Chapter 436 Encountering Ancient Romance

"Your Majesty, the White Emperor! The Demon Clan has regrouped. We beseech Your Majesty to lead us!"

Gu Liyan looked at the crowd kneeling before him and swallowed hard: What's going on? Who are these people? Why are they suddenly calling me the White Emperor? Where did Ping'er teleport me to?!

Gu Liyan was anxious and restless, and remained in a daze for a long time.

"Lord Baidi?" Seeing that Gu Liyan did not speak, everyone asked in unison.

Gu Liyan snapped out of her daze, looked at them but hesitated, as if afraid she might reveal something.

Just as he was about to admit that he was not the White Emperor, a sound like the cawing of a crow suddenly came from the sky.

Gaa gaa gaa—

The sound was piercing, sending a shiver down everyone's spine.

Upon hearing this voice, the soldier kneeling at the front of Gu Liyan, clad in golden armor and a golden helmet, hurriedly exclaimed, "These are the demon clan's patrol eagles! Your Majesty, we cannot linger here; we must leave quickly!"

Gu Liyan looked up and saw a flock of dark birds in the distance scattering as if leaving their nest, surrounding the entire mountain.

As a flock of patrolling eagles flew towards them, Gu Liyan suddenly remembered reading in a book about the calamity bird, a offspring of a crow and an eagle, which was trained by demons to become patrolling eagles.

Thinking of the habits of the patrolling eagles, Gu Liyan frowned and said to the golden-armored warrior, "The trees here are withered and there is no cover. Fortunately, the eagles have limited vision. Before they come over, everyone quickly look for a cave nearby where we can take shelter."

Upon hearing Gu Liyan's analysis, everyone was filled with admiration and excitement, and without the slightest intention of disobeying, they all knelt down and said, "Yes, sir!"

Gu Liyan looked at them, puzzled. Why did their gazes seem to be those of someone looking at her second parents?

Seeing how serious they looked, Gu Liyan felt that if her identity were exposed, they would definitely turn around and kill her. It was best to stay away from this group; if she had the chance, she would definitely sneak away!

The golden-armored warrior led the team, searching for the cave alongside the silver-armored warriors. Gu Liyan was not idle either; she spread her divine sense to search as well.

Just as the patrolling eagle was about to pass through their area, Gu Liyan suddenly noticed a waterfall not far away, and behind the waterfall was a cave large enough for one person to pass through. He immediately said, "Follow me!"

Upon hearing Gu Liyan's words, both the golden-armored and silver-armored warriors followed him in unison. Gu Liyan had gradually become accustomed to their "obedience" and strode ahead to lead the way.

They soon arrived at the waterfall. Gu Liyan pointed and said, "The cave behind this waterfall is big enough to hold all of us. Let's go in and hide!"

"yes!"

As they entered the waterfall, the passage was only wide enough for two people. Gu Liyan walked in front, followed closely by a group of twos behind her.

Surprisingly, the inside was surrounded by jade discs that emitted a faint glow, and the words engraved on them could be clearly seen.

The golden-armored warrior looked at the writing on the wall, glanced at Gu Liyan with a puzzled expression, and asked with a questioning tone, "Your Majesty, forgive my ignorance, but what is written on this stone wall? Could Your Majesty please explain it to us?"

When Gu Liyan heard him ask, she didn't doubt him, but instead looked up.

The handwriting was indeed his Bai ethnic minority script. He smiled and translated, "Oh, it says that this cave was opened up by a man named Mo Bai, along with two strategists, to help his soldiers avoid patrolling eagles..."

However, as he continued reading, Gu Liyan suddenly paused, and exclaimed in surprise, "Huh? That's strange, the following words sound like..."

What about the tone of voice when spoken by an acquaintance?

Thinking of this, Gu Liyan felt that the atmosphere around him was a bit strange, and a chill ran down his spine, as if it was filled with murderous intent.

Turning around, he saw that the people who had been respectful to him had actually drawn their swords and were pointing them at him.

Gu Liyan was startled. "What are you doing?"

The golden-armored warrior pointed his golden iron sword at Gu Liyan's throat. "Speak! Why are you impersonating Lord Bai Di!"

Gu Liyan blurted out instinctively, "How do you know I'm not the White Emperor?"

The golden-armored warrior narrowed his eyes and sneered, "Just as I thought! If you really are Lord White Emperor, why would you feel so unfamiliar with the name Mo Bai!"

Gu Liyan looked up at the name mentioned on the jade wall. "Mo Bai? Could this be..."

Gu Liyan's expression changed immediately. How come he hadn't thought of the significance of Mo Bai?

That White Emperor must be…

"Lord Baidi's courtesy name is Mobai!"

The golden-armored warrior spoke coldly, "Do you think Lord White Emperor wouldn't even remember his own name?"

Having been exposed by the golden-armored warrior, Gu Liyan knew that there was no point in explaining any further, so she simply admitted, "I have never admitted to being the White Emperor from the beginning; it is you who have always believed that I am the White Emperor!"

Upon hearing Gu Liyan's words, everyone exchanged glances before their gazes finally settled on the golden-armored warrior.

Upon hearing this, the golden-armored warrior angrily retorted, "Although we misunderstood you, you cannot flaunt the White Emperor's appearance in public! The White Emperor's reputation will absolutely not be tarnished by you!"

The golden-armored warrior coldly said, "How about this? As long as you're willing to disfigure yourself, we'll pretend we've never met."

Upon hearing this, Gu Liyan angrily retorted, "You want me to ruin my appearance? I thought you were kind people, but I didn't expect you to be so domineering. I must have been blind to bring you here!"

The golden-armored warrior brandished his sword and said, "I advise you to be sensible. You can't handle so many of us by yourself!"
