Chapter 3 A Little Effort
"I didn't save you for any reward, it was just a small favor!" Nie Yao shrugged, poured him a glass of water, and handed it to him with a smile: "Of course, you're lucky to have run into us. The wind and sand in the Emperor Valley are so strong today that it's very likely you'll be buried!"
The man drank the water silently, a cold light flashed in his eyes, but he did not answer her.
"By the way, what's your name? Why did you get injured and run to the Emperor Valley?" The heat on Nie Yao's face subsided, and he asked curiously again.
"Li Jinxing, was ambushed..." The man replied indifferently, unwilling to say more, and changed the subject: "What about you? Are you a doctor?"
"My name is Nie Yao, but I'm more used to people calling me Ivy. I'm not a doctor, I'm a graduate student in the archaeology department..." Nie Yao introduced herself with a smile.
Li Jinxing looked at her with a hint of surprise in his eyes, and asked thoughtfully, "An archaeology graduate student also has such skilled medical skills?"
"It can be considered as some survival skills for field archaeology!" Nie Yao shrugged, a proud smile on her face: "My adoptive father said that if you can't even save yourself, then it will be difficult to continue archaeology..."
Li Jinxing nodded slightly, but read some information from her words.
The Nie family...is it the Nie family he knows?
But among the children of the Nie family, he had never heard of anyone working as an archaeologist, and it was impossible for them to have an adoptive father...
"Do you know..." Li Jinxing was about to ask when Nie Yao's cell phone rang.
She glanced at the incoming call, apologized to Li Jinxing, and walked aside to answer the call: "Hello, Ivy, it's me——"
"Dad, what are your instructions?"
"Ivy, the wind and sand are so strong over there, so we've suspended our archaeological work. Come to my office, I have something urgent to discuss with you—"
"But I still have something to do here..." Nie Yao glanced at Li Jinxing who was still leaning on the bed and said hesitantly.
Before she could finish her words, the person on the other end of the phone said unhappily: "Nothing is bigger than what I said. Come over quickly, Steve will pick you up!"
Nie Yao could only nod in agreement helplessly, and said to Li Jinxing apologetically: "Sorry, my adoptive father needs to see me for something, you stay here, my friend Steve will come to take care of you..."
Li Jinxing nodded slightly and watched Nie Yao grab the phone and leave in a hurry. He moved out of bed with difficulty, covering his injured lower abdomen, picked up his coat, pressed the lining three times, and sent his coordinate information.
While waiting to make his move, Li Jinxing looked around the somewhat simple camp and his eyes fell on a painting in the corner of the table.
He slowly walked to the table, picked up the stack of drawing papers, and flipped through them one by one. Looking at the various lifelike sketches of Egyptian culture on them, he couldn't help but laugh softly.
This woman really has a pair of skillful hands... Turning to the last painting, a small sachet fell out with the word "Yao" embroidered on it.
Li Jinxing picked up the sachet and smelled it. There was no fragrance, but looking at the exquisite pattern on it, the corners of his lips curled up slightly, and he finally stuffed the sachet into his suit pocket.
In archaeologist Fred's office, Nie Yao was looking at a man in a suit.
"Dad, the urgent matter you mentioned means you want me to see him?" Nie Yao looked coldly at the strange man in front of her, curled her lips and asked back unhappily.
