Chapter 6: The Former Young Lady
Butler Lu, who was beside Nie Yao, also heard the discussions clearly. He paused and whispered comfortingly, "Miss, don't take their words to heart..."
Nie Yao shrugged nonchalantly and sneered, "Uncle Lu, I don't care what they think of me. I came back just to recognize my relatives, to see my grandfather and my biological father, and then I'll be gone soon..."
"Miss, now that you're back, you can't just leave like this. The master said he'll arrange a welcome dinner for you next week and invite all your acquaintances to attend so he can properly introduce you to everyone!"
As Butler Lu finished speaking, Nie Yao frowned slightly: "Welcome dinner? There's no need to be so exaggerated..."
"This is a joint decision between the master and your father. You've been stranded for over a decade, and now that we've finally found you, of course we have to celebrate it in a big way!"
Butler Lu said this, pointing to the front and saying, "This is the room I've arranged for you..."
Nie Yao nodded, and as they passed a room with a closed door, she asked curiously, "What about this room? Is no one living in it?"
"This room was once where the eldest daughter lived..." Butler Lu hesitated for a moment and answered in a low voice.
"The former eldest daughter?" Nie Yao raised an eyebrow and asked with a half-smile, "Is she the fake daughter who replaced me and served as the eldest daughter of the Nie family for more than ten years?"
Housekeeper Lu nodded and answered cautiously, "She has moved back to the school now. After all, she was raised in the Nie family for more than ten years and had developed feelings for her. Besides, it would be embarrassing to make this matter public, so the master decided to keep her. Your father also meant the same thing..."
Nie Yao curled up the corners of her lips in a slight sneer, thinking that this fake daughter was so lucky that even though the truth had been revealed, she could still stay in this family!
But what Butler Lu said made sense. After all, they had lived together for more than ten years and had a deep relationship, so he probably wouldn't be willing to kick her out!
"If that's the case, why didn't I see her today?" Nie Yao asked casually.
"The master was worried that you would feel uncomfortable after seeing her, so he didn't let her come back from school..."
"Grandpa is so thoughtful..." Nie Yao said with a faint smile.
"Actually, the master is really excited to have you back. He keeps asking you to come home every day..." Housekeeper Lu was afraid that she might harbor resentment towards Old Master Nie, so he quickly explained with a smile, "This agarwood bracelet for you was something someone else had been asking for for a long time, but he couldn't bear to part with it. Now, I'm giving it to you, Miss..."
"It's so expensive, I can't afford it..." Nie Yao sighed lightly and followed Butler Lu to the room arranged for her.
"Miss, this is your room. If you need anything, just tell me!"
Nie Yao thanked him politely and waited for the diligent butler to leave before putting down her backpack and looking around the huge room.
The decoration seems too gorgeous, with lace and embroidery elements everywhere. Even the shape of the dressing table looks like a princess suite in a fairy tale movie.
Nie Yao shook her head, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. She knew that her grandfather and father probably prepared such a princess-style room for her in order to make up for the lack of family affection over the past ten years!
Even the bathroom was oversized, no less than an executive suite in a five-star hotel.
Nie Yao simply took a comfortable hot bath, opened the wardrobe, and saw that it was full of exquisite suits, which were similar in style to her stepdaughter named Lin Anqi. She shook her head and found a casual sports suit to change into.
When opening her backpack to sort out documents, Nie Yao saw a pile of her drawings and thought of the man she had saved. She picked up a pencil, sat down at the table and began to sketch his appearance.
