BAD ENDING

BAD ENDING

"Yu Zou, please answer again, why did you go to that church?"

"Tag the link".

He clicked his tongue and straightened up from the wall. He Honghan quickly turned off the microphone and grabbed him as he passed by: "The drug's effects are waning; he's not fit for trial."

"Life waits for no one."

"He's a human being too, are you trying to drive him crazy?"

"I have no extra kindness for murderers."

He Can slowly rotated his arm, without much force, and He Honghan had already let go, but still looked directly at He Can: "The nonsense you've heard will only harm more people."

"You!" He Can grabbed He Honghan by the collar. "There's no time! Do you think only doctors can save lives?"

Do you think only physical illnesses are illnesses?

"Hey, let go! You're ashamed!"

Sang Pingqiu stood between the two, gripped He Can's arm tightly, and slowly pulled it down. Then he said to He Honghan, "The interrogation must begin, but we will respect your opinion. Once you issue a warning, we will stop immediately."

"Can."

"Would you like to see the list of questions?"

"No need. Stimuli, regardless of their magnitude, will only accumulate. Prediction is useless for acute stress."

Behind the one-way glass, Yu Zou did not react to the arrival of the two.

He Can untied the white thread on the file folder, pulled out a few photos, placed them on the table, and pushed them in front of him, saying, "Look carefully, who is this?"

Yu Zou's pupils dilated slightly, like an open net trying to capture the incomprehensible words in the void. He picked up the photograph; the corpse in the wooden ruins was wearing a white nightgown, its broken neck causing its head to tilt unnaturally to one side. He tried to focus his gaze on the photograph, but the figure seemed to spin even more.

His slender fingers quickly wiped the photo a few times, and the small mole on Du Pianjian's lips, which best represented her, was no longer there. Yu Zou blinked rapidly, each blink like a heavy blow, smashing out an almost insane brilliance. He suddenly stood up but was chained back to his chair, staring at the two people opposite him, hoping that they could verify his thoughts.

He Chan pointed to the photo on the table and repeated, "Who is this?"

He is an Omega at the school hospital, and an Omega under the windowsill.

But Yu Zou didn't know her name, nor how to describe her.

Moreover, he was more concerned with another issue:

"Is Du Pianjian still alive?"

“I regret to inform you that Du Pianjian has been returning to Fox Corridor Prison the entire time. Your so-called marker link is completely invalid. Moreover, the victim did not have glands at all. How do you explain your claim of ‘seeing’ and ‘perceiving’ him in the church?” He asked.

Yu Zou leaned back in his chair, a red thread emerging from his neck ring, which then stretched out a long tail that wrapped around his entire neck.

The announcement to stop the game came over the loudspeaker. He Can lost his temper and slammed his fist on the table. He couldn't even get a single question out!

Just when the two thought they were going to return empty-handed again, Yu Zou suddenly opened his mouth with difficulty: "I really went by feeling. She is not Du Pianjian, but what I saw at the time was indeed Du Pianjian."

"Was she still alive when you saw her?" He Can was startled; Yu Zou had actually confessed on his own initiative.

“He was alive; I saw him move.”

"So you want to kill Luo Zangrui to ensure her safety?"

"I don't remember."

"What does 'can't remember' mean?"

Yu Zou's neck ring had turned completely red, his glands were congested with blood, and pheromones mixed with blood were flowing out. Soon even the neck ring could not suppress it. Even if He Can wanted to continue asking questions, he had to back out for his own safety.

"I only have memories up to when I drove my car into the church."

Sang Pingqiu gestured for him to stop, and He Can also reached out to stop him, speaking faster and faster: "Then you can't explain that the murder weapon you were holding was the same weapon used to assassinate Chi Hengxun?"

Yu Zou nodded, neither surprised nor curious.

A pricking pain began to fill the air; the oxygen seemed to vanish at breakneck speed, and the space was no longer suitable for anyone else. Wen Ke, however, pushed open the door at the opportune moment, and within a minute, a liquid mixed with Du Pianjian's pheromones had been injected into Yu Zou's neck.

The color of the neck ring faded visibly. He continued to press, "Explain why the weapon you used to kill Luo Zangrui was the same weapon you used to kill Chi Hengxun."

Because he's too annoying.

A voice inside him said this, and Yu Zou also became irritated, blurting out involuntarily, "Because he's too annoying."

She kept bothering me.

“I can’t stand that Du Pianjian keeps pestering me.”

So I stabbed him a few times.

So I stabbed him a few times.

He frowned; he recognized this confession: "Who?"

"Chi Hengxun."

"You've kept the knife that killed Chi Hengxun all this time?"

"He probably just threw it in the car. When he saw Luo Zangrui, he probably just picked it up without paying attention to whether it was the one that killed Chi Hengxun."

"Aren't you sure?"

"In that situation, it would be impossible for any Alpha to remain rational."

It seems reasonable, but it brings us back to the original question. The Omega in the church is not Du Pianjian, nor does she have glands, so why would Yu Zou think she is Du Pianjian and lose control because of it?

To attribute this to a hallucination would be far too absurd.

As soon as He Can came out, Sang Pingqiu immediately handed him the inhibitor from his pocket. Then, looking at the microphone, He Honghan was no longer there. He sighed, "You shouldn't have asked any further questions."

"If you care about him, you'll never get the answer even if you ask him."

"Based on several clinical interviews and cross-verification with police evidence, the subject was diagnosed with 'acute stress disorder with psychotic symptoms.' The subject's statements formed a closed loop within their own experience, using 'linked sensations' to replace actual auditory and visual evidence, which is a typical characteristic of delusional beliefs rather than conscious lies."

It can be largely confirmed that he was in an acute psychotic state triggered by trauma at the time. His behavior stemmed from severe hallucinations and delusions, not from an illegal intent committed with full conscious awareness. However, based on previous evidence presented by the police, drug-induced psychological damage cannot be ruled out.

The doctor, nearing fifty, held a piece of paper and read it aloud word by word as he stood next to the screen, giving a report to the special task force. The screen showed a photo of a medical record that indicated Yu Zou had been treated at the Third Hospital of Shoushu City, and that excessive amounts of sleeping pills and inhaled anesthetics were found in his blood.

"Therefore, based on the diagnoses of myself and several colleagues, Yu Zou does indeed have a mental illness and should be sent to a special prison."

The verdict caused an uproar.

The day Du Pianjian was acquitted was the same day Yu Zou's trial concluded.

The usually deserted entrance to Huihulang Prison was crowded with people and cameras. The heavy prison gates opened in the morning mist, and Du Pianjian stepped out. The faint morning light gilded him, like a fine jade artifact emerging from the dust of time, allowing modern people to experience the splendor of history.

In an instant, a barrage of flashes erupted, and microphones rained down like pine needles.

"Mr. Du! What are your thoughts on the acquittal?"

"With Yulong's stock price continuing to plummet, how will you recover it?"

"The murderer is your ex-husband. Did you know this? Why did you take the blame for him?"

The iron wall formed by bodyguards and prison guards kept everyone firmly outside Du Pianjian's reach. Before getting into the car, Du Pianjian paused, turned around and said to everyone, "First, I want to offer my deepest apologies to everyone who has been hurt by this incident. Second, he did it all to protect me; the marking made him helpless. No matter the verdict or how he treated me, he is the person I deeply love, and I will not leave him. Finally, Yu Long has always been meticulous and will not waver because of anyone, not even Yu Zou, not even me."

All the light and gazes were drawn to him, to the point that all other senses were shut down, and a collective daze spread silently through the crowd, drowning in his vulnerability and loyalty.

The camera lens was out of focus, and the viewfinder only showed his still alluring lips, now devoid of color, with the small mole beneath them appearing and disappearing until it vanished completely, leaving only the endless pine forest.

"Du Pianjian was in the Fox Corridor Prison from beginning to end."

This sentence kept echoing in his mind.

Yu Zou stared up at the ceiling, his eyes still dull and lifeless. Fate had ultimately led him to prison, and yet he had willingly chosen to swallow his pride and endure the pain.

Everything was as absurd as a game; he was stuck at a bad ending that he couldn't complete.

Because there's no storage, I just can't figure it out.

All the evidence points to him committing murder, yet he has no memory of his actions. He even lacks any basis for judging his own guilt.

Hallucinations, auditory hallucinations, visual hallucinations. Where to begin?

“A3680”

"Here," Yu Zou answered reflexively, his chaotic thoughts immediately interrupted. It was hard to believe he had only been here a week and had already completely adapted. The first-instance verdict was fifteen years imprisonment. For Chi Hengxun, due to physiological rage, it was manslaughter; for Luo Zangrui, due to his criminal status, he was exempt from criminal responsibility.

Yu Zou was taken to the visiting area by the prison guards. On the way, he guessed it might be He Honghan, since he now needed to receive regular psychological treatment. The last time He Honghan commented on the "prison doctor" here, he said: "As long as the emperor doesn't die, it's fine."

The application process for the meeting was complicated, and He Honghan even said he wanted to apply for a transfer here. Yu Zou was unwilling to let him do that. He Honghan also said that he had fallen out with his former colleagues and didn't want to stay there for a long time.

Behind the glass, Du Pianjian sat upright, her lowered eyes slowly rising as she watched Yu Zou sit down opposite her.

Yu Zou remained calm, but his heart pounded like a drum. He leaned back in his chair and looked at Du Pianjian. He looked alright; his neck ring was intact and there were no external injuries. He was even a little fatter than when he saw Du Pianjian in Lingwan.

The prison has a regular schedule and decent food, so given Du Pianjian's personality, he shouldn't suffer any losses here.

How could he not have imagined that all of this was Du Pianjian's doing? He had long been chosen as the scapegoat, and his emotions were the grass that was leading him step by step into the trap.

Wrong time, wrong place, leading to wrong result.

This made him recall the scene of his first meeting with Du Pianjian.

Through the glass window, Du Pianjian watched as Yu Zou began to daydream from the moment he sat down, and even looked at her with a dazed expression.

"Has anyone else come to see you?" Du Pianjian asked.

Yu Zou felt a sharp pain in the back of his neck, and his consciousness returned to its original state. He only heard the last few words and roughly guessed their meaning: "No."

"lie."

Who do you want to ask?

“Mu Hanjiao. Knowing you were in prison, he left without looking back.” Du Pianjian didn’t wait for Yu Zou’s reaction, and continued, “But I will always wait for you.”

Yu Zou's eyebrows arched upwards in confusion, his eyes filled with "why?" making his face look aggrieved and pitiful, and even his voice was hoarse: "Isn't this the end?"

"Finish?"

Isn't this enough? Yu Zou's heart ached with every beat, but he couldn't utter a word. Surveillance cameras were everywhere, and his accusations would become evidence against Du Pianjian.

He really wanted to ask: Was the reason they tied him up from Lingwan and brought him back to Shoushu, marking him permanently through near self-harm, just to control him to kill Luo Zangrui? Was it just to get rid of the crime of killing Chi Hengxun?

But he couldn't say a word.

This is the price he paid for choosing to trust Du Pianjian again; who can he blame?

Yu Zou picked up the pen on the table, assumed a signing posture, and said, "I agree."

Du Pianjian slightly tightened his arms, and his tightly pursed lips made his face even sharper, as if he wanted to cut a gash in the person opposite him.

Not hearing a reply, Yu Zou repeated, "I agree."

What do you agree to?

"Wash the mark," Yu Zou said numbly. The only two reasons he could think of for Du Pianjian to come here were to kick someone when they're down or to cut off contact. "Anytime is fine."

"Can't you feel it?" Du Pianjian interrupted him forcefully, her previously rosy face instantly turning icy.

"What?"

"I am pregnant."
