The stench of sweat permeated the air, causing Gu Liyan to cough involuntarily, while Hua Baixian excitedly rushed to the front to choose clothes.
Gu Liyan kept his head down, afraid of being recognized, and secretly looked in Hua Baixian's direction. Seeing that she was in high spirits, he did not disturb her. He found a quiet corner and kept an eye on Hua Baixian out of the corner of his eye, afraid that she would run away.
Hua Baixian squeezed out of the crowd with bags and bundles, and when she couldn't find Gu Liyan, she anxiously paced around in circles.
Gu Liyan couldn't help but laugh as he watched her anxiously searching for him. Just as he was about to go over to find her, he bumped into a fat middle-aged woman. Gu Liyan's arm stung from the impact, and he felt dizzy.
The woman plopped down on the ground, groaning and crying. Before Gu Liyan could apologize, a burly man rushed over from the crowd, anxiously checking the woman's injuries. "Wife, are you alright?"
"My baby is in so much pain!" The middle-aged woman sat on the ground, throwing a tantrum. "He's the one who hit me!"
The burly man angrily charged at Gu Liyan, grabbing his arm and yelling, "You brat, you hit someone and you think you can just run away? Pay up right now!"
The burly man had just grabbed Gu Liyan's injured arm, and the pain made Gu Liyan's face turn pale instantly. He hurriedly said, "You, let go!"
To everyone's surprise, the burly man tightened his grip even more. "What? Trying to run away? Let me tell you, no way!"
Seeing Gu Liyan being bullied from afar, Hua Baixian dropped the clothes she was holding and rushed over, shoving the burly man away, yelling, "What are you doing?!"
The burly man stumbled as he was pushed, and looked at Hua Baixian in surprise, not expecting her to be so strong!
Hua Baixian looked anxiously at Gu Liyan, "Little Li, are you alright?"
Gu Liyan clutched his arm, his face pale. "I'm fine, let's get out of here!"
Just as the two were about to leave, the woman suddenly stood up from the ground, pointed at Gu Liyan and the other, and cursed, "You two, one of you bumped into someone and the other of you hit someone, and you think you can just run away? No way!"
After saying that, she shouted at the top of her lungs, "Everyone come quick! This person hit someone and tried to run away. When we argued with them, this girl even hit them!"
As soon as the woman called out, people gathered around, some even taking out their phones to take pictures and videos.
Gu Liyan hurriedly lowered his head, not daring to look up, while Hua Baixian stood in front of him, saying, "He didn't do it on purpose, don't be unreasonable!"
"Not on purpose? I've had this weird baby for three months, and you think you can just say it wasn't on purpose and call it a day? You should at least pay for my medical expenses!" The woman glared at Hua Baixian with disgust.
"You're clearly fine, this is just extortion!" Hua Baixian said angrily.
Gu Liyan hurriedly pulled Hua Baixian back and said weakly, "Don't argue with her, just give her the money!"
"Xiao Li? Are you alright?" Hua Baixian asked anxiously upon hearing Gu Liyan's weak voice.
"I feel very uncomfortable. Please take care of this quickly and leave immediately!" Gu Liyan felt a sharp pain in his chest, as if it were piercing his heart, and spoke weakly.
"Okay, okay, wait a minute." Hua Baixian said hurriedly, "How much do you two want? I'll give it to you!"
The woman and the burly man exchanged a glance. The woman held out her hand. "One hundred thousand!"
Hua Baixian's eyes widened. "One hundred thousand?! Why don't you just rob us?!"
“If my child is injured, let me tell you, we’ll ask for 100,000, and that’s not the price we’re talking about!” the woman said, hands on her hips.
“You…” Hua Baixian’s chest heaved with anger. Gu Liyan took out a bank card and handed it to Hua Baixian. “Give it to her.”
Seeing Gu Liyan covered in cold sweat, Hua Baixian didn't dare to waste any more time. She handed the bank card to the woman and said irritably, "Here you go!"
The woman saw that the bank card was gold-plated and happily put it away.
Hua Baixian turned around and helped Gu Liyan up. "Xiao Li, let's go."
As the two were about to leave, the burly man suddenly blocked their way and said, "Stop! I've paid for my wife's medical expenses, but what about mine? You just pushed me!"
Hua Baixian felt Gu Liyan's hand trembling and said angrily, "Don't push your luck!"
"Hmph, little girl, you have to pay the price for your mistakes. If you hurt someone, you have to pay compensation! Hurry up and pay up, or you're not leaving!" the burly man sneered.
"I..." Just as Hua Baixian was about to make a move, Gu Liyan's body suddenly went limp and he fell into her arms.
Hua Baixian was startled and exclaimed, "Xiao Li!"
Gu Liyan tripped and fell, his hat falling to the side. A student named Youge, who was engrossed in filming in the crowd, saw Gu Liyan's face and exclaimed, "Mo Li! It's Mo Li!"
All eyes turned to Gu Liyan, and they discovered that the person lying on the ground, pale-faced and covered in cold sweat, was indeed Mo Li herself!
The flashbulbs started going off, surrounding Hua Baixian and her companion completely.
Hua Baixian didn't have time to care about the people taking pictures around her. She hurriedly checked Gu Liyan's body and found that he had no other illnesses except for anemia.
"Xiao Li, tell me where you feel unwell!" Hua Baixian asked anxiously.
Gu Liyan was in so much pain that he was covered in cold sweat, and he weakly said, "I, I'm in pain..."
"Does it hurt? Where does it hurt?" Hua Baixian asked anxiously.
"It hurts...it hurts all over..." Gu Liyan said weakly, "It feels like...like being pricked with needles..."
Hua Baixian suddenly remembered something, and her expression changed drastically. "Could it be that you..."
Gu Liyan's pain gradually subsided, and he opened his eyes, weakly saying, "It's alright, I... I don't hurt anymore..."
Hua Baixian's eyes were red. She already knew that Gu Liyan had inherited the excruciating poison from his previous life, which was why he was in such pain!
