Li Erniang turned to look out the window, just as a bolt of lightning ripped across the sky...
"The stage of this world has been set, preparing to stage a grand feast for the geniuses of the world. Whether you step onto that stage as a king or sit in the audience as a spectator depends on you—"
— Rumble
Thunder rumbled, foreshadowing wind and rain, highlighting Qingge's exquisite beauty. And reflected in her dark eyes was the face of a stunningly handsome young man…
Li Hao changed the gauze covering Gu Liyan's eyes, and now he was sleeping soundly.
Li Hao glanced at Qingge, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, staring intently at Gu Liyan, and said with concern, "There's a calming medicine on this gauze. Brother Gu will probably sleep until tomorrow. Fairy Sister, it's getting late, why don't you go and rest first?"
Qingge raised her head, shook her head and said, "No need. Since Gu Liyan is alright now, I'll go back to the palace."
Li Hao was slightly taken aback, and asked in surprise, "Fairy Sister, you said you're going back to the palace? Could it be that you..."
Qingge smiled slightly and nodded. "I am a palace person. I left in a hurry without informing anyone, so I cannot stay outside for too long."
Li Hao was a little disappointed when he heard this. "Oh, is that so? I thought you would stay, Fairy Sister. I didn't expect you to leave so soon after we met."
"It's okay, I'll come back to see you when I have time," Qingge comforted her.
Hearing Qingge's words, Li Hao nodded happily, "Okay, then I'll wait for the fairy sister."
Qingge stood up, still looking at Gu Liyan with some concern, "Then... I'll leave him in your care."
“Okay.” Li Hao nodded seriously.
Just as Qingge was about to leave, Gu Liyan suddenly mumbled, "Xiao Bai..."
"Brother Gu is awake!" Li Hao excitedly ran to Gu Liyan and called out to Qingge, "Fairy Sister, come quickly!"
Qingge stood rooted to the spot, watching Gu Liyan without moving, her brows furrowed, a surge of anger rising within her. Gu Liyan hadn't even called her name just now! And yet, after all the worry she'd gone for his health, he was thinking of someone else!
"Hmph, no need, it's too late, I'll go back!" Qingge snorted coldly, sulking.
After saying that, he turned and left without waiting for Li Hao to speak.
Li Hao scratched his head in confusion. "We waited all night just to wake up Brother Gu, so why did he leave as soon as he woke up?"
Li Hao glanced at Gu Liyan, who showed no signs of waking up at all; he hadn't actually woken up, he had just been talking in his sleep.
"He's still not awake!" Li Hao sighed helplessly.
...The darkness in the dream was finally replaced by light for the first time, which was a rare and beautiful dream for Gu Liyan.
In his dream, he could see, yet he could also see. Though still blind, someone was supporting him as he moved forward—it was Hua Baixian!
She carefully supported Gu Liyan, smiling gently...
But the sweet dream didn't last long. Hua Baixian suddenly let go of his hand, turned and ran away, only to fall into someone else's arms. When she turned back to Gu Liyan, all she could do was laugh...
Immediately afterwards, countless voices rang in Gu Liyan's ears:
"He's blind."
"No matter how good-looking he is, he's still a useless person!"
"He's not worthy of our princess!"
"A toad trying to eat swan meat, what a useless piece of trash!"
"Why isn't this kind of person dead yet? He's such a waste of resources to be alive!"
Gu Liyan trembled all over. Being ridiculed and insulted didn't matter to him. Nothing was more frightening than losing her. And this fear was far more terrifying than death itself!
Suddenly the dream shattered, and endless pain swept over it—
"Brother Gu! Brother Gu! What's wrong with you?" Li Hao gently shook Gu Liyan's hand, only to see Gu Liyan's body trembling violently, vomiting black poisonous blood, which really startled Li Hao.
Gu Liyan suddenly stopped trembling and stopped vomiting blood. Everything returned to calm, a deathly calm!
Li Hao swallowed hard, his hand trembling as he raised it to check Gu Liyan's breath. His expression changed instantly, and he hurriedly felt his pulse. The lifeless pulse made him turn deathly pale, and his eyes immediately welled up with tears.
"Brother Gu, don't scare me! Brother Gu, wake up! Don't die!"
No breathing, no pulse
Li Hao was terrified and at a loss, pacing around the room trying to figure out how to contact Li Erniang.
In Gu Liyan's world, however, nothing has yet become truly dead...
I don't know when, but gradually light and shadow appeared in his eyes...
Gu Liyan's heartbeat gradually returned to normal, her breathing became steady, and she woke up from the nightmare—
"My second aunt is gone, and my eldest brother is dead too. What am I going to do?! Waaaaah..."
The first thing Gu Liyan heard upon regaining consciousness was Li Hao's wailing. He frowned slightly; Li Hao's voice was far too clear and too piercing! It reverberated in his ears, almost shattering his eardrums!
Gu Liyan's head was throbbing from Li Hao's constant crying. She said impatiently, "Stop crying! You're so annoying!"
Li Hao, who was crying with his back to Gu Liyan, suddenly froze, turned around and looked at Gu Liyan. He was overjoyed and went to Gu Liyan's side. "Brother Gu, you, you're not dead?"
The moment Li Hao approached, Gu Liyan felt the sound growing louder, causing her to have a splitting headache and break out in a cold sweat. She immediately said irritably, "You're the one who's dead! Don't talk, let me rest a bit."
"Okay, okay, okay." Li Hao nodded obediently.
Gu Liyan was just about to close his eyes when he suddenly remembered something and hurriedly asked, "Qingqing? Qingqing?"
