After getting drunk, Li Hao lay on the bed and slept soundly. Looking at his youthful face, Hua Baixian couldn't help but laugh. "When I first met him, he was just a child. Now he's the same age as us... I never thought fate would be like this."
Gu Liyan smiled and said, "Yes, but what hasn't changed is his passionate sense of justice. We owe a lot to him for his help this time."
His sleepy face held a hint of worry as Gu Liyan lowered his eyes and softly said, "This time, we've dragged him down again..."
Hua Baixian stepped forward, took Gu Liyan's hand, and said, "Little Li, don't worry, everything will be alright."
Gu Liyan held Hua Baixian's hand tightly and nodded slightly.
At this moment, Hua Baixian suddenly remembered something, "Right, we haven't notified Xiao Tao yet. Could Mo Chen have hurt him?"
Gu Liyan frowned and said, "Xiao Tao hasn't contacted us recently, and we don't know where she went. However, Mo Chen didn't threaten us with Xiao Tao, so I think Xiao Tao should be fine."
"Should we ask Mo Chen to find out where Xiao Tao is?" Hua Baixian asked with some concern.
“I don’t think so. Xiao Tao is smart and will find a way to solve any difficulties on his own. If we step in, it will only expose his disappearance and cause him trouble.” Gu Liyan thought for a moment and said, “If Xiao Tao wants to find us, as long as we make a headline, he will know where we are.”
Gu Liyan always trusted Gu Tao's abilities; she was definitely not a fool and would surely be able to find her whereabouts.
Hua Baixian nodded. "That's right. If Xiao Tao stays with us, it will actually be detrimental to him."
Although Gu Liyan didn't say he was worried, he was actually quite nervous inside. He felt that there was no basis for Gu Tao's appearance in this world—perhaps the breakthrough for this mission should lie in Gu Tao herself!
Resting her chin on her hand, Gu Tao looked out the window at the garden where the rain was drizzling, and sighed repeatedly, "When will this ever end..."
Gu Tao was neither imprisoned by Mo Chen nor discovered by the Xuan Tian Dao people. Instead, she was currently in a villa area called Gu Sheng and was unable to leave.
His story begins a few days ago when he delivered a nutritious soup to Gu Liyan—
As an "outsider," Gu Tao had no money, but fortunately, because of his short stature, he always rode the bus for free.
I was waiting for the bus with the nutritious soup I had just made when I passed a cake shop and saw a middle-aged woman in tattered clothes pulling at a girl.
The girl was only five or six years old, dressed in a princess dress. She was beautiful and elegant, but her eyes were red and swollen from crying. She pouted and looked unwilling to go with the middle-aged woman, but she was powerless to stop the woman's violence.
Gu Tao watched them struggling and unable to move forward in the street, and began to have some doubts.
The middle-aged woman said impatiently, "You brat, you sneaked out and aren't going home! Come with me right now!"
The girl burst into tears, attracting the attention of passersby. The middle-aged woman, her face grim, snapped, "Cry, cry, cry! All you do is cry! Come with me right now!"
As he spoke, he forcefully pulled the girl's arm, causing her to cry even louder in pain—
Gu Tao ran over, pushed the middle-aged woman aside, and shielded the girl behind her. The woman fell to the ground, and Gu Tao immediately poured the nutritious soup she was holding onto the woman. The woman screamed in pain from the scalding soup, and Gu Tao dropped the food container, grabbed the girl behind her, and ran away.
The girl nervously held his hand and followed behind him. In the blink of an eye, they escaped from the crowd.
After running for several blocks, Gu Tao stopped when she saw that no one was chasing her. "Phew, thank goodness they didn't catch up."
Gu Tao looked at the girl and said, "You're such a coward! You were kidnapped and didn't even ask for help. If I hadn't noticed, you might have been sold somewhere else!"
Tears welled up in the girl's eyes, and she choked out, "I... I ran away secretly. I didn't want to go home... That auntie said she would show me dolls, so I went with her."
Gu Tao rolled her eyes. "There's no such thing as a free lunch. She's lying to you!"
The girl started sobbing as soon as she realized she had been deceived.
Gu Tao said helplessly, "Alright, stop crying. My name is Gu Tao. What's your name?"
"Sakura, everyone calls me Sakura," Sakura said, sounding aggrieved.
Gu Tao reached out and wiped away Xiao Ying's tears, saying, "Xiao Ying? I'm older than you. Call me 'brother,' and I'll take you home!"
"Brother Peach," Sakura said to Kotoko, then asked in confusion, "But aren't you a girl? Why do you want me to call you brother?"
Gu Tao glared at him, put his hands on his hips, and said, "I'm a man! A real man, okay!"
Sakura blinked, looking incredulous.
"Alright, alright, just tell me where you live, and I'll take you home!" Gu Tao said generously.
Sakura lowered her head and said shyly, "I don't know where I live..."
Gu Tao rolled her eyes in anger upon hearing this, and said irritably, "You don't even know where your own home is? You're not some noble lady who's never left the house before, are you?"
Sakura shook her head and then nodded. She didn't know what a young lady was, but it was true that she had never left home.
This is really putting Gu Tao in a difficult position. Does she really have to help this young lady find her way home? She should have known better than to meddle!
However, watching Sakura being taken away by human traffickers is hard to bear, and I'm really torn.
"Sakura, do you still remember the way you came here?" Gu Tao asked.
"Yes, I got off the bus at the entrance of the amusement park up ahead," Sakura said, pointing to the amusement park not far ahead.
