Gu Liyan picked up his coat and draped it over Hua Baixian, then draped his own coat over Gu Tao before waking them up. "Get up! Are you two pigs? You slept the whole way! Get out of the car now!"
Mo Chen looked at Gu Liyan with a mixture of amusement and exasperation, realizing that he himself had slept the whole way!
After getting off the car, the group went into the King of Fighters Hotel.
"Boss, three rooms, please!" the driver said to the drowsy receptionist.
The man glanced at Gu Liyan and the others and said, "There are only two, not three! Take them or leave."
“This…” The driver looked at Mo Chen.
Mo Chen nodded. "Open."
After getting the key, Mo Chen handed it to Gu Liyan, saying, "You three can share a room, and the two of us can share it too."
Gu Liyan frowned. "How about letting him sleep in the car?"
Mo Chen said irritably, "Do you want your son to freeze to death?"
Gu Liyan reluctantly invited the two into the room. There was only one bed in the room. The three looked at each other in bewilderment. Gu Liyan and Hua Baixian rushed out and jumped onto the bed at the same time.
"What are you doing up here? You're hired by me, go sleep on the floor!" Gu Liyan said with a serious expression.
"You're so heartless! Haven't you ever heard of the saying 'cherish a woman'? I'm a girl! You, a grown man, should give way to me!" Hua Baixian didn't care about anything else anymore. Letting her sleep on the sofa was one thing, but the floor was unacceptable! What if a mouse got in?
"What do you mean by 'cherishing a beautiful woman'? Are you a beautiful woman? Are you a beautiful woman? You are nothing, so why should I cherish you! Besides, I've never heard of a woman who can beat ten strong men sleeping in a bed!" Gu Liyan directly crawled into the quilt and took control.
"You!" Hua Baixian was furious. She never expected that Gu Liyan was a gentle and refined gentleman in his previous life, but now he was a cold, ruthless, and petty straight man!
Gu Liyan proudly raised her chin, successfully occupying the high ground.
Hua Baixian spread out her bedding with a wronged expression, and Gu Tao came up to help, saying, "Mother, let me help you."
Hua Baixian looked at Gu Tao's obedient appearance and glared at Gu Liyan, "If he can have such an obedient son, he is truly blessed!"
Gu Liyan snorted coldly, turned over, and said irritably, "I need to rest, you two, don't bother me!"
Hua Baixian wanted to say something, but Gu Tao tugged at her sleeve and gently shook his head. Seeing that Gu Liyan had already closed his eyes, Hua Baixian didn't argue with him anymore.
When he turned off the lights to sleep, the cold wind blew in through the cracks in the doors and windows, aggravating the pain inside his body. Gu Liyan shivered uncontrollably from the pain and, unable to fall asleep, sat up covered in sweat.
When he woke up from the poisoning, he felt as if a thousand pounds were weighing him down. He looked down at the mother and child lying on the ground and frowned when he saw them huddled in a corner. "These two idiots, couldn't they have put on a few more blankets?"
Gu Liyan carefully carried Gu Tao to the bed, and seeing him sleeping soundly, muttered, "This kid, he sleeps pretty well in this kind of environment!"
Gu Liyan carried Hua Baixian to the bed again, but now there was no room for him on the bed. He sighed helplessly, "Fine, I guess I'll have to sleep on the floor!"
Gu Liyan had just lain down when he heard footsteps outside the door. He opened his eyes, got up, and cautiously went to the doorway, listening intently.
"Are they all asleep?" The voice belonged to the man at the front desk.
"I used a sleeping potion on the way, and I was so sleepy that I went to bed a long time ago."
Gu Liyan was slightly surprised; it was the voice of the driver who was traveling with her.
"That makes things easier. We must catch Mo Li this time!" the receptionist said.
Gu Liyan looked puzzled. Why were they arresting him?
Gu Liyan thought for a moment and decided not to act rashly, but instead lay back down to observe the situation.
The door was unlocked with a key, and two footsteps entered, one after the other.
Gu Liyan felt someone lift her up, but she didn't resist and let them carry her away. Suddenly, she felt herself being tied up with ropes and then thrown into a car. Dazed and disoriented, Gu Liyan panicked. Where were they taking her?!
Are they going to kidnap me?!
Gu Liyan was unable to break free of the ropes, but the car was still moving. She secretly glanced at the driver, who was her own driver; there was no one else.
Suddenly the driver spoke up, "I know you're awake. Don't worry, I won't hurt you."
Gu Liyan didn't pretend to be confused and asked with a puzzled look, "Why did you arrest me?"
"Someone wants to see you, but it's inconvenient for them to do so, so this is the only way they can see you." The driver glanced in the rearview mirror and realized that Gu Liyan didn't possess any particularly strong martial arts skills as he had imagined, which put him at ease.
"Who wants to see me?" Gu Liyan felt inexplicably uneasy.
"You'll know when we get there," the driver said, then fell silent and focused on driving.
Gu Liyan frowned. Whoever wanted to see him, shouldn't they at least provide some kind of warmth? He was freezing in his pajamas!
"I'm telling you, I'm your employer, can you please turn on the heater? I'm freezing!" Gu Liyan said irritably.
Seeing Gu Liyan shivering from the cold, the driver laughed and said, "Even if you turn it on now, you won't have a chance to warm up."
"What do you mean?" Gu Liyan had barely finished speaking when the driver stopped the car.
"We've arrived!" the driver said with a smile as he turned around.
Gu Liyan was taken off the car to a cold storage room, which was even colder than the weather outside. A group of men in black surrounded the cold storage room. They wore black glasses, and their eyes were not visible, but they exuded a terrifying killing intent.
