Chapter 488 Inheritance of the Throne

Mo Han sneered, "Old Jiang, you have no manners to say that. I remember when I stepped forward to command everyone, you said I was young and impetuous, just a greenhorn who couldn't command respect. My actions made you hesitant and timid, which led to the loss of two major cities. Even today, you still think I can't command respect?"

Jiang Xi raised his head and slammed his cane on the ground, speaking coldly, "Mo Han, you need to be responsible for your words! I'm just worried that you've been blinded by victory! Besides, retreating was a unanimous decision. If you fight to the death like that, wouldn't we have no reserve forces?"

Mo Han sneered, "Ha, that sounds nice. Then let me ask you, why didn't you order reinforcements when the royal city was in crisis? You handed over a city to the snake people, wasn't that your fault!"

Jiang Xi spoke meaningfully, "Ridiculous! How can I bear such a responsibility? Besides, the royal city is teeming with snakes, and the imperial guards are barely able to defend themselves. What if they fall for a diversionary tactic?"

Mo Han snorted and said, "A few non-venomous snakes have scared you so much that you dare not send out troops? What are you thinking of, luring the tiger away from the mountain? Are you too old to fight snakes anymore?"

Jiang Xi's face flushed red, and he said angrily, "Arrogant brat! Are you trying to commit insubordination?!"

"Hahahaha! Insubordination?" Mo Han sneered, "Who do you think you are? You're just a notorious old bandit who leads a bunch of people to work for you, but how much effort have you actually put in yourself?"

"You, you..." Jiang Xi pointed at Mo Han, too angry to speak.

Mo Han sneered, "Stop trying to act superior to me. You know what you've done, and I know it too! Do you think I don't know?"

Jiang Xi's eyes widened as he pointed at Mo Han, "You, you're framing an innocent person!"

Mo Han sneered, "Slandering an innocent person? May I ask what I just slandered you about? You've confessed without being asked. With your IQ, you think you're qualified to point fingers at me?! You want to challenge me for authority? You're not worthy!"

Mo Han's words made Jiang Xi's face turn red with anger.

Mo Han didn't give him a chance to speak and continued, "The reason I want to become the commander is because I'm worried that you'll use your power to corrupt all the rules and regulations that we've worked so hard to establish! I invited you and these old guys around you here today not to let you decide who to choose to replace the commander, but to tell you that this is no longer the world of bandits. You all better keep your tails between your legs! If I catch you doing anything wrong, I'll let you experience the life of an ordinary person!"

The faces of the people around Jiang Xi immediately turned ugly, their eyes filled with resentment, but they dared not refute him because of Mo Han's great abilities.

Jiang Xi slammed his fist on the table and stood up, angrily shouting, "You brat, you're spouting utter nonsense! Although we may have come from bandit backgrounds, I still have blood and a temper. If you ask me, you want to wield absolute power now, you want to be an emperor!"

At this point, Jiang Xi addressed the crowd below the stage, saying, "Everyone! I think you've all been fooled! This guy is a scoundrel and not worth trusting. If he gains power, he definitely won't give you a good future!"

Hearing Jiang Xi's slander, Gu Liyan looked at Mo Han with concern, but Mo Han smiled and looked confident. "Don't worry, the main event is just around the corner! Just watch the show."

None of the people who were expected to criticize Mo Han stood up; instead, they all looked at Jiang Xi as if he were a fool.

Jiang Xi noticed the strange looks from the crowd and didn't dare to continue speaking. For some reason, he felt uneasy...

Li Qiang stepped forward, pointed at Jiang Xi on the stage, and shouted, "You old geezer! I think you're the one who's a scoundrel! You're the only one among you who lives in the biggest house, has hundreds or even thousands of servants, and dozens of guards to watch over you. And all these old geezers around you are the same!"

Jiang Xi and the others blushed with embarrassment, but it was an undeniable fact.

Li Mang continued, "Commander Mo has no house, no servants, no guards! He doesn't even have as much property as we do! Now he lives with us in thatched huts every day, eats wild vegetables with us, and even patrols day and night on the city wall to supervise us. What are you, you old geezer, to have the nerve to call the commander a villain? I think you're the hypocrite, the real villain!"

“You, you…” Jiang Xi pointed at Li Mang, his fingers trembling as he was speechless.

Mo Han smiled slightly and looked at Li Mang with admiration.

Li Qiang stepped forward and continued, "Don't think I don't know, the things your family buys the most are rouge and face powder! Think about it, would a big, burly old man like you need rouge and face powder? Your rouge and face powder are probably for the hundred or so concubines you've taken over the years!"

"You, you're talking nonsense..." Jiang Xi's legs went weak and he sat down in the chair.

Jiang Xi glared fiercely at Li Mang, slammed his fist on the table, and angrily shouted, "Slander! This is a slander! You are Mo Han's remnant, so naturally you're speaking on his side! You, you're all in cahoots!"

Li Mang was so angry that he rolled up his sleeves. "You old geezer, you're really wicked! You actually turned around and accused me. It seems you don't know who I am, do you?"

Li Mang pointed at Jiang Xi and shouted, "Do you know Chuhefang? I'm from Chuhefang! Chuhefang's intelligence is never wrong! It records the names of your 101 concubines! You old geezer with failing eyesight, don't you remember all the names of your concubines yourself? Should I have someone send you the list?"

Jiang Xi was so angry that his chest felt tight, and his face turned pale and then red. He was almost about to faint!

Knowing his identity had been exposed, Li Mang hurriedly said, "Everyone, although I am from Chuhefang, the alliance has united the forces, and the workshop leader sent a few more of my brothers to join us so that Chuhefang can integrate into the group more quickly and facilitate future cooperation!"
