Gu Liyan smiled and ruffled her hair, a hint of tenderness in his eyes. "Okay, just be good."
Hua Baixian smiled happily; Gu Liyan looked just like the one she remembered!
Hu Ping and the others left happily, and Gu Liyan and Hua Baixian were also happy because of their own worries.
Gu Liyan came in a hurry without wearing a mask or baseball cap. There were more and more people going to work in the morning, so it was inconvenient to walk. The two took a taxi home.
Once inside, Gu Liyan sat on the sofa, wearily rubbing his temples. Seeing Hua Baixian's excited and dazed expression, he said irritably, "Come here and give me a massage."
Hua Baixian blinked. "Is this considered part of my salary?"
Gu Liyan asked irritably, "What salary? Where do you get a salary?"
"Shouldn't I get paid to be your private doctor?" Hua Baixian asked, pouting.
Gu Liyan opened his mouth to refuse, but Hua Baixian, hands on her hips, said, "If there's no salary, I won't be your private doctor!"
“One thousand!” Gu Liyan rolled her eyes and said irritably.
"What? A thousand? You might as well make me beg for food! I earn more as a waitress! I won't do it!" Hua Baixian said, sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed.
"How much do you want?" Gu Liyan asked irritably.
Hua Baixian blinked and held up one finger, "Ten thousand!"
"Huh?" Gu Liyan glared at Hua Baixian, annoyed. "No way! Three thousand at most!"
"Xiao Li, why are you so stingy?" Hua Baixian pouted and asked.
"Being my private doctor will increase your exposure; it's me taking care of you!" Gu Liyan bargained, "Three thousand it is!"
Hua Baixian pouted and said, "Three thousand it is!"
"Why would you need money if you're eating and living with me?" Gu Liyan said irritably.
"None of your business!" Hua Baixian said irritably. "You're so stingy!"
"You're the one... hiss—" Gu Liyan was so angry that his chest hurt, and he squatted down, clutching his chest.
Seeing this, Hua Baixian ran over worriedly and asked, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Gu Liyan broke out in a cold sweat and stammered, "You, you stop making noise..."
Hua Baixian looked at Gu Liyan with a worried expression. "I... I'll go call an ambulance, okay?"
Gu Liyan pulled Hua Baixian back, saying, "No need, I'm fine."
Gu Liyan slowly stood up, picked up a handkerchief and wiped away the cold sweat, seemingly relieved.
"Are you really alright? You still look terrible." Hua Baixian asked anxiously when she saw Gu Liyan's pale face.
Gu Liyan waved his hand, "It's alright, it's an old problem. Go cook, I'm hungry."
Hua Baixian nodded. "Alright, why don't you sit here and rest for a bit?"
Gu Liyan sat on the sofa watching Hua Baixian busy herself and couldn't help but smile. "No need to rush, take your time. The vegetables are all in the refrigerator."
"Oh, oh!" Hua Baixian nodded hurriedly.
Watching Hua Baixian's busy figure, Gu Liyan's lips curled up, and he thought to himself: Could this be considered a time for just the two of them?
