Chapter 1321: Same Goal
Vanessa's face darkened as she glanced coldly at Nie Yao. She didn't back down in the face of Steve's ridicule, but replied with a sneer, "Okay, if there really is a mummy in the underground palace, I will definitely find it. But by then, I'm afraid some people will scream with fear!"
"If you have the ability to find it out, I won't be afraid. I'm just afraid that you can only talk big!" Steve responded without giving in.
Vanessa smiled noncommittally, turned and left.
Steve was pissed off at Vanessa. Seeing she finally left, he curled his lips and said to Nie Yao, who was drinking coffee, "Senior, look at this woman. She's so arrogant. She acts like she's sure to find a mummy!"
"Steve, you shouldn't have provoked her just now. You know what kind of personality she has..." Nie Yao put down the coffee in her hand and comforted him with a smile.
"How could I be provocative? She was the one who started it!" Steve frowned slightly and muttered in dissatisfaction, "Senior, why are you speaking up for her?"
"Steve, I'm not speaking for her, but it's a good thing she's so motivated. Maybe she can actually find the mummy sooner!"
Nie Yao shrugged, stood up, patted Steve's shoulder, and said with a smile: "Steve, okay, you don't have to be so serious with her. Now all of our goals are the same, which is to find all the artifacts in the underground palace. Do you understand?"
"I understand..." Steve nodded honestly and whispered, "Senior, you have a broader perspective. I'm more magnanimous and won't bother with a woman like her! She'll look for her mummy, and we'll continue looking for ours... Who knows who'll find more by then!"
Hearing Steve's muttering, Nie Yao also laughed. She took the thermos of coffee and got in the car with Steve to head to the archaeological base.
Because important weapons and cultural relics were unearthed in the underground palace the day before, protection at the site has been strengthened, and even the number of guards has been doubled.
When Nie Yao and his group arrived at the scene, they looked around and whispered to the leading guard captain, who was holding a gun, "There was no movement here last night, right?"
"No--"
Nie Yao finally felt relieved and said to the guard captain with a smile, "Thank you for your hard work..."
"Miss Nie, there's no need to be so polite. We are just following orders from above. We know this archaeological site is of great significance, so we will definitely protect it!"
The captain of the guard waved his hand and smiled modestly. He paused and added, "Our superiors have already said that tomb robbers must not succeed in gaining access to the ruins here. If Miss Nie needs anything, please let us know. We can send someone down to the underground palace with you to protect your archaeological team at all times!"
Nie Yao smiled and nodded, thanking him. "Thank you, you're so thoughtful. But there's nothing unsafe underground. We've brought professional equipment with us, and we all trust each other, so don't worry!"
Hearing Nie Yao say this, the captain of the guard smiled and nodded without saying anything else.
Steve was still discussing with other team members the areas in the underground palace that would be surveyed today. Seeing Nie Yao coming over after chatting with the captain of the guard, he opened the map of the underground palace and reported the results of the discussion to Nie Yao.
"Senior, we went to these places yesterday. Do you think we should follow the order today?"
Nie Yao lowered her head and looked at the locations in the underground palace that Steve had marked with serial numbers. She raised her eyebrows and asked with a smile, "Steve, did you arrange these serial numbers by yourself?"
