Chapter 415 Weird Request
Ji Minghuan frowned. He knew that some painters had strange personalities, but it was rare to see one make such a request!
After all, these emerging painters are not masters, and no one will refuse to sell their paintings at a good price, otherwise they would not come to this kind of exhibition!
Now the owner of this painting actually wants the buyer to answer correct questions before he is willing to sell it?
"Has the owner of this painting come today?" Nie Yao, who had originally had no interest in buying this painting, felt something was amiss after hearing what the person in charge said, and couldn't help but ask curiously.
The gallery director shook his head and politely explained, "No, in fact, we haven't even seen his true appearance. He asked the client to come here and put it up for sale in our gallery, but no one was interested before. This emerging art exhibition is a good opportunity, so we brought it here!"
"Since no one is interested, now that we are interested in it, we shouldn't do such weird things and ask questions!" Ji Minghuan said with a cold face and without any politeness.
"Sorry, we have a signed agreement with the client of this painting, so we can only do as instructed!" The gallery manager shrugged helplessly. Seeing Ji Minghuan's unhappy expression, he thought for a moment and smiled, "Mr. Ji, why don't you and your friends take a look at other paintings first?"
Ji Minghuan was about to nod in agreement. Since the owner of the painting was so disgusted, he didn't want to buy it at a high price and teach the other party a lesson.
But before he could agree, Nie Yao asked the person in charge, "You just said that the owner of the painting wanted others to answer his questions before he would sell it. So what questions did he raise?"
The gallery manager was stunned. He hadn't expected the beautiful woman beside Ji Shao to start taking the painting too seriously. Ji Minghuan, realizing that Nie Yao was genuinely interested in the painting, hurriedly urged the manager, "Yes, tell me, what tricky question did he ask? Does answering it correctly mean it can be sold?"
The gallery manager nodded and said cautiously, "In fact, he raised three questions!"
"Hurry up and tell me--" Ji Minghuan urged coldly.
The gallery manager gave the two of them an apologetic smile, took out a notebook from his pocket, slowly opened it, found one of the pages, and read out the question on it.
“The first question is, how was this painting created?”
Just as Ji Minghuan was about to complain, Nie Yao calmly said, "This painting is made of papyrus. It's made from papyrus picked from both sides of the Nile River. The brush is also made from the soft stems of papyrus. The pigments used are all natural pigments. Green comes from turquoise, blue from malachite, yellow from gamboge, red from hematite, black from jet, and so on..."
She spoke methodically until this point, then paused. As the gallery director and Ji Minghuan stared in shock, she continued, "The papermaking process isn't complicated, but it still takes half a month. Painting usually takes another half a month! Do you need me to explain in detail the process and tools used to make this papyrus?"
"No need, you've already said it very well!" The gallery manager smiled and shook his head, while giving Nie Yao a thumbs-up and praising her with some admiration, "I didn't expect you to know so much about this painting. It seems you're an insider!"
