King Hui followed Fu Tong'er's sedan chair all the way, and kept talking: "You insisted on spending this money, and then you cried when I didn't give it to you. It's so annoying to see you crying so early in the morning."
The two sedan bearers in front and behind felt that King Hui was being too talkative, so they quickened their pace.
Fu Tong'er closed her eyes, covered her ears, and thought of Master Jiu: his appearance, his voice, his palms covered with thick calluses, the thickness and warmth of his dark black fox cloak...
King Hui rode his horse forward and talked endlessly, but he didn't get any response from Fu Tong'er, as if there was no one in the sedan chair.
He raised his hand and the side curtain was blown open by the wind.
Fu Tong'er glanced at him sideways and continued to hold her body and shiver.
"Can you please have a word with me?"
Fu Tong'er turned her back.
Not far away, a group of soldiers from the Regent's Palace broke into Prince Hui's Palace to arrest people.
When they reached the north gate of the palace, Fu Tong'er got out of the sedan chair, gave the silver, stepped over the sedan chair poles, and walked toward the palace gate. King Hui dismounted and followed Fu Tong'er, leading his white pony.
Seeing this, several guards knelt down and clasped their fists, saying, "Your Highness Prince Hui! Your Highness Princess Hui!"
When Fu Tong'er heard the words "Her Royal Highness Princess Hui", her body shuddered and her steps quickened.
When King Hui saw this, he became even angrier.
After entering the palace, King Hui followed quickly behind, leading his horse and shouting, "Are you really going to divorce me?"
Fu Tong'er gritted her teeth and sped up again, enduring the severe pain in her knee, guessing that the wound had been rubbed open again.
"You don't even want to go with me?"
"Fu Tong'er! Say something! Fu Tong'er!"
"Hiss..." Fu Tong'er covered her knees and fell on the steps in unbearable pain.
King Hui held the reins with one hand, folded his arms, and stood beside the horse, saying, "I told you to walk so fast! Do you need me to support you?"
"No need." Fu Tong'er held the carved beam of the palace with one hand, and the other hand could only hang down because it was wrapped in bandages, and slowly stood up.
Unexpectedly, his foot slipped and his body leaned forward. Then, due to the unstable gravity, he rolled down the stairs...
King Hui was frightened and dropped the reins, ran over to stop Fu Tong'er, and then picked her up horizontally, his eyes full of worry and fear: "Tong'er..."
Fu Tong'er couldn't bear to see this face, so she closed her eyes and said coldly: "Let me go!"
King Hui snorted coldly and carried Fu Tong'er to the Hall of Supreme Harmony.
"Put me down! Do you hear me? Put me down! Don't touch me!"
"Fu Tong'er, don't test my patience so early in the morning! Aren't you asking for a divorce? My father should be reviewing memorials right now. I'm telling you, it's not too late to regret now! When you get to my father, he'll be furious if you mention divorce. Just try it if you don't believe me."
"I want you to let me down! I can walk on my own! Why are you pretending to be so kind? Which of my injuries wasn't inflicted by you, Your Highness?"
"If you don't act like a demon, will I beat you? Will I order my men to beat you? If you listen to me obediently, won't I favor you?"
As he said that, he carried Fu Tong'er into the hall.
The emperor was working at his desk reviewing documents, with Eunuch Xia standing beside him and two palace maids behind him.
When Eunuch Xia saw Prince Hui and Fu Tong'er, he crouched down and whispered to the emperor, "Your Majesty, Prince Hui and his princess are here."
After hearing this, the emperor raised his head slightly and glanced at the Grand Prince, saying, "Why did the Twelfth Prince bring the princess into the palace?"
King Hui put Fu Tong'er down and bowed with both hands, saying, "Your son and daughter-in-law come to pay their respects to your father. Your daughter-in-law must divorce you today."
"Ridiculous!" The emperor dropped the brush in his hand heavily, and the ink splashed all over the dark marble floor.
