Chapter 99 "Come here, I admit my mistake"

Since that day, the old imperial physician from the palace came to the mansion every day. In just half a month, Prince Chun's mansion had spent no less than a hundred taels of silver.

Lu Zhenzhi had the old imperial physician prescribe the best elixirs in the palace, and ordered the chefs in the palace to prepare various medicinal porridges. Every day, Lu Zhenzhi personally fed her acupuncture, medication, and porridge. If she couldn't swallow, Lu Zhenzhi would drink it himself and then feed her. After half a month of this, Imperial Physician Jiang said, "This little girl's condition has stabilized, but she can't be stimulated anymore. Otherwise, she won't live to be ten years old. Now we just have to wait for her to wake up, and continue to take the medicine and keep up with the nutrition."

Qiao'er also thought that it was fortunate that she was in Jiu Ye's mansion and that this master had no shortage of money. In the future, the young lady's health would really have to be taken care of with Jiu Ye's money.

Lu Zhenzhi had all the memorials sent from the palace delivered to Fu Tong'er's side chamber. For several days, he sat on the soft couch in the inner chamber, constantly reviewing memorials from all over the country. As a result, the emperor became increasingly indifferent to state affairs.

More than ten days later, Fu Tong'er, who was in a coma and had nightmares, suddenly woke up hazily at midnight. She slowly opened her eyes, and the warm orange light allowed her to see the tired body of Jiu Ye sitting on the couch opposite her.

There was a mountain of memorials piled up on the side... Lu Zhenzhi seemed to be using the small tea table on the couch as a desk.

The Ninth Master actually moved the court affairs to her inner chamber to handle them! Fu Tong'er lifted the quilt, slowly stood up, took the man's fox fur cloak and gently covered him with it. Her hand couldn't help but reach out to touch the scar on the back of his hand.

"Thank you for your hard work." Fu Tong'er murmured softly, taking the pen from his hand, and then stood quietly by the side, watching. It had been a long time since she had looked at him so carefully as she did now. She still forgave him...

Lu Zhenzhi wasn't sleeping deeply. Noticing the warmth of the fox fur coat behind him and the light blocked from view, he slowly raised his head. With wrinkled eyelids and a weary gaze, he caught sight of Fu Tong'er staring at him intently. This girl, after all these days of coma, finally woke up!

"Girl." Lu Zhenzhi's tone was full of fatigue.

Fu Tong'er turned around and was about to leave when the man grabbed her wrist.

"Master Jiu, please let go."

Lu Zhenzhi stared at Fu Tong'er's stubborn back for a while, then let go of her hand, walked down, and sat down on the edge of Fu Tong'er's bed. He looked up at her, but she still turned her back... Then he smiled faintly, bent down to take off his shoes, socks, and clothes, and finally put on a dark-colored undershirt. He sat down in the quilt, opened the inside of the quilt, patted it, and said:

"Turn off the lights and come here."

Fu Tong'er said: "I'm going to sleep outside."

"Come here!" Lu Zhenzhi said in a more serious tone. Then he slowed down and became gentler, coaxing a child. "It's so cold outside, where are you going?"

"It's getting late. I have to go to court tomorrow."

Fu Tong'er turned around, grabbed the collar of her dress with both hands, and pulled it off, revealing her small green bellyband. Her delicate skin was covered in blue and purple bite marks. These were all marks left by Lu Zhenzhi after he drank that day.

Lu Zhenzhi: “…”

"Master Jiu is thinking about Tong'er's body again?"

Lu Zhenzhi looked at his "masterpiece," recalled his actions that day in the military camp, and remembered the old imperial physician's words: "You can't be stimulated again, otherwise you won't be able to live for more than ten years." He felt extremely regretful! Then, he stood up in his clogs and walked over to put Fu Tong'er's clothes on. He took her in his arms, turned off the lights, and then took her to the bedside and helped her sit down. Fu Tong'er took off her shoes, got on the bed, and lay down on the inside with her back to Jiu Ye.

In the darkness, Lu Zhenzhi climbed onto the bed, closed his eyes, and pondered, "Girl, how long do you intend to continue this cold war with me?"

Fu Tong'er heard this and moved further away. The inside of the quilt was cold. Fu Tong'er's body was already weak, and now she was curled up in a ball, shivering with cold. Even so, she would never turn around and fall into the man's arms.

Lu Zhenzhi glanced at her, reached under the quilt to find Fu Tong'er's arm, and said, "You're shivering from the cold and you won't come over?"

Fu Tong'er remained silent, still hugging herself, her body trembling constantly, her teeth chattering from the cold.

"Come here, I admit my mistake."

"Wrong... what's wrong?" Fu Tong'er was so cold that her words were incoherent.

"..." Lu Zhenzhi was speechless for a moment. What had gone wrong? Perhaps the decision to let her go to the training ground to watch the battle was wrong. But one thing after another, it seemed like there were quite a few mistakes.

Fu Tong'er shook off Jiu Ye's hand and continued to stay alone.

"You're all wrong." Lu Zhenzhi said, and then he turned sideways, pulled Fu Tong'er from the cold place, brought her to him, and hugged her in his arms. "Are you still cold?"

Fu Tong'er closed her eyes. It was such a familiar warmth. She couldn't help but lean into Lu Zhenzhi's arms, her hands resting on his chest for warmth. She leaned her head close to him, her body trembling.

Lu Zhenzhi raised his arm slightly, letting her hold him like this. This girl was stubborn on the surface, but once she hugged him, she wanted to stick to him. Looking at the little person keeping warm in his arms, Lu Zhenzhi lowered his arm and put it on her waist.

After warming up, Fu Tong'er asked, "Master Jiu is holding me. Won't your Lan'er, Hua'er, and Cao, who serve tea, get jealous?"
