Chapter 861 Rescue

Chapter 861 Rescue

Upon hearing this, Nie Yao subconsciously looked for Vanessa, only to see her standing aside, at a loss, her dusty face full of panic.

The scene was in chaos. No one came forward to comfort her, and of course no one bothered to blame her...

Perhaps noticing Nie Yao's gaze, Vanessa also looked over. When she met Nie Yao's sighing gaze, the panic on her face was immediately replaced by anger.

She glared at Nie Yao hatefully, then turned and left Nie Yao's sight.

Steve followed Nie Yao's gaze and saw that Vanessa was glaring at his senior with hatred. He said with a puzzled look on his face, "Is this Vanessa sick? If she hadn't been misleading the excavators, this wouldn't have happened. Now she's looking at us with resentment, as if we were the ones who caused her to be like this!"

Nie Yao retracted her gaze, shook her head, and whispered, "Never mind her. The most important thing now is to rescue these workers safely!"

Steve nodded in agreement, looked at the collapsed area, thought for a moment, and whispered, "Senior, I think there's still a gap. Air should be able to get in. Why don't we find a way to make the gap bigger and send food and water down!"

Nie Yao nodded in agreement and turned to discuss with the rescuers, but this step was not easy. After everyone discussed it, someone volunteered to step forward.

Nie Yao turned around and saw that the person who had volunteered was actually a desert native who had been assigned to the team. She asked worriedly, "Can you do it?"

"Don't worry, I've been down there before to dig a well, and I'm more familiar with these steps than many people!" The burly aboriginal patted his chest and answered without hesitation.

"Okay, then I'll leave it to you!" Nie Yao explained the situation to the rescue workers and the police on his behalf. Everyone agreed, and they began to tie ropes around the aboriginal man and slowly lowered him down.

The sky was getting darker and darker, and all the searchlights on the scene were on. The indigenous man held tools in his hands and dug a gap bit by bit, with beads of sweat dripping down his face.

Nie Yao and his group who were standing up there were also waiting anxiously. After an unknown amount of time, everyone finally heard voices coming from below and breathed a sigh of relief.

After confirming that only some of the people buried underneath were slightly injured and no one was missing, the rescue team felt relieved for the time being and began to deliver clean water and food little by little through the only gaps.

Time passed by minute by minute. The rescue team was stationed at the scene. A police officer saw Nie Yao and her team still there and whispered, "Miss Nie, you archaeologists should go back first. There's no point staying here..."

Nie Yao looked at the scene with concern and said hesitantly, "But they..."

"Aren't we still here? We will definitely rescue them..."

After the sheriff's advice, Steve, feeling tired and hungry, whispered to Nie Yao, "Yes, Senior Sister, there's nothing we can do if we stay here..."

Nie Yao thought for a moment and said to Steve, "Steve, please let the other members go back first. I have something to tell you!"

Seeing this, Steve didn't try to persuade her anymore. He just nodded and left the scene with the other team members.

Nie Yao observed the terrain with the help of the light and whispered to the remaining aborigines, "Since you have experience digging wells, do you have any good suggestions for rescuing them as soon as possible?"
