan woke up with a start. He didn't know how long he had slept or whether it was day or night, but he could clearly understand that the imposter, Butler Lin, had ulterior motives and had already begun to act!
"He must be up to something with those snakes. I can't stay here and wait to die. I have to find a way out and tell Xian'er..."
Thinking of this, Gu Liyan stood up unsteadily, but after taking only one step, her legs gave way and she fell to the ground, unable to stand up any longer.
Gu Liyan's legs were in excruciating pain. Looking down at them, he saw that both legs were covered in blood. The step he had just taken had left his bloody footprints. He cursed inwardly, "Damn it, those damned snakes, they deliberately injured my legs so I couldn't escape..."
But for Liu Changxian, for his Xiaobai, how could we stop here!
Gu Liyan gritted her teeth and transformed back into her original form. She supported herself on all fours and staggered toward the direction Bai Chuan had left in. Everywhere she passed, there was a clear claw mark...
At the end of the passage was a wall separating the secret chamber from the outside world. Looking around, Gu Liyan found nothing suspicious. "Strange, the exit mechanism should be nearby. Where is it...?"
Just as Gu Liyan's search yielded no results, a dark shadow flashed past her face. Gu Liyan was startled, and upon closer inspection, she realized it was a long snake crawling out from a crack in the wall.
