Chapter 1011: Not Afraid of Confrontation
Elder Nie was bewildered by what they said. He frowned and asked, "Ayao, what on earth is going on?"
Nie Yao told her grandfather everything she had just seen. Nie Jinxi was anxious to refute him, but seeing the serious look on Old Man Nie's face, she did not dare to speak casually.
After Nie Yao finished speaking, Old Nie's expression became much more serious. He said in a deep voice, "So there is such a thing..."
"Grandpa, it's not what Nie Yao said at all. She deliberately framed me!" Nie Jinxi clenched her fists and replied anxiously, "I didn't steal anything or rummage through the drawers. I just went in to get some tissues. I didn't sneak back in while you were away. I really came back to see you!"
At this point, she pointed at Nie Yao and gritted her teeth, "It was clearly her who was acting suspiciously. She was walking so cautiously that I almost got scared! Who knows what she was planning to do when Grandpa wasn't home?"
Facing her furious counterattack, Nie Yao was not anxious at all. She smiled faintly and replied, "Whether you touched my father's things or not, neither you nor I have the right to say anything more. We can only listen to my father's return!"
Elder Nie nodded slightly, agreeing with this statement, and said in a deep voice: "Okay, I'll call your father and ask him to come back now, and everything will be clear!"
Nie Yao nodded happily, raised an eyebrow and looked at Nie Jinxi, then asked with a smile, "Nie Jinxi, what do you think?"
"Hmph, I'm not afraid of confrontation. I didn't take anything anyway!" Nie Jinxi replied with a sneer, stiffening his neck.
After hearing what Nie Jinxi said, Mr. Nie asked Butler Lu to call Nie's father at the company and tell him that something happened at home and asked him to come back.
Father Nie had just finished a meeting when he heard the urgent call from Butler Lu. Remembering what A Yao had said before about not being able to get through to home, he thought something had happened to his father. He quickly packed up his things and left the company in a hurry, asking the driver to drive him back to the Nie family's old house.
When Father Nie came back and saw his father safe and sound, he finally breathed a sigh of relief. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and said with a mixture of laughter and tears, "Dad, I'm glad you're okay. The housekeeper was so anxious just now that I thought something had happened to you!"
"I'm fine..." Old Nie waved his hand and asked him to have some tea and rest first.
Father Nie took a sip of his teacup and realized that Nie Yao and Nie Jinxi were also in the living room. He couldn't help but ask in surprise, "Yao, Jinxi, why are you both here?"
"This is also the reason why I called you back!" Old Nie gestured to Nie's father to sit down, and briefly repeated what Nie Yao had just said in a light tone.
"A Yao said he saw Jin Xi enter your bedroom and suspected she took your things. Jin Xi said no, so I asked you to come back and check your room to see if anything is missing. If nothing is missing, that would be great, and Jin Xi would be innocent!"
After Old Man Nie finished speaking, he looked at his daughter, Nie Yao, with an inquiring look. Nie Yao nodded and whispered, "Dad, Grandpa is right. Go back and take inventory first. Remember, count carefully!"
Father Nie cast another suspicious glance at Nie Jinxi, but Nie Jinxi refused to compromise and stubbornly replied, "I didn't take anything, uncle. If you don't believe me, go check it yourself!"
Father Nie frowned slightly, went upstairs to his room, and began to count his things.
Nie Yao, Nie Jinxi and Old Man Nie all stayed in the living room downstairs, waiting for Nie's father to come down.
