Liu Mengxian sat blankly on the ground, watching the dark blood spread.
Wang Qi sneered, "I'm not that stupid. Knowing you have the ability to make the antidote, why wouldn't I keep a close watch on you? I've had people watching you the whole time! How could I possibly give you the opportunity to make the antidote!"
“I can ignore this city, I can ignore this world, I don’t care if everyone dies from poisoning, but…” Liu Mengxian’s eyes were bloodshot as she glared fiercely at Wang Qi, “But why, why did you let his blood be shed in vain? Why are you so cruel!”
Liu Mengxian roared at Wang Qi, "You deserve to die! You deserve to die!"
Wang Qi turned away, not wanting to see her mad appearance, and sneered, "Using any means to achieve one's goals is something every snake-person should learn. You can only blame your stupidity and naivety!"
"I am not you, I am not a snake-man, I cannot learn your ruthlessness!" Liu Mengxian gritted her teeth and spoke, secretly gripping the scalpel in her hand. Taking advantage of Wang Qi's unpreparedness, she charged towards Wang Qi, shouting, "Die!"
As if he had eyes in the back of his head, Wang Qi dodged Liu Mengxian's sneak attack with a slight movement. He raised his hand, struck Liu Mengxian's wrist, grabbed her hand, and sneered, "With your skills, you're not even worthy of carrying my shoes. What right do you have to avenge him? You're nothing but a piece of trash!"
Liu Mengxian glared fiercely at Wang Qi, her face cold and her eyes flashing with a crimson light.
Wang Qi subconsciously loosened her grip, taking a step back in fear. "You, what happened to your eyes..."
Liu Mengxian's eyes turned bloodshot, and she fearlessly lunged at Wang Qi, like a red lightning bolt, tightly gripping Wang Qi's neck.
Wang Qi stared wide-eyed at Liu Mengxian, whose face was covered in snake-like scales. In her astonishment, she noticed that Liu Mengxian's teeth had become incredibly sharp, clearly a characteristic of a snake-person!
But how could that be—
Wang Qi was held tightly by Liu Mengxian and couldn't speak. He looked at Liu Mengxian in great fear, who was fighting to the death, and didn't even have a chance to beg for mercy.
Just then, a dark shadow flashed by, Liu Mengxian's arm went limp and she collapsed onto Wang Qi, unconscious.
Wang Qi couldn't stop coughing. Seeing the person who came, he hurriedly got up and respectfully said, "Thank you, Wang, for saving my life!"
Wang Meng looked at Liu Mengxian with a cold face and said expressionlessly, "It seems that the poisonous fog has taken effect. It won't be long before the people of the royal city, and even the people of this world, will be assimilated into our society!"
Although Wang Qi was terrified by Liu Mengxian's sudden change, he was still overjoyed by her transformation. "It's all thanks to the king! But... how do we get them to obey us after they've been assimilated?"
Wang Meng's lips curled up. "Don't worry, once they become one of us, they'll have no other choice! Now we can notify the capital; the plan can begin!"
Tonight's night is pure and utterly dark.
Mo Han had a vague premonition of something bad. Looking at the dungeon door, Mo Han dared not go in and face Gu Liyan.
Mo Han kept asking himself, why did he force Gu Liyan to be so perfect? None of this was something he should bear, neither guilt nor burden—
He sighed deeply and slowly closed his eyes. How long had it been since he'd slept? A very long time… He actually felt quite tired…
"Awooo—"
Mo Han shuddered and suddenly opened her eyes. "A werewolf?"
Mo Han hurriedly ran towards the source of the sound, which was in the back alley of the Liu residence. Seeing the werewolf footprints left on the ground, Mo Han hesitated for a moment before climbing over the wall and jumping into the Liu residence.
As soon as I entered, I noticed a flash of red. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was Liu Mengxian coming out of the room and glaring at me.
"It's so late, you're still not asleep?" Mo Han frowned and asked.
"What are you doing here so late?" Liu Mengxian asked Mo Han coldly.
Mo Han didn't think much of Liu Mengxian's unusually cold voice, since they didn't have any good feelings for each other. To avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings, Mo Han said, "It's nothing, I just heard a werewolf howling near your house and was worried it might come here, so—"
"Don't worry about me, get out!" Liu Mengxian interrupted Mo Han, speaking coldly.
"Do you think I wanted to come? It's all for Xiao Li. He did all this for you..." Mo Han's words trailed off. "Never mind, you wouldn't understand even if I told you. Be careful, I'm going to check somewhere else."
Mo Han finished speaking and left.
Seeing him leave, Liu Mengxian returned to her room and locked the door tightly.
Mo Han emerged from the Liu residence, looked around, and frowned. "The snake people and werewolves both carry an aura of evil, so why is the atmosphere around the Liu residence so heavy? Could it be—"
Mo Han stared solemnly at the gate of the Liu residence. Just as she was about to return to confirm it again, a dark figure flashed through the alley. Mo Han immediately shouted, "Who's there? Stop!"
Without further hesitation, he gave chase. It was already close to dawn…
The sleeping Gu Liyan felt someone untying his ropes and, thinking it was Mo Han, mumbled, "Senior brother...it hurts..."
"Hey, does it hurt? It won't hurt in a bit! It will never hurt again!" The piercing voice was like a needle stabbing into Gu Liyan's heart, making him shudder. That voice was—Huo Tong?!
“Huo Tong…” Gu Liyan slowly opened his eyes, looked at Huo Tong in front of him, and his pupils contracted slightly. “You, you…”
Huo Tong's face was mostly corroded by the poison, making him look ugly and terrifying.
Seeing Gu Liyan staring at him in astonishment, Huo Tong revealed a sinister smile. "Hehe, I'm quite terrifying now, aren't I?"
