Gu Liyan rested for a while, but lying down was really uncomfortable, so he got up to move around and check on how Hua Baixian's rice was coming along.
As Gu Liyan walked downstairs, she saw Hua Baixian and Mo Chen sitting silently opposite each other and asked curiously, "Mo Chen, you haven't left yet? Are you planning to stay for dinner?"
Mo Chen's face was gloomy, and he did not answer Gu Liyan.
Gu Liyan looked at Hua Baixian strangely, "Why are you free all of a sudden? Is dinner ready?"
Hua Baixian frowned and remained silent.
Gu Liyan stepped between the two, frowning and speaking with displeasure, "I say, you two have hit it off?"
Mo Chen stood up, looked at Gu Liyan with a serious expression, and said, "Mo Li, there's something I want to tell you."
"Haven't you said enough yet?" Gu Liyan rolled his eyes, indicating that Hua Baixian was present.
"This is something I also wanted to tell you," Hua Baixian said, standing up.
Gu Liyan was even more puzzled. What was going on with these two? When did they become on the same side and start talking to each other?
“I was talking to Hua Baixian just now and I discovered something strange. When we were little, we were both at the Quanjiu Orphanage and were taken care of by a man named Ai Xuan.” Mo Chen said without hesitation.
"Quanjiu Orphanage?" Gu Liyan frowned; the name gave him a strange sense of familiarity.
“That’s right, but what’s strange is that we both know Ai Xuan, but we’ve never met each other or any other orphans besides ourselves,” Mo Chen said.
Hua Baixian nodded solemnly. "In my memory, I was the only person at the Quanjiu Orphanage."
Gu Liyan sat down to the side and muttered to himself, "Quanjiu, Quanjiu—could it be!"
Gu Liyan looked at Mo Chen and Hua Baixian, and uttered two words in horror, "Nine Springs!"
The two of them were shocked. Although Mo Chen had no memories of the Nine Springs Realm, judging from the content of the memories that remained, the name of the Nine Springs Realm was very well-known.
If I were to reveal the affairs of the Nine Springs Realm to outsiders, I'm afraid I'd be arrested as a madman.
Gu Liyan frowned deeply. The reason for his panic was that the Nine Springs Realm was a crucial factor in their reincarnation here.
The reason Hua Baixian looked terrified was because all the tribulations she and Gu Liyan had suffered were caused by the endless cycle of reincarnation in the Nine Springs Realm.
Mo Chen took a deep breath, calmed himself down, and said, "Shouldn't we investigate the Quanjiu Orphanage?"
Gu Liyan nodded, and Hua Baixian also agreed without hesitation.
Mo Chen dialed a number on his phone, put it on speakerphone, and said, "Retrieve information about the Quanjiu Orphanage."
"Information investigation in progress!" came the mechanical voice from the other end of the phone. "Quanjiu Orphanage, address: G City, person in charge: Ai Xuan, other data information is corrupted!"
The three of them exchanged glances, their expressions changing slightly. Gu Liyan then spoke up, "Shall we go and see for ourselves?"
Mo Chen and Hua Baixian nodded in unison.
After the three of them finished eating and tidied up, they went out. Although it was getting late, the three of them, who were eager to get an answer, could not wait any longer.
Gu Liyan and Hua Baixian sat in the back, while Mo Chen sat in the passenger seat.
“Speaking of Ai Xuan, my memories of her are only fragmented,” Mo Chen said. “I can’t even remember what she looks like now.”
Hua Baixian frowned and said, "I vaguely remember that she was no more than thirty years old."
"You must be mistaken. It's forty years old, right?" Mo Chen looked at Hua Baixian suspiciously.
“No way! Her hands aren’t rough, and her voice is very gentle. How could she be that old!” Hua Baixian retorted.
"How could you possibly take your childhood memories seriously? Anyway, you're probably an old woman by now!" Mo Chen said bluntly.
"I had a very good memory when I was a child, okay!" Hua Baixian said angrily.
Seeing that the two were about to fight, Gu Liyan hurriedly spoke up, "Alright, you two stop arguing. My headache is starting to return. Please calm down for a while!"
Upon hearing Gu Liyan's words, the two immediately shut their mouths and fell silent once again.
As dusk fell, the three arrived at the Quanjiu Orphanage.
The dilapidated gate was rusty and locked, and there was no sign of anyone living there.
"Has this orphanage been deserted for a long time?" Mo Chen frowned.
But that makes sense, considering he left when he was ten years old, and twenty years have passed since then.
“I was taken away by my adoptive parents when I was ten years old. Fifteen years have passed, so it’s normal that there’s no one around,” Hua Baixian said.
Upon seeing the Quanjiu Orphanage, a memory inexplicably surfaced in Gu Liyan's mind!
When I could still crawl, many people surrounded me, wearing white coats, staring at me with solemn and tense expressions, injecting drugs into my body—
Gu Liyan shuddered, suddenly feeling intense pain in his body. His face contorted in agony, and he broke out in a cold sweat. He groaned and squatted down.
Seeing this, Hua Baixian and Mo Chen rushed over, "Xiao Li, are you alright?"
Gu Liyan was in so much pain that he couldn't speak; he felt the pain was even more intense than the last time!
Hua Baixian and Mo Chen were at a loss for what to do. The surrounding area was deserted, and it would be a long way to get to the hospital, let alone find a place to stay.
Fortunately, the pain didn't last long. Gu Liyan's physical pain gradually subsided, and apart from being a little weak, she was fine.
"I'm fine now..." Gu Liyan breathed a sigh of relief.
Mo Chen took out a bottle of mineral water and handed it to Gu Liyan.
After drinking the water, just as the three were deciding whether to stay or leave, the lock on the gate miraculously broke and fell to the ground, then opened with a piercing sound!
The three looked at each other, wondering what secrets the Quanjiu Orphanage held.
