Chapter 2 Jiu Ye: Saving Fu Tong'er

In the Great Yan Empire, at the feet of the emperor, cold and heavy snow covered the imperial city.

Fu Tong'er crawled out of the dog hole in Prince Hui's mansion and limped towards the crowd, looking back as she ran.

Run two steps, fall once...

At midnight, under the moat, lanterns were lit, eerie and mysterious, with the word "Dian" written on them. The people laughed and danced, paying tribute to the unknown dead, each one looking like a ghost.

Fu Tong'er whispered as she ran: "Daddy... Mommy... Brother... Tong'er was wrong... Tong'er will come back to find you... Tong'er doesn't want him——"

With a thud, the skinny body fell into the thick snow...

The snow fell heavier and heavier, and this imperial city could no longer be peaceful.

Outside the city gate, a four-wheeled carriage was followed by a marching team of tens of thousands of soldiers. Each soldier held a long spear, wore a felt silver helmet, a padded jacket, and snow-white armor.

The grandeur is magnificent! The living stay away, the dead evade, and wherever it passes, the ice and snow melt, and warm orange lanterns light up...

Sitting quietly in the carriage was a man in his thirties.

His words are military orders.

His closed eyes are like sharp blades that can kill thousands of enemies!

His two thickly calloused hands not only struck fear into the hearts of his enemies on the battlefield, and not only had he plundered countless cities, but he also held the power of life and death over the Great Yan Empire, and countless lifelines! He was the regent of the Great Yan Dynasty, "Nine Lord"!

Now that the Ninth Master has returned to the court, the heavy snow in the imperial city is likely to continue.

The carriage was still moving, and the two brown Arabian horses in front were led by the two cavalry generals Youli and Youyi.

Suddenly, a soldier in front shouted: "Look, there is a person lying there!"

The accompanying deputy general, Xiao Pu, immediately galloped to the front of the team upon hearing the news. After taking a look, he pulled the reins and went back to the carriage window.

He respectfully reported to the person behind the curtain: "Master Jiu, a girl has fainted up ahead. Should we stop the car?"

Snowflakes fell on Xiaopu's felt helmet.

At this moment, a deep and mellow voice, a voice of a veteran, came from the carriage: "Stop."

Xiao Pu clasped his fists again and said firmly, "Yes!" Then, he shouted, "Master Jiu has ordered us to stop the car!"

Upon receiving the order, the carriage stopped where it was.

In the icy snow, a girl, so thinly dressed that she could barely breathe, lay in the ground, a thin layer of snow covering her body. Her white undergarment outlined her slender and delicate curves.

"Someone bring me here." said the voice in the car.

Xiao Pu hesitated. What if it was an assassin who wanted to kill Jiu Ye? What if it was sent by the emperor? However, military orders were as strong as mountains, so he responded with a "yes!"

"You two carry her over here!" Xiao Pu ordered loudly.

The two leading soldiers responded with a fist salute, then immediately walked over and carried the girl, who was covered with a thin layer of snow, to the front of the carriage.

"Master Jiu! The person has been brought here!"

The carriage curtain was lifted, and in the dim night, a mature man with a powerful aura sat inside.

He was as tall as a mountain, wearing layers of snow armor, a silver helmet made of black fox felt, a fur rope tied around his neck, and a noble black fox short fur cloak with gold and purple python. He sat upright with deep and dark eyes.

His arms were as strong as steel, like a demon on earth. His lips were slightly pursed, and his face was strong and powerful. His legs were firmly planted, his face was calm, and he was intimidating without even getting angry.

The momentum stopped the biting cold wind, the air condensed, and in an instant, righteousness and murderous aura surged into the world at the same time.

He said calmly, "Bring it up. Put it here."

The team continued to move forward, and the snow was falling...

It was warmer in the carriage than outside.

The girl gradually regained her breath——

Fu Tong'er was rescued.

She closed her eyes, breathing weakly, her whole body numb from the cold, and she shivered constantly...

Lu Zhenzhi glanced at her, reached out to untie his cloak, and covered her with it. He then felt her forehead to confirm that she did not have a fever, then he opened the carriage curtain and said to Xiao Pu, who was accompanying him outside, "Ask Doctor Zhao to accompany me into the palace."

"Yes!" Xiaopu responded with a fist, pulled the reins, turned the horse around, and ran backwards.

The carriage moved steadily through the quiet alleys in the snowy night. Different from here was the bustle of the city moat bridge, where men, women, and children were lighting lanterns.

Their movements were stiff, their expressions were monotonous, and they wore identical smiles as they danced a strange memorial dance beside the moat of the imperial city.

Fu Tong'er opened her eyes slightly, but saw an unfamiliar space and unfamiliar air. Only a familiar breath came from above her head.

When Lu Zhenzhi was closing his eyes to rest, Fu Tong'er, who was lying beside him, suddenly turned over and rolled down, her big eyes hazy and stained with tears.

Deputy General Xiao Pu tapped the window with his knuckles and asked, "Master Jiu, what happened?"

Lu Zhenzhi looked at the girl who was so cold that she wrapped herself in a fox fur cloak again and again, and a feeling of pity quietly arose in his heart.

This feeling is very subtle.

He killed countless enemies! His hands were stained with blood!

I actually developed a protective urge...

The man closed his eyes again, trying to suppress the feeling.

The girl had a pair of big, watery eyes on her tired and thin face, and tears were still on her cheeks. It looked like she had been bullied.

"Master Jiu?" Deputy General Xiaopu outside knocked again.

"Nothing." Lu Zhenzhi's gaze stayed on the girl and he answered calmly.

Fu Tong'er wrapped herself in his thick fox fur cloak and crawled to Lu Zhenzhi's feet with difficulty. Many memories that did not belong to her appeared in her mind.

She looked at the armored man in front of her again, hugged his thighs with great effort, and begged: "Uncle, save me, please... save me..."

At this moment, Xiao Pu's voice came from outside: "Master Jiu! King Hui's guard!"

Soon, Fu Tong'er heard a familiar voice coming from outside. It was King Hui!

Fear, dread, and shivering made Fu Tong'er like a weak little bird.

"Ninth Prince! You've returned to the capital! Why choose this time? If the Emperor knew you were back, he would definitely invite you into the palace for a few drinks. Ninth Prince, did you see a girl running towards us from the moat?"

Ninth Imperial Uncle? Is this the Ninth Imperial Uncle of King Hui?

Isn't that walking into the tiger's mouth again?

Fu Tong'er kept shaking...

Lu Zhenzhi still silently lowered his gaze towards Fu Tong'er in the carriage. He saw her wrapping herself tightly in his thick black velvet cloak while hugging one of his legs and shaking her head, whispering, "Uncle, please, save... save me."

uncle?

Uncle...

Lu Zhenzhi couldn't help but frown, thinking, "Is this king that old?" However, he wasn't angry. Under normal circumstances, who would dare to call him uncle?

Or, the Regent...

Or, Master Jiu!

Lu Zhenzhi lifted the curtain, looked the person outside up and down, and asked coldly: "What does he look like?"
