Chapter 396 Let Time Prove

Chapter 396 Let Time Prove

After an unknown amount of time, Nie Yao slowly spoke, "I understand, Li Jinxing... I just feel that since we haven't been together long enough, we might still be immersed in the filters we have for each other, judging everything by what we see. But one day in the future, when those filters slowly break down, you'll realize that I'm actually quite selfish, only caring about enjoying your kindness to me but never thinking about helping you. I'm simply not the right partner for you!"

"Who said you haven't helped me?" Li Jinxing laughed dumbly, shook his head and whispered a reminder: "Not to mention that you saved my life, the research on my heirloom and the clues to the group of people hiding behind and eyeing me covetously, didn't we all rely on you?"

"But..." Nie Yao lowered her head and said with some guilt, "I feel like I've failed miserably. I still haven't discovered the secret behind your heirloom. I can't determine which ancient Egyptian royal family it came from, and I can't help you find the murderer behind it!"

"There's no rush for these things. We'll find out the truth one day!" Li Jinxing shook his head, held her chin, and smiled comfortingly, "As for the filter you mentioned, I'm not someone who's experienced it, so I can't explain it clearly. So let time slowly prove it, what do you say?"

Nie Yao met his earnest and focused gaze, her heart filled with inexplicable emotions. In the end, she nodded and smiled with relief.

"You're right. No one can prove it. Only time can prove everything!"

Li Jinxing raised the corners of his lips slightly, smoothed her hair, and chuckled softly, "Tell me, who said you were selfish?"

Nie Yao didn't answer, but Li Jinxing had already thought of something. He raised his eyebrows and asked, "Did the housekeeper tell you something?"

Nie Yao didn't want Li Jinxing to question the housekeeper who had followed him for a long time for such a small matter. He didn't know how to answer for a moment and could only look out the window.

Just then, she saw a somewhat familiar figure walking out of the community. She quickly widened her eyes and looked over, and sure enough, she saw a middle-aged man walking out of the community gate.

"Look, isn't that my second uncle?" Nie Yao grabbed Li Jinxing and pointed at the man who left the community and asked.

Li Jinxing also turned his head to look over. After seeing the man's face clearly, his brows knitted together slightly. He nodded and replied in a deep voice, "Yes, it is indeed your second uncle!"

"It seems my guess was right. Nie Jinxi's mother really lives in this neighborhood. No wonder she quietly drove here alone at night..."

Nie Yao snorted coldly, and seeing that her second uncle seemed to be walking towards the direction where their car was parked, she was afraid that her second uncle would notice something, so she quickly hugged Li Jinxing and put her mouth against his.

Li Jinxing quickly understood what she meant. He grabbed the back of her head and lowered his head to kiss her lips.

Originally it was just an act, but Nie Yao didn't expect Li Jinxing to make it real. She put one hand on his chest, but he held it tightly in his arms, and her breath was taken away by him.

Nie Guanglin, the second son of the Nie family, glanced around the car and saw only two blurry figures who seemed to be getting intimate. He shrugged and sneered, and without thinking much, he got into his car and quickly drove away from this high-end community.

After an unknown amount of time, Li Jinxing finally let Nie Yao go. He glanced out the window, chuckled, and said, "Well, your second uncle is gone..."

Nie Yao's breathing was still a little unstable. She glared at him in feigned anger and subconsciously looked out the window.
