Chapter 1422 The Priest's Purpose

Chapter 1422 The Priest's Purpose

"It's not surprising. In the past, the indigenous people were able to find water sources in the desert and dig wells. So it's understandable that they were able to find the water source and bring it here..." Nie Yao explained with a faint smile.

Steve also thought it made sense, patted the back of his head and laughed: "Yeah, I almost forgot that!"

He looked at the two streams and asked hesitantly, "But, Senior, since this underground palace was built by the priest Senmut, why did he divert these two streams into it? What if Queen Hatshepsut's mummy is inside? Isn't he afraid of damaging it?"

"I'm also wondering about his purpose..."

Nie Yao lowered his head and looked at it quietly for a moment, then murmured softly, "Priest Senmut would never do anything that would harm his beloved female pharaoh. Then, this flowing water couldn't possibly corrode the female pharaoh's sarcophagus. So there are only two possibilities!"

"Which two?" Steve asked curiously.

"Or, this flowing water could be part of a mechanism he set up. The flowing water could trigger the mechanism and then open a secret room!"

Nie Yao squatted down and pointed at the gurgling water and said, "Look, this is not stagnant water, this is running water. Since it is running water, it can rise or fall!"

"Yeah, why didn't I think of that!" Steve suddenly realized, his eyes widened and he said excitedly to Nie Yao, "Senior, you're so smart. You actually thought that this flowing water might be a mechanism!"

Nie Yao smiled noncommittally and continued, "Another possibility is that these streams were originally used to transport things. After all, it's not easy to get so many things into such a large underground palace! But if it was used to transport things, this excavated passage seems a bit narrow..."

"Well, I still think it might be related to the mechanism!" Steve nodded in agreement. He wanted to reach out and touch the flowing water, but was stopped by Nie Yao.

"Wait, we're not sure if this water is poisonous or not, don't touch it with your hands!"

Nie Yao took out a small water bottle from the bag, put on gloves, and then carefully filled the flowing water into the water bottle, and whispered: "Fill this part of the water first, and then take it back for testing!"

Steve nodded in response. After Nie Yao finished filling the water bottle, Steve smiled and said, "Senior, let me carry the water bottle. You have a lot of equipment, so you won't get too tired!"

Nie Yao handed him the kettle and told him to pack it up. Then the two of them got up and continued walking forward. However, as they walked, they found that there was no road ahead.

There was only a circular open space with some ancient Egyptian characters carved on it, which seemed to be an altar...

"That's strange..." Steve frowned slightly, walked around the circular open space, and said puzzledly: "I thought there would be a secret room, why does it look empty at the end, with only an altar?"

Nie Yao also studied the circular altar and couldn't find any place that looked like it had a mechanism. She could only leave here with Steve and find another way out.

They left the circular altar and found another curved path. Following this path, they found a secret room. It seemed that the secret room was at the end in another direction.

"Steve, take out the detector!" Nie Yao finished speaking. Steve quickly took out the detector and probed the secret room. When he heard the detector beeping, he said happily, "Senior sister, there is metal in there too!"
