Chapter 55 There is someone at home who is stricter than the teacher

She was afraid that something might happen to Qin Ge, and she regretted having disturbed Qin Ge in the way she had just done. They had relied on him to get to where they were today, and she knew how difficult it had been for Qin Ge to get to where he was today.

Shengxia returned home with Qin Ge with a heavy heart. Qin Ge still had to study, so Shengxia wanted to accompany him. Qin Ge took a thick coat from the bedroom and put it on Shengxia. He continued to read. Shengxia was next to him, holding a piece of paper with something folded on it.

Qin Ge looked at the book and drawings, and drew them from time to time. When he remembered to check the clock, it was already 2:30 in the evening. When he looked at Shengxia, he found that she had fallen asleep on the table.

Qin Ge carefully took away the folded paper in her hand, picked her up, put her into the bedroom gently, covered her with a quilt, closed the door, and went outside to continue reading.

After the holiday, Qin Ge sent Shengxia to school in the morning. Qin Ge was going to the government to meet the person in charge of this project with Boss Zhao. They had an appointment at the city government office at 8:30, so he sent Shengxia off early today.

Shengxia was dozing off in the car. Although she got up a little early, she was still very happy. Qin Ge was not as busy as he was at the beginning. He would basically take her to school, and would go earlier or later if there was something important.

Shengxia had breakfast in the cafeteria and it was still early when she arrived at the classroom. No one else had arrived yet, only Feng Caiwei was seriously studying a professional book.

"Hey, Shengxia, you're here. Are you better? I find you're really weird. You sleep during class at school, but once you get home, you study really hard."

Feng Caiwei picked up her schoolbag, which was surprisingly heavy. "You're carrying so many books back even when you're sick. I'm really impressed by you. Is the study environment at home better than at school?"

Shengxia threw her schoolbag on the desk and fell on the chair. Thinking about how Qin Ge forced her to copy the schedule five times the day before she came to school, she couldn't help but sigh.

"I can't help it. There's someone at home who's even stricter than the teacher! I don't think I'm really suited to taking leave. The word 'leave' and I just don't belong together!"

Feng Caiwei came over and knocked on her ear and said, "Shengxia, you won the prize!"

Shengxia got up early today, so she was very sleepy. She lazily opened her eyelids and asked, "What prize? Canteen meals are free?"

"It's a hundred times better than this!" Feng Caiwei gave her a proud look. "I heard that the original teacher of Introduction to Linguistics was sent abroad to study further, and now Professor Gao Junwan is substituting for us! Do you know who Professor Gao is? He's the vice president of the Institute of Foreign Languages! He's been commended by national leaders!"

Feng Caiwei looked at him like he was an idiot and lowered her voice, "I heard it's the research institute that specializes in foreign language teaching materials! Oh! I don't know the details, but I want to go too! I'll go with you next Wednesday!"

Shengxia lay on the table and yawned: "That's perfect, it's still early... I'm going to take a nap, remember to wake me later."

On Wednesday, Shengxia had attended classes for the whole morning and had just finished lunch and rested for a short while when she was pulled up by Feng Caiwei.

"Feng Caiwei! What are you doing...? It's only one o'clock!"

Feng Caiwei hurriedly slung her schoolbag around her neck. "Hurry up, hurry up, today's class is Introduction to Linguistics! We have to go early to reserve a seat...! I just heard from my classmates that even students from the export market are coming to attend the class! If you go a little late, there won't be any seats left!"

The course Introduction to Linguistics was originally held in a small classroom on the third floor, but because Professor Gao was coming, the school moved the class to the large tiered classroom on the first floor. When the two of them rushed to the classroom, they saw that the classroom, which could originally accommodate 100 people, was now crowded with at least 200 people.

Many people had no seats and had to stand on the side. In addition to students from the Foreign Languages Department, students from other departments also came to join in the fun. As soon as you entered the room, it was full of people and noisy, and there was no place to even step.

Feng Caiwei struggled to squeeze into the middle row and waved to her classmates: "Do you have a seat? Do you have a seat?!"

It was late autumn, and the students attending class were all wearing sweaters and jackets, which made them look even thicker. Not only did they take up space, but they also created a lot of friction. Shengxia was being dragged along by Feng Caiwei to squeeze in. "Don't push, don't push, move your bags aside...! My sweater is getting tangled!"

Finally squeezing in and finding a seat, Feng Caiwei breathed a sigh of relief. "So many people are here! Class still has more than half an hour to go. I think we'll have to squeeze in soon. Luckily I dragged you here a little earlier."

My lungs are almost squashed in the heat of summer: "Oh my God, it's so cold and I can't open the windows. It's going to stink to death soon!"

Soon, more and more people came into the classroom, filling up the entire tiered classroom like dumplings. The two rows at the back were occupied by teachers from the Foreign Languages Department.

Following a burst of warm applause, the department head stood up and applauded to welcome Professor Gao Junwan.

Professor Gao was much younger than Shengxia had imagined, a middle-aged woman in her forties, who was wearing a black cheongsam, with her hair neatly tied up, and she exuded a strong scholarly air.

The department head first went to the podium to thank Professor Gao for coming to teach, then gave a speech, and then warmly welcomed Professor Gao again.

Feng Caiwei was thrilled. "Professor Gao is a genuine simultaneous interpreter by training! She's already editing her own textbooks at only forty-something. I've even seen some of her translations in the library! Each one is more impressive than the other, and she's an expert in our country! She came to teach us, and the principal personally invited her several times... What a precious opportunity!"

Sheng Xia looked at Professor Gao who was lecturing on the stage: "No wonder, she looked so proud just now."

After one class, Feng Caiwei completely became Professor Gao's number one fan. As long as it was an Introduction to Linguistics class, she would definitely drag Qin Ge to attend the class regardless of the weather. Shengxia would also attend, as she had promised Qin Ge that she would not miss the class.

In December, there was a winter rain in Hai City, which drizzled for more than a week. The clothes hung outside never dried and felt cold and damp when squeezed.

On such a rainy day, apart from Feng Caiwei who insisted on going to the library all day, Shengxia couldn't wait to go home and get into bed as soon as the get out of class was over, and even wanted to eat in bed.

Qin Ge felt that her hands and feet were cold, so he took her to the mall to buy her some thick sweaters and coats. He also bought her a thermos cup worth over a hundred yuan and asked her to bring it to the classroom and drink more hot water.

Qin Ge always does what he says. No matter how busy he is at work, he will go home on time at least three days a week. The time the two of them spend together sober is not long. If Qin Ge really has no time, he will take advantage of the lunch break to spend some time with Shengxia.
