Chapter 101 Eyes in the Dark
This was not Nie Yao's first time taking the subway in this city, but Nie Yao always felt something was strange. Ever since she got on the subway, she always felt that there was a pair of eyes staring at her not far behind her.
When she turned around to look, she found that the subway was crowded and she couldn't figure out who was looking at her!
Is it just an illusion?
Nie Yao shook her head in confusion, and when she arrived at the subway station, she followed the crowd and got off the train immediately. However, she felt that the pair of eyes staring at her did not go away, and even followed her all the way off the subway.
Nie Yao immediately became alert and deliberately walked towards the exit where there was a large crowd. Then she wandered around several popular shops outside the subway station for a few rounds before following the crowd out.
Intuitively, the gaze seemed to have disappeared, so Nie Yao quickened her pace, crossed an intersection, and walked into Nie's company building.
Because she was weaving in and out of the crowd and walking quickly afterwards, by the time Nie Yao arrived at the company, her head was covered in sweat and her hair was stuck to her ears, making her look a little disheveled.
She turned her head and glanced outside the company door. When she was sure that she had shaken off the person following her, she breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing a security guard at the company entrance, he smiled politely and said, "Hello, I'm here to look for someone. Please let me in—"
"Excuse me, ma'am, who are you looking for?" asked the security guard.
"I'm looking for Nie Ronghao..." Nie Yao gave her father's name. Upon hearing the name, the security guard immediately and kindly swiped her card for her. Then, with a smile, he said, "Wait, I'll take you to the front desk first. Our President Nie has a special status, so you need to confirm with the front desk before you see him!"
Nie Yao could only nod in agreement and followed the security guard to the front desk, where she explained her purpose. The receptionist looked her up and down and asked in a cold tone, "You're looking for Mr. Nie. Do you have an appointment? What time is it?"
"No..." Nie Yao shook her head.
"Without an appointment, do you think our boss, Mr. Nie, is just a freeloader who can be seen by anyone who wants?" The young receptionist snorted coldly and said unhappily, "Are you kidding me?"
"I'm not kidding, I'm here to see him..." Nie Yao didn't really want to reveal her identity, and remained polite as she said, "I just called him, and he said I could just come and see him. If you don't believe me, you can give him a call and ask!"
"Do you think our CEO Nie will answer any boring call? Even for such a trivial matter, you have to call him for instructions?"
The girl at the front desk curled her lips, glared at Nie Yao, and said to the security guard beside her, "You too, you let this guy in without even asking about his identity!"
The security guard was about to explain when Nie Yao picked up her phone and called her father to tell him that she had been stopped by the front desk.
"Give her your phone—" Father Nie raised his voice in anger when he heard that his daughter was stopped by the front desk.
Nie Yao handed the phone to the receptionist, who glared at her suspiciously. Just as she was about to speak, she heard Mr. Nie's deafening voice on the other end of the line.
"Who are you? Who is she? How dare you stop her? Hurry up and let her come up. If you're even a second late, you won't have to come to work tomorrow!"
"Mr. Nie, I don't know, and she didn't explain it clearly..." The girl at the front desk was so scared that her face turned pale, and her hand holding the phone was shaking.
"You, the receptionist, don't you have any sense at all?" Father Nie snorted coldly and shouted, "Give her the phone back and let her come up directly!"
