Chapter 715: The Welcoming Ceremony
"Don't worry, I'll make a call first to see if the person in charge of the Egyptian liaison has arrived!" Professor Fred said this, picked up his mobile phone and made a call.
Li Jinxing and Nie Yao also began to check their carry-on luggage to make sure nothing was left out. Steve, meanwhile, looked out the window and pointed at the waiting convoy, exclaiming, "Look, that must be them arriving! What a grand spectacle!"
Nie Yao and Li Jinxing also looked in the direction of his finger, and saw that there were indeed several cars parked outside the airport gate. Each car had an Egyptian flag on it, and the first and last car were military vehicles with the Egyptian national emblem printed on them. Several soldiers were standing outside with guns in their hands, looking heroic.
"Dad, their people have arrived. It seems that they came to the airport in advance to wait for our arrival!" Nie Yao retracted his gaze and whispered to his adoptive father, Professor Fred, who was still on the phone.
Professor Fred nodded and said something to the person on the other end of the phone before hanging up. He smiled and said, "Now that their contact has arrived, we can go down!"
The cabin door opened, and several of Li Jinxing's accompanying bodyguards got off the plane first carrying their suitcases. Then Steve supported Professor Fred and slowly walked down, followed by Nie Yao and Li Jinxing.
The group responsible for picking them up had already walked over. The one leading them was obviously an official from the archaeological department. He smiled politely at Professor Fred and said, "Hello, Professor Fred. We have been ordered to pick you up at the airport..."
When he said this, he extended his hand to Professor Fred and shook it, then his eyes fell on the people behind Professor Fred. After just a quick glance, he fixed his gaze on Li Jinxing.
"Mr. Li, right? I heard that you had previously communicated with our director and were willing to return the cultural relics to us?"
Li Jinxing nodded slightly, smiled faintly and replied: "Yes, it's me..."
"Nice to meet you—" The official from the Archaeology Department quickly extended his hand to Li Jinxing and said with a smile, "On behalf of our entire Cultural Relics Department, I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Li for his awareness and dedication!"
Li Jinxing smiled faintly and didn't say much, just shook hands with him politely.
The official from the Archaeology and Cultural Relics Department politely shook hands with Nie Yao and Steve, then pointed to an officer behind him and introduced him to Nie Yao and his group with a smile, "This is Ted. He's from the military. Our Cultural Relics Department specially arranged this for you. He's responsible for your personal safety during this period!"
The officer named Ted saluted Nie Yao, Li Jinxing and his group and said in a deep voice, "We have arranged protection measures for you. Please get in the car—"
Nie Yao and Li Jinxing looked at each other, nodded in understanding, and walked towards the convoy together with Steve and Professor Fred, led by the official from the archaeological department.
Steve and Professor Fred sat in the front car, Nie Yao, Li Jinxing and their accompanying bodyguards Jiashan and Chris sat in the second car, and the rest of the people sat in the cars at the back. The military vehicle in the front started first, and then the neat convoy slowly drove away from the airport.
Nie Yao looked out the window, seeing the familiar road sign, and couldn't help but sigh to Li Jinxing, "I was doing archaeological work in Egypt when I was called back to meet my relatives. I thought I would be back soon, but it took so long..."
