Chapter 837 Kneeling Ceremony
Nie Yao saw at a glance that the pattern on the papyrus was exactly the same as their cultural relic, and her eyes widened in surprise.
She subconsciously looked at Li Jinxing, who frowned slightly, feeling a bit wary. He asked in a low voice, "Yaoyao, how come these indigenous people have paintings of cultural relics? Are they in cahoots with the gang of criminals who covet cultural relics?"
"If they were really accomplices, they could have simply left us to die in the Sahara Desert at night without saving us!"
Nie Yao felt that things were not that simple. She shook her head and whispered, "Li Jinxing, don't be nervous. Let me ask first!"
Li Jinxing nodded slightly. Nie Yao pointed at the pattern on the papyrus and asked the Aboriginal couple in a deep voice, "Where did this painting come from? Do you know anything about this artifact?"
"This artifact is called the Key of Rebirth..." The native sighed and explained in a quiet voice, "It was designed by Her Majesty Queen Bihat, the priest Senmut, personally. It was later passed on to the Queen's descendants, and disappeared for many years without anyone noticing!"
"The key to rebirth?" Nie Yao slowly repeated these words, looking at the Aboriginal couple in front of her in disbelief. She asked hesitantly, "Why do you know so much?"
"Because our ancestor was the craftsman who helped Priest Senmut to cast this thing!"
When the Aboriginal couple said this, they stood up excitedly and wanted to salute Nie Yao, their voices trembling.
"Our people have been guarding this secret in the desert for many years. I never thought I would meet you here today!"
As the couple spoke, they were about to kneel down and kowtow to Nie Yao. Nie Yao quickly bent down and helped them up, shaking her head and smiling bitterly, saying, "You don't have to do this. I'm only in charge of the archaeological work. This artifact isn't mine..."
The couple looked at Nie Yao with confusion. Nie Yao shrugged and pointed at Li Jinxing beside her, explaining to the couple, "The cultural relics are his. They are also his heirlooms!"
The couple immediately turned to Li Jinxing and once again knelt and bowed before him, muttering to themselves, "Thank you, God Amon, and our ancestors, for allowing us to find the descendants of Her Majesty the Queen! Your Highness, please accept our greeting!"
Li Jinxing didn't understand and could only look at them blankly, then stood up to help them up.
Seeing them kneeling before him and refusing to stand up, Li Jinxing could only helplessly say to Nie Yao, "Yaoyao, what's wrong with them? Why are they doing this big kneeling ceremony for no reason?"
"Li Jinxing, they are saying that you are a descendant of Her Majesty Queen Hatshepsut. They are calling you Her Highness, so you must salute!"
Nie Yao explained slowly and solemnly, word by word. Li Jinxing was horrified and shook his head in disbelief, saying, "This is impossible..."
"I'm not lying to you. That's what they said. And I don't think they're exaggerating, because their ancestors were the craftsmen who helped Priest Senmut create these artifacts!"
Nie Yao sighed softly, shook her head, and said in disbelief, "I thought these natives were descendants guarding a royal tomb, but I never imagined they were actually guarding such a huge secret! And it seems they've been waiting for the descendants of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut to appear, until you showed up!"
