Chapter 140 Symbiosis and Shared Death

"Ah Kun..." Hua Yue ran through the battlefield, searching.

"Our homeland lies behind us, our loved ones are in the city, no one is allowed to retreat! Slaughter all the barbarians!"

Suddenly, a powerful voice rang out, and Hua Yue trembled. It was Wang Qiankun's voice.

Looking up in the direction of his voice, I saw that the man in armor was covered in blood, whether it was his own blood or the blood of his enemies that had soaked into his body!

His voice rang out, and all the soldiers were instantly energized, charging straight into the enemy ranks and fearlessly killing the enemy. In that instant, the enemy was at a disadvantage.

"Follow me and kill them—" Wang Qiankun took the lead and charged into the deeper part of the battlefield alone.

Hua Yue felt a sharp pain in her heart upon seeing this. "So he sacrificed so much for the royal city..."

Watching Wang Qiankun tirelessly slaughter the enemy, from daylight to nightfall, the entire land was stained with blood. Finally, the barbarian army retreated, frightened away by the invincible war god.

"Great! We won!"

"Hahaha, we won!"

"Long live General Wang!"

Hearing the cheers of her soldiers, Hua Yue covered her mouth and burst into tears. Regardless of victory or defeat, the fallen soldiers were enough to move her! She ran towards Wang Qiankun; she wanted to see the man she had loved for a lifetime!

When I approached him, his gaze was fixed on the distance, somewhat lost in thought.

Hua Yue smiled and stepped forward, "Ah Kun..."

Just then, unexpectedly, Wang Qiankun suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the ground!

"Ah Kun!"

Hua Yue instinctively reached out to help him, but Wang Qiankun's body passed right through her hand.

With a thud, he fell to the ground, and in an instant, Huayue saw blood gushing out from beneath him!

He was injured, badly injured!

"Ah Kun!" Hua Yue shouted anxiously.

Wang Qiankun, his consciousness fading into unconsciousness, seemed to hear something and opened his eyes, looking in Hua Yue's direction, "Xiao, Xiao Yue..."

Hua Yue was stunned. She looked into Wang Qiankun's eyes, and it was as if the whole world had fallen silent.

"So you... have always been by my side... Don't worry... I... I will protect you..." Wang Qiankun smiled slightly at Hua Yue, then slowly closed his eyes.

"Ah Kun!" Hua Yue cried out in alarm.

Just then, the soldiers behind him arrived and carried Wang Qiankun away.

Hua Yue knelt on the ground, "You've been fighting for me all along, haven't you? You've always fought for me? Ah Kun... how could you be so foolish..."

The tears fell to the ground and disappeared. When she opened her eyes again, she was in a dark room with a faint candlelight. Hua Yue saw Wang Qiankun sitting at the table writing something.

Hua Yue wiped away her tears and walked over curiously to take a look, but she froze on the spot after just one glance.

It clearly says on it:

Hua Yue, by the time you read this letter, I will have already died on the battlefield. I am so sorry that I could not fulfill my promise from back then, that I did not have the chance to marry you, and that I made you wait for me for so long. I am truly sorry.

I always selfishly thought that if I could live to see the day the barbarians retreated and surrendered, I would be the most selfish person in the world, wanting to possess you for a lifetime!

Unfortunately, I failed this time and couldn't come back. If that's the case, please forget about our marriage and find someone else to marry!

Wang Qiankun's Last Words

Hua Yue stared blankly at the letter. Before she could come to her senses, a horn sounded outside the door. Wang Qiankun hurriedly stopped writing, put the letter in a box full of letters, and then quickly put on his armor and ran outside.

Hua Yue watched Wang Qiankun's retreating figure, her heart aching terribly. Did he leave her a letter every time he went to war?

Turning his head to look at the letters in the box, so many of them bore witness to his journey!

So, without realizing it, he's already teetered on the brink of life and death so many times...

She only wanted to survive so that the barbarians could retreat and marry her...

Hua Yue's tears flowed uncontrollably. "Ah Kun, you're such a fool! Whether you live or die, I, Hua Yue, will always be yours! Why didn't you marry me sooner? Waaah... You're such a fool..."

Hua Yue closed her eyes; she didn't want to see his memories anymore. She already knew that his memories were filled with her image...

She had no more reservations. She was his in life and his in death. She was willing to spend her life with him, even if it was only for one day!

——

Hua Yue opened her eyes and found her hand being held by a pair of warm hands. Looking into the eyes of the owner of those hands, she smiled gently, "You're awake? War God!"

Wang Qiankun smiled gently and stroked her long hair. "I had a very long dream. I dreamt that someone was standing outside the military camp giving me clothes, but he didn't dare to come in..."

"I dreamt that someone was secretly watching me as I went to war, but dared not approach me..."

"I also dreamed that someone... cooked a whole table of food and was waiting for me to come back..."

As he spoke, Wang Qiankun's eyes reddened, and he cried. The war god who fought bloody battles on the battlefield actually cried!

“Hua Yue, that person looks just like you…” Wang Qiankun held Hua Yue’s hand tightly and spoke softly.

Hua Yue paused, seeing his gentleness, and recalling everything she had witnessed, tears streamed down her face. "I also dreamt of a fool who saved me from the river and then ran away shyly, who secretly watched me when I first danced, who called my name during battle, and..."

Hua Yue choked up as she spoke, "He also wrote so many letters that he dared not let me see! Tell me, wasn't that fool incredibly foolish..."
